Geddys is definitely a tourist place to have a meal. The ambiance and decor remind me of a TGI Fridays, but Maine style. We popped in and were quickest seated and served. We had been on our Maine trip for almost a week and had been waiting for a while lobster. We both ordered the 1.5-2 lb lobsters. You can pick the out of the tank if you would like. We didn't have the heart to pick out dinner and look it in the eyes. I'm husband just chose the lobster plate which comes with a 1.5-2 lbs lobster and corn on the cob. I opted for the meal. Lobster 1.5lb lobster, cup clam chowder, corn on the cob and "famous" Maine Blueberry pie. Lobsters were good. Definitely couldn't had more than one. As always not enough meat if you're only eating lobster. Corn was tasty. I have mine to my husband, he was still hungry. The clam chowder was ok. I feel like it had been sitting in the pot for a day or so. Really thick and kind of concealed. Not the rich-creamy flavor I was hoping for. Kind of bland. Needed to add hot sauce. I tried a couple bites of the Blueberry pie. Very thick pie filling. Sweet and tasty. Felt like the crust was store bought. Not really flaky or buttery. Overall, good lobster. Touristy. Geddy's is to Bar Harbor as Union Oyster House or Cheers is to Boston. It's an institution. The swag abounds, the tourists cluster, and the restaurant is a well oiled machine getting you in and out in about an hour before you realize it's the shortest dinner you've ever had out. The food is decent. They put plastic little mermaids or animals in your drink, including adult cocktails. The kid's Shirley Temples were the size of fishbowl. We ordered steamers, fresh of course, so so tender. Kids got fish and chips and chicken tenders. The fry on the fish was crunchy, not greasy, and delicious. Adults got lobster Cobb salad and seafood pie. The seafood pie was outstanding. The lobster Cobb made me miss the lettuce. It was a small side salad size. It was not worth the $42 entree price for it. Overall it's worth trying but don't expect spectacular, and plan to walk out with a tshirt. read more

Tidbit! The Anchorage Motel manager warned us with a whisper: "It's where all the tourists go. But it's good. It's really good." She wasn't lying. It was worth the 45-minute wait. Spend that time wandering Main Street's shops, because the wait was worth the bite. The shrimp and scallop scampi arrived swimming in garlic, butter, and pasta (perfect fuel before a half marathon). My uncle's fish and chips delivered an actual deep-fried slab of fish, somehow golden and perfectly cooked. And then the seafood pie: crispy, flaky, golden on top in a way that looks borderline burnt but is actually just butter and scallops doing what butter and scallops do. This dish was basically chowder, piled high with fish... And some more fish, with a dash of chowder. Even the blueberry beer came through; we got Orono's Wicked Maine Blueberry Ale, packed with actual blueberries floating up and down. Despite the huge tourist population in the summer, there was not wait for Geddy's, it was crowded but the waitstaff was very efficient and attentive. I had a really nice salad and New England Clam Chowder, my friends had pizza which they liked. I like a place with a lot of menu options and this fit the bill. Did they seat us immediately, have a wide variety of options for everyone, and have great service? Also yes! The kids meals come on frisbees, which they can use at the park across the street. The first time I had the ahi tuna tacos which were light and fresh. The second time I got the poke bowl, which was so good! Fresh, light, and veggie filled. I actually loved Geddy's. I know it's a tourist establishment, but, we are tourists and they had a wonderful menu and ambiance. We requested to sit by the window to have my birthday lunch and loved watching the sun set over the water. This is in a prime spot right by the wharf and has a gorgeous view of the water by the windows, but has a great bar and more seating in the back. Menu is huge with sandwiches, fish, pizzas, salads, etc. We went with the warmed brown butter lobster roll and a margarita pizza add sausage. My husband is a pizza guy - has it like 5x a week - so he's picky. He loved this pizza and said it was really top tier. I also thought it was very good - crust and toppings all great and cooked well. Sometimes margarita pizzas are runny due to less cheese/sauce ratio but this one was good and crust was yummy. The lobster roll was a different way to have it - I usually have it in the mayonnaise sauce chilled, this one was warmed up with brown butter on a delicious bun. Very good. They have 3 different lobster rolls on the menu to satisfy whatever the craving/need. For desset - we chose the chocolate death parfait. It was SO good. Not something I would usually get bc it was so heavy - but we were in town for my birthday so, treat yo self! Layers of chocolate cake, dense white marscapone cream and chocolate mousse with caramel and toffee chunks. Yeah, sign me up for that. Don't forget to visit their gift shop directly underneath and off to the side - it's huge! It actually has far more than the standard cup and t-shirt or hat. Expect loads of gifts and souvenirs and some awesome t-shirts. We got more than a few things in this surprise shop. 100% recommend this place. read more

After a day in Acadia National Park we stopped in Bar Harbor for the night and I couldn't have been happier. We ate like kings and queens. When we showed up it was an hour wait, we ended up grabbing a seat at the bar.
