No nonsense no frills place that you'd drive by if you didn't know better. Right on the side of the road with a great location, Eagle's Nest has a small number of tables but moves people through pretty quickly. The order window is convenient but the big story here is the food. Easily the best lobster roll we had in Maine (and we went to a great number of places for lobster), but the scallops were huge and so tasty, the portions were great. The Eagle's Nest lobster roll was so good that we stopped by and got one to go before heading to the airport to fly home. When we are back in Bangor we will be stopped here no questions read more

This is a tiny hole in the wall restaurant sitting above the river we popped in on our road trip. The lobster roll was ridiculously big, the bread had no hope it was being crushed by the delicious lobster. Hubs had the unlimited fish and chips. His fish pieces was so big he really enjoyed it. The fries and coleslaw weee really great as well. We tried the Grape Nuts pudding- I personally thought it was foul but the hubs loved it- the texture and how the pudding was broken and weeping was a turn off for me, hubs ate the whole thing. 10/8/25 My husband and I stopped at Eagles Nest Restaurant after hearing it was a local favorite and it did not disappoint. I ordered the lobster roll and lobster stew and both were unbelievably fresh and full of flavor. Every bite was packed with tender lobster and it truly felt like a taste of the coast. Which is what I wanted to experience when I'm on this side of the country. The quality and portion were amazing for the value and I honestly wish every restaurant served lobster like this. The service was friendly and quick and the whole place had that cozy local vibe that makes you want to stay awhile. If we lived nearby I would absolutely come here every day. Wow. Wasn't expecting this place to give out so much lobster! This was nearly twice as much lobster on our lobster roll than the other places we have been this trip and it was very close in price. Additionally, the quality of lobster was fresher and softer here too! If you need your lobster fix, you have to check them out! They also have an all you can eat fish fry every day of the week and the portions on that are equally impressive. It is a small place on the inside and I think a lot of people do the takeout option. If you're flying into Bangor on your way to Bar Harbor-start your trip off right by stopping here. The lobster was so amazing here that we decided not to have any more for fear of being disappointed. This is a local small-town vibe diner with spectacular views of the water. It's tiny, but the service is fast and friendly, so if you happen to get there when it's full, I suggest waiting. What we got: the Lobster Salad. We were given dressing with our salad, but it was so flavorful that we didn't even need to put it on. We also got a cup of lobster stew. They give you so much lobster here, and it is, by far, the best I've ever had! We added a BLT to our soup and talked about stopping in on our way back home as we were leaving. Exactly why we drove from NC to Maine. We got there about 30 min before closing so we were worried it may be rushed or not as good...there was no need to worry. The waitress was so friendly, efficient, and helpful. A real pleasure. I was looking for an authentic lobster roll and I got that. Full of juicy meat and the roll was buttery and melted in your mouth. They offer it hot with butter (just like I like it) or cold with mayo. The clam strips were terrific too and everything was made to order, hot and fresh. Grilled cheese will never be the same without lobster! We ended with, hands down, the best lemon meringue pie. This is a must visit spot in Bangor. Tiny place off the side of the highway. Small kitchen. HUGE flavor. Of course most people enter the door with a hankering for a delicious lobster roll, however they have lobster salad, all you can eat fish, and amazing pies. You will not be disappointed. We read the reviews and decided to drive down from Brownville to try the haddock. It was amazingly good! We like ours cooked a little more than average and they honored that request to perfection. The fish was tender and delicious. This place really is small with about 8 tables. We arrived a few minutes before noon and we were seated right away at the window with a spectacular view of the river. The service was excellent. Some folks have commented that it is "pricey". I'm not sure how they arrived at that conclusion. My husband and I each had three large pieces of haddock on our plates. I think it was $18.99 each plate. If we had wanted to do the all you can eat fish fry it would have been $19.99. I don't consider that pricey. I did see the seafood platter and it was enormous! It could feed 3 average people easily. Service is the main thing. So here's the deal. My liver is really damaged from drinking contaminated water when I was in the Marines back in the day. I'm really careful with what I drink. The young lady asked what we would like to drink. I told her what my granddaughter wanted, I said I had my water, my husband said he wanted a tea. My husband then said we weren't ready to order. Server stayed and stared down at me. So I said we weren't ready yet. She stood there and just stared. I smiled. Didn't know why she was still standing and staring. I said "um, that's it for now." She asked what's I would like to drink" I smiled and replied that I was good. She replied that I couldn't drink my water. I didn't see any signs saying this. This is why I thought it was cool. Well there's this place that literally hangs over the rivers edge. The seafood is better than I dare say any place Downeast. The girls were quick and attentive. The atmosphere killed it. The location on the river sure had promise... A small cute little diner, sounded great. Called to see if they were open and if they took reservations. Was told no reservations needed and that they stopped setting 1/2 hour prior to close. We arrived and put our names in and waited outside. The greater / server stepped outside several times to say that they were out of some items. The crows thinned. We were called to get inside, out of order and another party was told they were next after us. We exchanged pleasantries and we said they should go first. The greater said no and the other party told us to go in. She was very rude to everyone and "salty"... The ice tea was great! Ordered dinner and was told they were out of some other items that we had ordered. Made second try and was told out of that too. Made third try and was told ok. Meal arrived and it was cold and the salmon was terrible (cold overdone and bland). My bride had the haddock and it was great (we shared it) and left the salmon to age gracefully on the plate along with cold corn, mashed potatoes and gravy). The server had left to make a call (the staff in the kitchen laughed and told them her to say hello to her cigarette). The chef (maybe owner) seemed like a great guy...he jumped in and started getting food to all the tables. We finished our meal and left to try to enjoy the rest of our evening. Found the Eagles Nest through Yelp! The lobster roll was the best we had in Maine. Hack: if you plan on sharing, order it as-is. When you ask for two buns, the portion size of lobster appeared much smaller and was served in a small bowl. It was still generous, but definitely more lobster comes in the single bun to make it look full (did not take a picture of the portion size on the two bun lobster roll me, but trust me on it). The one downfall is some sides like the green beans and the mashed potatoes come out of a can. I'd suggest sticking with the fries and slaw. Tartar sauce was nothing special but not offensive (it was fine to average). Service was good! We came back a second time and we were remembered, which is a nice touch. I can't say enough GOOD things about this place. They may be known for their lobster rolls, but I go there for the Fish Fry !! The fried haddock is cooked to perfection, as are the fries. You can taste that the oil is not old (which is an issue for some places). The folks there are always friendly. Don't leave without getting dessert to go (since I'm assuming you'll be too full to eat it there). They have many options, my personal favorite is the chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting!! They are consistently good, which is an issue for many places where you'll have a good meal, and maybe not another time. We've had so many good meals during our week long trip to Maine that it's hard to pick a favorite, but this one is it! Eagles Nest in Brewer, ME just outside of Bangor had the best Lobster Roll we've ever had. The portions were ridiculously large and in fact one lobster roll is really enough for two people, they will even let you order an extra roll so you can split it. We didn't realize that until after we ordered, but for $33.99 for a lobster roll with gigantic pieces of lobster it was well worth every penny. I swear each roll had a full lobster on it and had just a light coating of mayonnaise. They make them to order so you can ask for it however you'd like. Everything that we saw come out of the kitchen, including the desserts looked delicious. It's a small little restaurant that overlooks the Penobscot river and the staff here is extremely friendly and wants you to have a great experience.
