Bottom line: no major complaints. Delicious food and attentive service. Dined with friends--who can be annoying diners--for dinner. The waiter handled them well, although they irked me. Had the trout special, which was a filet on sweet potato mash. I would have liked more heat in the blackening spices, but most of their customers probably prefer it the way it was served. A shrimp-potato soup provided the heat; we all agreed it was the star of the night. Bread pudding a la mode was a winner. Interior ain't fancy; it's basic, but clean. Dining room has low tables upfront and high tables along back wall. They do have bar service (and a happy hour that ended at 6pm). Plenty of parking in the shopping center lot. Acadian Grille has a great atmosphere in the restaurant. The vibe is great and I think it'd be great for groups. The inside is nicely decorated and the service is great! But the food was just okay. I had the Crawfish Étouffée and it looked tasty. The food was only slightly warm, more watery than I'm used to, and didn't have much flavor. The bread that it came with was great. The amount of crawfish was substantial. I think I would come back to try a different dish, but I wouldn't get the Crawfish Étouffée again. read more

We visited the Acadian Grille tonight for our daughter's birthday. Doesn't look like much when you walk in but the food was outstanding! Says it's a Cajun restaurant. When I think of Cajun, I think of spicy. It was not. I had the shrimp and grits. It was to die for!!! The bread they serve is incredible! The owner visited our table several times and was very attentive. Our waiter was excellent. Our drinks were refilled without asking. The place was clean. Not much decor but who cares! Wonderful food! Great choice for Cajun in Omaha. Ordered Chicken thighs for an appetizer; they were subtly seasoned and tasted great. For the main course I ordered jambalaya with a side of collard greens. The jambalaya was a huge portion and I ended up taking home enough for lunch the next day. Personally I might have added more okra but the flavor was awesome and exactly what I was looking for. I will be returning to try other menu items. Definitely a restaurant worth visiting. read more

Go try this place!! So nice to have a cajun/creole place in Omaha, there aren't many! This is a brand new restaurant, family owned. Everyone was very friendly and attentive. I had the crab cakes and gouda mac and enjoyed both. Its been a long time since I ate until I was stuffed full and this place did it. I wish I had a bigger stomach so I could have eaten more. So I've hit this place up for lunch twice in the last week. The first time it was a to go order- one of their roast beef po' boys- extremely tasty if not a bit messy to eat (the messier the po' boy, the tastier in my opinion). A weird thing, though- the tomatoes on it were actually very good. They actually tasted like real tomatoes and not crappy supermarket ones like you get at most places. You get a side choice as well and I went with the red beans and rice. They were delicious but some of the rice a bit undercooked- definitely very tasty, though. The second stop was with a colleague for lunch today. I had to try the shrimp and grits. It was awesome! The grits were cheesy delicious and the shrimp and accompanying sauce/veggies were perfectly done. I really don't remember the last time I've had shrimp in Omaha that weren't overcooked into a rubber band consistency. My colleague had the shrimp po' boy which he said was excellent. For a side, he got the red beans and rice and made several comments on how good they were. Service-wise, it's more of a casual environment. If you're eating in, just grab a table. Everyone I've interacted with has been great- you can tell they want this place to succeed. I hope it does- this is a great addition to the area and will definitely be hitting them up whenever I'm working in the area. read more

My boyfriend and I ordered Acadian Grille for dinner the other night after seeing people rave about it on the Omaha Food Lovers page. It. Was. Amazing! We ordered the crab cakes, boudin balls, catfish po'boy and catfish platter. We had never had boudin balls before and they were soooo tasty! The crunchy outside and moist inside were a perfect combo, and the flavor was bursting! The crab cakes were so fresh and moist. We loved the catfish as well - it was nice and crisp with great spices. 10/10 recommend. This place will definitely be in our normal rotation! read more

After seeing all the race reviews I decided to stop down at Acadian Grille to see what all the fuss was about. Now I know. The restaurant is located in a strip mall off of 114th and Dodge. Decor is minimally Cajun and the seating is incredibly sparse given the lunchtime popularity of this place. When we walked in we had to sit next to the door when 35 degree wind would whip over you everytime someone walked in or out. Not cool, man. We eventually switched seats when the place started clearing out. The service was prompt and they had good suggestions and descriptions of the food. I ordered the Catfish Poboy which was down home deliciousness! The sauce they drizzled on top was intoxicating. The side of Gouda man and cheese was a good move that I think everyone needs to jump on. My wife had a spicy pasta dish (I can't remember the name) which she loved. Overall I'll be coming back here again although I might rethink my choice of showing up at noon due to the cramped seating. read more

Give the catfish poboy a try -- it's delicious! The fish was perfectly cooked and tasty, the remoulade sauce was spot on, and the bread was as French as it gets. The gator bites appetizer was tasty, especially with the fig jam dipping sauce. The hurricane (beverage) tasted like the French Quarter. Our only miss was the beignets, which the chef admitted were made with an extra egg as an experiment. There's quite a bit more on the menu that I want to try, so I will make it a point to return soon. read more

Great Cajun place. It is uber busy. We waited 30 for a table. The service was good at least. They had good, real tea. It's a good start. We had crab cakes as starters. They are very good. The sauce was great and so was the coleslaw. The crab cakes were slightly spicy. Our group got red beans and rice with andouille, jambalaya, and gumbo. All were better than expected. The portions were good sized, spicy, and the included bread was good. My friend and I ate all of our portions. My wife finished about half of her red beans and rice before throwing in the towel. She said The sausage was super. I had the gumbo with sausage and chicken. The chicken was great. Some of the better gumbo I've had. All in all, I thought this place was solid. A great Cajun place that lived up to the hype. Even though they were slammed, they got our order right. The food was hot and the person was attentive. They do have outside seating and alcohol. Bonus. The prices were mid level but worth the price. The only downside I could find was the cornbread. It was fairly generic. I'm going back to have the desert. It looked amazing. read more

Tonight I had a take-out order of gumbo. I sat and had a cocktail while I watched the Cook staff banter until they elected to put my meal in a Styrofoam container. I brought it home and it was so incredibly salty it was in edible. I have had many incredible meals at this restaurant but that was a few years ago. I am thankful I did not bring my friend who I suggested coming with me. Sadly, my guess is this restaurant will be closed soon. Our first time here and we met some friends, who are Baton Rouge natives. Arrived at 5:15 pm Saturday, apparently right before the rush. Customers were still waiting to be seated as we left. Had a great experience! I had the crawfish etouffee and my wife had the Jambalaya with sausage and chicken, cornbread and crab cakes appetizer. No complaints at all. Great service. Get there early because the secret is out on this place already and they are a small outfit. Started with Boudin Balls and Gator Bites. The balls came with a remoulade sauce which paired nicely. More pork than rice and fell apart nicely when you cut into them and you need to as they are good sized. I really enjoyed them. I can't speak for the gator bites but there weren't any left after the boys got through with them (Not Husband and Not Father in Law). I had the crawfish etouffee and I would eat this again. I would eat this until you had to roll me out of there in a wheelbarrow. Sweet on the front with a slow building heat on the back end. I can't speak highly enough of this dish. NH had the crawfish jambalaya, it was so good we ended up swapping plates in the middle because I wanted more than just the taste he gave me. NFiL had the shrimp po'boy with the house made fries. I can't speak to that either because every time I asked for a bite, he said no. I think he liked it. Dessert was the house made pecan sandies and the blood orange creme brulee. The cookies were light and airy; not nearly as sweet at the store made. The creme brulee... the creme brulee.. mother of the wheezing fruitstick.... they got this right. There was the most wonderful crackle through the sugar to the beautiful soft custardy innards. Yes, please! There were a few small stumbles with the service but I expect that to work itself out as time goes on. The owner (Dan? Steve?) was attentive and hustling right along his staff. THE RESTAURANT GODS HAVE ANSWERED MY PLEA!!! I have been begging for more locally owned restaurants to show up in this part of town and, lo and behold, ACADIAN GRILLE IS HERE! And it is a (delicious) Cajun place to boot! We stopped in to eat on a Tuesday night and the restaurant was quick, clean, the portion size and prices were fair, and our server Shannon was lovely. There was not a single thing on their menu that I didn't want to try, it all looked AMAZING. We started off with the Alligator Bite app, which were juicy and well breaded. It had a little bit of spice to it, the breading didn't crumble/fall off (yay!), and the poblano fig jam it was served with was the perfect compliment. If you're a spicy person, they provide hot sauce on the table for you (I put some Tobasco on the alligator, then dipped it in the jam and it was so good I made my husband try it). For my main dish, I ordered Shrimp & Grtis w/ Crispy Tasso (smoked bacon-like ham bits), and it was easily the best shrimp and grits I have had in quite a while. The grits were creamy and cheesy, the shrimp were tender and perfectly cooked (I like that they took the tails off before hand), and the veggies in the sauce tasted super fresh and crisp. I am going to have a hard time trying anything else here because I loved this dish so much and wanted to order another plate as soon as I finished my first. My husband ordered the Five-Pepper Cream w/ Blackened Chicken & Pappardelle and the bite I stole of it was yummy as well. Our server said this was a very spicy dish, but my husband and I didn't think it was too hot at all (we are both spicy food lovers though, so we may be bias). The chicken was well seasoned and the sauce was unique (kind of like a beer-cheese w/ a twist). He said he would order it again. Finally, we ended the meal with a Blood Orange Creme Brulee (at Shannon's suggestion), and the creamy custard and tart orange were delicious! It was very rich, so it was perfect for us to share after devouring our app and main course. We didn't order drinks, but it looked like they had a really nice beer and wine selection (not pages and pages of options, but they had some unique, lesser known brands along with the typical domestics). We will definitely be back (is two days in a row too much? I don't think so.). It is a low-key, mellow atmosphere with friendly staff and great food. We were staying at the Wyndham and looking for something nearby. The Acadian Grille is located is a strip mall which looked to be full of interesting restaurant choices. The menu was varied and the prices were decent. We tried two items and shared. The poutine was fantastic - crispy fries topped with delicious cheese sauce, meat and just enough spice The five pepper cream with blackened chicken on pappardelle pasta was delicious. We went from one to the other and back again, alternating the delicious flavors. There were many other options on the menu and if we lived anywhere near the place, it would be a likely choice for recurring visits. Highly recommended. read more
