As soon as you walk in, you are greeted promptly and handed menus. Once you're ready to order, you go back up to the counter. I ordered the turkey leg dinner, which comes with two sides. I got the mac and cheese and baked beans. The turkey is smothered with BBQ sauce, or you can opt to have the sauce on the side. The turkey leg was juicy and tasty. The service itself was on the slower side, but we didn't mind since we were catching up with family. The staff was very attentive; as soon as they saw we had a toddler, they brought out some mac and cheese, which was really thoughtful. They also bring out a sampler plate with different menu items. They were out of a few things, but we didn't mind and had great substitutions. Overall, this is a nice spot to get some tasty food. The place itself is small, so it can get pretty cramped. Ribs I'll give a 4/10; they were missing seasoning and Smokey taste. Yes they were tender but the flavor was nonexistent. It's was drenched in sauce and still wasn't flavorful. If I was the chef I would add some brown sugar to my seasoning base to create some type of flavor profile. As for the brisket I give a 4/10; there was no seasoning on it at all just straight sauce and no flavor. Overall they have a decently good catfish but it's easy to make catfish. But the BBQ needs some help, the seasoning is nonexistent and the BBQ has no flavor profile. It's just grilled and served. read more

Our 9 year old was in a mood and causing all kinds of issues and the owner just said hey I make good Mac and cheese you should try this. And the little one loved it and almost finished it all there! We showed up on a Sunday around 5ish and were the only ones. The owners husband was there and he was kind and talked with us while we were waiting. Now, the food. Smoky, tender, delicious. We got the 3 meat combo and had nothing bad to say about any of it. I also particularly loved that in the shop they had all kinds of pictures with celebs, notes from the community about how much they support, and a drive for hand warmers. The meat is good, the sides are not so good here. The half slab of ribs were great and tender, fried catfish filets were great. Potato salad? Taste like cold mashed potatoes, I think they need to fix the texture of it and then flavoring. Spaghetti? No flavor. Macaroni? TOO cheesy, not enough noodles and no flavor on top of it. Fries? We're checking out new joints in Omaha since we've moved here. Tonight we craved bbq and we parked at Rib Shack Smoke House. We will return! This is a family joint and it feels like it the second you walk in. You're welcomed in and attacked by those sweet vinegary smokey smells and you're suddenly starving! Bill had the St. Louis Rib dinner. 6 fall-off-the-bones ribs, slathered in a homemade sauce (all those smells from before). The smoke bark and flavor reminded one of why bbq is for fingers. We went through at least 4 paper towel 1/2s. The slaw was a sweet tangy coolness and the collards were an earthy flavor contrast. I like mine a little more vinegary and smokey, but they weren't disappointing. I had the two meat combo with 1/2lb of rib tips, 3 fried jumbo shrimp. Loved the shrimp (didn't need a sauce, really). The rib tips were dripping in sauce that I actually, for the first time in my bbq eating life, sopped up with the bread slices at the bottom of the rib pile. The rib tips were more meat than fat and I loved that! Chewy but not tough. My two sides were the baked beans and fried okra. Neither survived. The beans were smokey and sweet with bits of meat and green peppers in them. Ate 'em all. The okra was perfection. Cornmeal crunch with soft yummy okra. Piping hot. The tartar sauce with shrimp was yummy, but the funky vinegar tangy sauce was even better. We each had a small scoop of potato salad added and it would stand on its own as a full side. So many more things to try! Unfortunately, we didn't have any leftovers. While we ate, a man down on his luck came in, was treated with dignity, given his drink of choice and a free sandwich. Ate at the Rib shack for the first time today. Had take out once from them. First off they are very friendly. And like many have mentioned the free rib tip sample when you eat there for the first time. Now I must first and foremost get to the star of the show for us. The Catfish is extremely delicious! I mean this is some of the best catfish I've ever had at a restaurant. The hotlink beef sausage is also so good. All the sides have been great as well. Love love love the greens, the spaghetti is down right tasty. The slaw is good. I mean you really can't go wrong. Oh wait I enjoyed the brisket as well.
