I very much enjoyed my recent meal here. We were seated next to the very fast paced, open kitchen. These are some hard working people to be sure. The service was quick, efficient and friendly. This place is oddly reminiscent of a food truck, but in all the best ways (tasty food served up quickly). The corn bread was good, but the star of the show was the crawfish etouffee. The seasoning was excellent and the amount of crawfish was generous. It provided some needed heat on a cold Omaha evening. The Hurricane was ok, but I hope they come up with some frozen drinks for the summer. In any case, I won't wait for summer to come back and try more of the menu. read more

Ok, I'm a cajun snob and grew up on most of the cuisine. I expected to be reviewing my meal from the "well, it's Omaha" perspective. Well, my fellow foodies and Southerners, Acadian is LEGIT. Abita beer, shrimp and grits, red beans and rice. The food packed a spicy flavor, but that was from perfect seasoning and not a "dash of Tabasco". From the time we walked in and I heard the subtle blues music, took in the casual ambiance and was greeted was with a warm smile, I felt at home. We've been to Acadian Grill a few times now. Besides the first time a couple years ago we've had the same server. He's fantastic. I wish I could remember his name. Anyway, I'm all for everything soft shell crab. If it's on a menu, it's going in my belly. We almost always start with the Poutine. So good. Topped with gumbo. Yup. You're welcome. The soft shell crabs are always juicy, plump, crisp yet tender. So much flavor!! My wife has tried a few different dishes and has always been happy. We'll be back. Many more times. read more

Very tasty spot! Waitress was very friendly and gave good suggestions about the menu. The owner walked around and helped out. He was very nice and took good care of us. Crab cakes were served with a salad and sweet dressing that which fantastic (so good I ate it fast before I could snap a photo). My wife ordered the Five Pepper Cream Pasta. Good flavor and not too greasy. Delicious. I ordered a Patty O'Brien taco. Very good! (Similar to a Cali Taco for those familiar with Omaha eats). I also ordered the Shrimp and grits which was the best thing we ordered. Cheesy and cooked to perfection. Small cubes of seasoned steak added great flavor to each bite. I'd definitely order this again. So far I'd say this is the best Cajun spot I've had in Omaha. We will definitely be giving them our business moving forward. read more

Haven't been to Omaha in some time and was looking for a quick dinner bite with my coworkers. Trusted yelp on the reviews of a Cajun place in Omaha. It was well worth it! First have to acknowledge the great job that Kimmy did as our server, as she was incredibly gracious with a couple of no - it - all's with Cajun food and history. We really touched all the bases. We ordered Boudin balls, frog legs, and poutine as appetizers. Then we had the Cajun meatloaf, crawfish Etouffee, and jambalaya for the main courses. I had the etouffee and it was beautifully prepared with just the right spice. Shame on me for not taking a picture. What I like the most was the roux around at the bowl with the rice in the middle, covered in grilled crawfish. This allowed me to get just the right amount of roux with my rice and crawfish. It was very balanced and delicious. Everyone clean their plate so there was no room for bread pudding or other desserts. I also have to thank the young lady that checked me out when we were done. She knew to provide an itemized receipt and asked about splitting of the check like a pro. Not her first rodeo with a business dinner and her experience was appreciated. Just a little stuff that makes a difference when you are on the road. Well done! Save me a seat, because I will be eating there every time I come back to Omaha. read more

Great food and atmosphere. We ordered to-go and the food maintained its quality. Ribeye-cooked to perfection with delicious Cajun seasonings. The augratin potatoes on the side were also amazingly delicious and had different flavoring which was nice. The asparagus was cooked to perfection! Portabella mushroom burger- "one of the best burgers I've ever had", my boyfriend. It was huge and delicious. He chose the collard greens that neither of us liked much but we've never had them before so didn't know what to expect. Gator bites- the portion size for $10 was steep however it was the best gator I've ever tasted. Not chewy like most places (even down south places). Gumbo- amazing! Delicious! Our first visit to the Acadian, and we left fat and happy, without it being a major blow to the wallet. The restaurant is super casual, and currently rather small, but plans are in the works to expand. This is not a bar, so don't expect an expansive wine or cocktail selection. The list of beers was better, and even included five or six from Louisiana. We chose to forego, which probably contributed to the lighter tab at the end of the visit. We started with gumbo -- a Louisiana staple. The cup was overloaded with sausage and chicken, and had great flavor, in large part to that sausage. Even with the little mound of rice in the center, it was on the runny side compared to what I've had in the past. It was a step above mild, but not with so much heat that my partner felt he could skip the hot sauce. It was disappointing that there was no shrimp, which seems from my history to have been part of the Southern standard, but we are pretty far from the coast, and there was no reference to seafood, so it was only my wishful thinking. The shrimp po' boy was fantastic! Big shrimp, done just right, with a delicious remoulade, fresh lettuce and tomato, and a crusty bread to die for. The chosen side, dirty rice, was a bit of a disappointment. It was flavorful, but watery, which was disconcerting for a rice dish. It looked like itcontained a fair amount of gizzard, but it didnt taste overly so. Instead, it had a strong taste of sage. The crab cake salad included a good-sized cake with good flavor and not too much filler. I'm not a fan of peppers, which I know are necessary to flavorful Cajun fare, but big chunks of yellow pepper in the crab cake were not my favorite. The greens were fresh and varied, and the serving size was generous. I'd go just a smidge more than three stars, looking forward to trying other new and different dishes on our next visit. read more

My husband and I stopped in for lunch on a Thursday afternoon. It was at the end of lunchtime, but the restaurant was still about 50% full. We were greeted by our waitress, who was very friendly throughout our visit. We decided to order the Boudin Balls to start. For our meals, I went with the Shrimp Po Boy with the Gouda Mac and Cheese, and my husband ordered the Five-Pepper Cream with Blackened Chicken and Pappardelle. The appetizer came out within a few minutes and was hot and fresh. The kitchen is right behind the counter and visible from most of the restaurant so you can see your food being made, which is nice. The Boudin Balls were probably my favorite thing I ate here. They were full of tasty pork mixture and crispy on the outside. The remoulade sauce they were served with also had a great flavor. Our meals came out shortly afterward, and were also excellent. I was a little skeptical of what the quality of the food would be like, since this place is buried in a strip mall, and Cajun food can be hard to do well, but Acadian Grille does it well! My po boy was loaded with shrimp, lettuce, tomato, and onion, with more of the delicious remoulade sauce on top. I actually wasn't a huge fan of the mac and cheese when I tried it in the restaurant. I ended up taking it to go and ate it the next night, and it was much better the next night, so I think it may be one of those foods that is better after the flavors have had time to meld. We had to wait a bit for our check, but it was our waitress' first day, so considering that, the service was overall very good. The owner stopped by at the end of our meal to see how our visit was and was also very friendly. This place is a gem and you should definitely try it! read more

Busy place, but turn around time isn't bad when you're waiting for a table. We arrived at 5:50 p.m. & there was only 1 table wait ahead of us, although a line quickly formed behind us. Luckily there's tables just outside the door for patio seating/waiting-at least while the weather is nice enough to sit outside! I know space is limited & it doesn't seem like much has changed since the previous tenants. The kitchen is open style & there's a soda machine in the middle that I asked if it's self serve, but it's not. This is a full service restaurant. Our table was rickety-we should've put a piece of paper under one leg! The chairs are comfortable. I like the interior Gulf of Mexico painted wall that depicts where our menu items are from. Our waiter seemed new, he wasn't sure about Happy Hour pricing or what was available for HH. It would be nice if they had HH menu. We ordered the Hurricane drink that was extremely syrupy-we exchanged it for a beer. I have a butter allergy & he wasn't sure if the fish was cooked with butter or not. I ordered the blackened Catfish Po-boy with sauce on the side. I got the fried catfish drizzled with remoulade and agave nectar sauce on top. I didn't complain. It was a thick piece of catfish that was lightly breaded & tasted delicious! It came with red beans & rice, That's a fantastic flavorful side dish that I'd order every time! We were too full to order dessert, which we seen several plates go past that looked yummy! Bananas Foster will be back for! Plus several other menu items that we'd like to try!! I was excited to try this place at the recommendation of my Dad. We started with the crab cakes appetizer which might have been my favorite part of the meal. It comes with two generous crab cakes on a bed of really bright greens (shaved Brussels sprouts, greens, tasty dressing). I went ahead and ordered the Acadian burger with a side of the Gouda Mac and cheese. Both were tasty but the size of the burger really did me in (not the worst problem to have). Everything was so on-point and we were pleasantly surprised at what came out! The portion sizes are fairly large and everything was very reasonably priced. My po boy was actually fantastic- I had the shrimp prepared fried. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and were tender. The sauce that came with it was flavorful. First time here, walked in very casual atmosphere, simple and clean. I liked the fact that you can see the chefs cooking your meal. Four in our party, Two had the Acadian burger, they gave it a 4 star rating and commented about the peppers and the andouille with sausage add great flavor. They ordered it medium and would order it medium rare next time. One had the catfish poboy and commented about how good the catfish was, moist and good flavor. Enjoyed the sauce and seasoning. She would order again. I had the Red Snapper over sweet potato with a pecan sauce. Over all good, I would give it 3 stars. The fish was a little over cooked, there was little sauce to dip your fish in once you broke it apart as RS is large and dense. Sweet potatoes were good and paired well with the red snapper. The boudin balls were my favorite thing I had here, I could eat a whole plate of them. Super moist, crunchy, and perfectly flavored!! Loved them. We ordered cornbread as an appetizer as well and it was so good, like so good we snarfed it down in 5 minutes. The flavor was great, a little sweet and super moist. We both got the special which was a crawfish boil with potatoes, corn, and sausage. I normally skip the sausage and give it to my bf, but this time around I loved it. A little spicy but not too spicy, very flavorful and cooked well (a little crispy on the outside, PERFECT!!). The crawfish were good, but I think the next time I will order one of their staple menu items. We were so impressed with the cornbread and boudin balls, you can see they put a ton of work into getting fantastic scratch food. Also, the server we had was just the sweetest! She was able to recommend a beer to me (that I loved, the PB&J was great.) and so friendly! We'll be back to try some more menu items! read more

I never write reviews of restaurants. In fact, this may be my very first. But I love this place! I went with my daughter because it was close to her job, she got off at noon on a Saturday. We did some experimenting, ordered a bunch of different things...appetizers mostly so we could get a little of everything. ALL delicious. I am declaring the gumbo, which I added Shrimp to, as my new favorite food in the WORLD. And everything was delicious and I wanted to try more.
