I took my BLS recertification over a week ago (as of today) and have been emailing them these past two days without any response. The number on their website does not work either. Now, Kaiser is going to suspend me until I get a card from them (despite showing them a copy of proof that their instructor had signed). In 2016, I was returning to work after surgery and needed to renew my certifications, but financially I was struggling and couldn't afford the classes at the time. I called Rescue Squad CPR simply to find out how much the courses would cost. Tim Plummer, the owner and instructor, remembered me from a class I had taken with him about a year earlier. When Tim learned about my situation, he did something I have never forgotten: he personally paid for my certification classes so I could get what I needed to return to work. That act of kindness meant so much to me, especially during a difficult time in my life. It wasn't something he had to do, and it showed me the kind of person he is beyond being an excellent instructor. Nearly 10 years later, I still go to Tim at Rescue Squad CPR for all of my ACLS, PALS, and BLS certifications, and I will continue to do so. He is knowledgeable, professional, an excellent instructor, and most importantly, a genuinely wonderful human being. Right off the bat, you can tell he was going to be a cool and laid back teacher. Curtis is a professional and was professional in this course. He made sure that before we moved on, that we were confident in what we just learned. Any questions we had, he took his time on answering it. We never felt rushed. Curtis also had a great sense of humor because I was struggling on tying a certain knot. I didn't know the class was watching me struggle. As I tried my hardest to mimic Curtis' knot, Curtis jokingly said, "I'll be grading you on your knot." I would have failed. Great course! Highly recommend!

I have done CPR/FirstAid/AED training 2 times before (this was my third time) and I can honestly…read moresay that this was the best training I have ever done! Not only did I learn more in this training, but it was more enjoyable and a better use of my time (didn't drag on). The best part was that this was a hybrid course and I completed the majority of it online first - it is official Red Cross online training (you can even go back and access it later if you want as a refresher). The amazing part about it being online was the online training was very informative - it was very simulation based (like a video game) where you had to assess the situation and make different choices. I learned more this way than I ever did before because it was actually practical knowledge that I got to apply. Then by the time I attended in person we went over everything we learned online using the in person training aids (mannequins, AEDs, first aid bandages/wraps, etc.) and that was such a great reinforcement of what I learned online that this time the knowledge really sunk into my brain and I feel more confident knowing the skills than I ever have before. Also, in person the trainer, Brenden, was very entertaining and such a wealth of information. In addition to the training, he shared with us real life examples and stories to add to our knowledge which was very helpful. Because it is Covid, we wore our masks the entire time, sat 6 feet apart and had our own materials to work with (we didn't share and we didn't work with a partner). I felt super safe and I learned a lot! I highly recommend Key CPR to everyone! It is sooooo much better than other programs I learned in the past!

There were some details that turned me away, but it's too petty and ridiculous to post here at the moment. They had openings the very next month, but since classes only have 8-9 students, it's hard to believe that it wasn't full already. Although the classrooms looked cool, and I enjoyed the tour, there was this feeling like they were only after students' money and not their well-being. I guess I would have preferred speaking with one of the teachers, and not a counselor/advisor that doesn't quite have the expertise in the field. They have the limited X-ray license program for a year with morning/evening options. I forget the pricing, but I was told that many students choose this private schooling because of the community college waiting lists. Also, the presentation was extremely short and felt like it was cut short. Regardless, I would personally rather go through public education somewhere like Cypress, Mt. SAC, El Camino, LACC, etc.

I know a lot of folks take this class for job requirements (nanny, caregiver, Healthcare provider, etc.), but for me, it's really important to know CPR as a mom. I have a little one and one more on the way. Kids can easily choke, fall in the water, etc. I think every parent needs to take this class. That's my why. What's yours? On to the class! Alicia who runs the course has been a nurse for over ten years and actually is the education director for a local college. She's taught this course to hundreds to students who graduate to become CNAs. She knows her stuff! She's also really patient with questions and helps to explain things in an easy to understand manner. This is a mobile service, so she comes to you, whether it's your home or workplace. She brings her materials, dummies you practice on, and all. Easy peasy. The class itself covers adult, child, and infant CPR, breathing, choking, and even how to use an AED. I recall the course I took at the hospital did not include the AED portion. I'm glad we went over that. We practiced the skills in teams and even individually. I feel really confident after this hands on class that I know what to do in an emergency. It took about 2.5 hours total, and if you care, you get a certification card as well. These skills are invaluable, and I highly recommend to anyone.
