I used to live right down the street from this adorable storefront - but I moved to Phoenix AZ eight years ago - I have continued to use Jodi and Acanthus exclusively for any floral arrangements needed in the TC ever since. The storefront itself is worth a visit. It has such cute gifting options. But Jodi's artistry is the main star - get yourself a florist like her! She never disappoints!! I've used her for happy occasions, funerals, and in between. I usually order online via her website and choose "florists choice" - you can pick a price range and leave notes about color, flower types, themes, etc. She nails the vibe I'm going for every time. I've ordered flowers from this shop every year for almost 10 years now. Initially because they are in my mom's neighborhood, I'm in California, and they were willing to guarantee timely delivery long after other florists in the area (I'm sometimes a bit last minute-y). I've reordered from them however again and again, not just for Mother's Day either but for birthdays and just random times because they are really nice and the pictures I get back of the arrangements from my mom never make me feel like I should have gone elsewhere. If you think it's a little expensive then compare what your arrangements look like when completed! Give her your price range and why you are sending them. She will put together a beautiful and unique arrangement. This is a darling little shop tucked into the edge of Powderhorn/Corcoran/Bancroft/Standish. The shop owner was friendly and helpful and the shop itself has some fun treasures. The downside for me was I really didn't find what I wanted at a reasonable price. I didn't ask about pricing for other more standard items however. read more

After a colleague died, I was in search of a heart shaped floral spray to be present for his memorial service. After researching the various local florists websites and seeing what they had to offer, I wasn't impressed with their arrangements and felt the prices didn't match the effort. So, I contacted Acanthus to see if this is something they could do and they said, "No problem!". The floral spray was really quite spectacular and, as it turned out, the family placed the spray next to my colleague's urn for the service. I reached out to Acanthus Floral art about a month before my wedding. Originally we were thinking we would not do any formal flowers mostly because of cost, but I started to rethink that as the wedding got closer. I am so happy we did! Jodi at Acanthus sat down with me and talked me through my options for our price range. She was so thoughtful and helpful and didn't put any pressure on me in terms of cost, in fact she was really descriptive of how to stay within our budget. Also since I hadn't put much thought into the flower arrangement itself, I only had vague ideas of what I wanted it to look like and what types of flowers might go in it. She had so many great suggestions and put together a bridal bouquet that was more beautiful than I could have imagined! We went with a wildflower aesthetic and so we got a bunch of bulk flowers and arranged them ourselves for the tables. She made the bridal bouquet and a boutonniere for my fiance, now wife :). We are same sex couple and sometimes wedding things make you really nervous, since you don't want someone who is supposed to be helping you all of the sudden refuse to work with you or make you feel terrible... it was so comfortable with Jodi, I don't even think she assumed I was marrying a man. She just asked what I might be interested in and asked about the person I was marrying. I highly recommend Acanthus floral.
