This place is a top shelf 10! The atmosphere is great, people are always nice. Food isn't always spectacular, I wouldn't compare it to a Michelin star restaurant. However, in the same breath I've never been mad at a meal there. The black and blue steak pasta, the meat could be a higher grade for the price. However the sauce carries the dish! The whipped feta dip, with the hot honey you'll never miss. Best part about this place is they have bottles of Amstel Light, and can make an awesome old fashioned! Took my 75 year old dad here, first restaurant in a while that carried Amstel. It made his night, I'll forever bring him back whenever he is in town so he can have his beer! Please do not change a thing! This place is spectacular. I just hope I'm always able to find a table. I would sit at the bar and be there more if the bar was just a bit bigger! read more

My husband and I pass Southside on our way to the grocery store every week, and finally decided to give it a try. Boy, were we glad we did. We called on Easter morning, and were able to obtain a mid day reservation which was wonderful. We both tried the brunch menu, and both our meals were delicious. Husband had the eggs Benedict with home potatoes, I had the breakfast tacos- add chorizo and cheese with asparagus on the side. The hollandaise sauce on the benny was yummy- it is always something we are both particular about. Even though it was Easter, our server never seemed overwhelmed or like she was rushing us to leave the table. We got to enjoy a beer and a mimosa without her feeling like she was pushing more alcohol on us. Quaint little space that wasn't too loud, had a nice family friendly atmosphere. 12-20-25. Birthday dinner at 6pm. The bday card at the table was great, the server was awesome. Now let's get to the 2 filets that were ordered. They were both ordered medium and showed up RAW and tough as leather. The waitress was great about taking it back to have it cooked more. Let me reiterate, the waitress was GREAT about it. The problem came when the lady "manager" stuck her nose in. She brought both of them back and 1 was ok and the other was still raw. She was told, it was supposed to be medium, to which she responded "this is our type of medium" with such a condescending attitude that we almost left right there. The reply to the attitude was " WELL DONE THEN!". When it finally came back, it wasn't even wanted by then. There was no offer of "can we make it right?" just more attitude, from the manager, NOT the waitress. The manager couldn't even be bothered with anyone in the regular dining area, she had her nose firmly stuck up the butts of the party on the patio. Of the 3 of us, my black and blue tortellini was the only meal that was good. I do not recommend this place unless they start ordering better filets and hire a better manager and some better cooks. read more

Had a great time here celebrating a birthday. Southside has been here a long time and for good reason. The ambience is upscale and the food matches that upscale feel. We ordered and had our food within 20 minutes or so. I got the kobe gouda truffle burger with fries. The fries were good, but nothing that will blow your mind. The burger on the other hand had about 4 slices of bacon, gouda plenty of arugula, and truffle oil. Fantastic burger and I heard the other chicken dishes at the table were really good as well. For a nice dinner or date night this place seems like a great shout. Happy hour also has some great deals on alcohol. Give them a try! read more

We typically love this place, but Father's Day weekend somewhat set a different tone. I took my husband out to dinner for a Father's Day date night. Reservation for 6:45pm on Saturday. We got the beef bruschetta which used to come with five pieces, now only served with four? My husband got the nightly special which was blackened mahi mahi with crab on top. The mahi mahi was sooooo dry!! Even with the sauce on it. But no biggie, overall food and drinks were "fine" we chucked it up to an off night for the kitchen. But what really got us, was how dang hot it was in the restaurant! We got stuck in the back little room, where I had to go searching for a server after waiting almost 10 mins. Poor girl was soaked in sweat when she finally made it to our table. It was 80 degrees in that restaurant. When we sat down the thermostat was already at 78 (set to 68) and continued to crawl up for the duration of our meal. We told the waitress "wow, it's so hot in here!" And she replied with basically that they were all struggling with the temperature inside. I asked if they were having problems, and she replied with yes! Why have the restaurant open? Or why continue to accept guest without giving a warning at the very least? We get it, things happen, things break, off nights for the kitchen. Etc. But if the inside of a restaurant is climbing over 80 degrees in temp, your people should be aware before seating. What a bummer of a treat for my husband. read more

Nice and intimate ambient setting on the enclosed patio with a gorgeous fireplace! The server was incredibly friendly and checked in on us often. We ordered the calamari and beef bruschetta as our starters - both were great! I was surprised at how good this take of bruschetta was! The only things that were a little off for us was that they brought out our mains a couple minutes after we had just been served our starters so we had to quickly scoff down a plate to make room on the table. It was Valentine's Day so hopefully this isn't the standard. Secondly, we ordered a classic Kobe burger and the braised pork ragu for our mains and they were both so incredibly under seasoned, and the bottom bun of my burger was so soggy it had practically disintegrated by the time it got to the table lol. I ate here one year ago and left underwhelmed. My opinion of Southside Grill has completely changed after this weekend! To start off, we ordered Beef Bruschetta. This is a MUST HAVE. The steak bits were so tender and juicy. Each bite produced an explosion of flavors. A blend of sharpness from the cheese, mildness from the tomatoes, and aromatics from the basil created the perfect appetizer. We also got Arancini, which are fried risotto balls. It has a mild flavor, but still delicious. The inside risotto was very soft and creamy with a crisp outer layer. The marinara sauce had a kick. Get the scallops! They were literally smooth like butter. The sauce on top was tangy and complemented the shellfish amazingly. I got risotto and grilled broccolini as my sides. I also tried a price of my friend's filet mignon (medium rare) and it was tender and juicy. Our service was fantastic. There doesn't seem to be a dress code; I saw some groups dressed up, while others sported athleisure. The prices of the food are definitely high end. My advice: don't be afraid to spend a little more for the higher price items. They are so worth it. My only wish is that the portions were bigger. read more

The food is consistently fresh and prepared to perfection. We've even brought friends and family here, and other posh restaurants in Franklin, and they've all preferred Southside. A few items to consider on the menu: Calamari: the best I've had outside of New England Beef Bruschetta: we get it every time Tortellini: a favorite of mine Chicken: bistro/brasserie or pistachio: always great Fish: they've recently added redfish (drum) and it's delicious, but lately it's been outshined by the blackened mahi-mahi, which is outstanding.
