I've had many different dishes here from the Menudo to the caldo de pescado to the tacos (Menudo is only served on Sundays). Everything is excellent. The table salsa is fantastic and the salsa picante (verde y roja) is spicy hot and muy bien. This has been one of the worst Mexican restaurants we've had, they don't use Mexican cheese they use mozzarella cheese, we got huraches they put Pico de Gallo on top wich is not they the right way to prepare, my wife asked the waitress if the huarache came with fresh crumbling Mexican cheese on top she said I think is parmesan cheese, and the sweet tea was the nastiest prepared with straight tap water we had to ask the waitress to bring something else. This place is the most authentic Mexican food I've ever had! Great prices and huge portions. We got the steak burrito, so good and can easily feed two people. Love their home made corn tortillas. Decent food. I had the nacho supremo no beans and with chicken. My nachos should have come with Pico and sour cream but it didn't. I did get a nice, curled sliver of foil right on top. Just showed me a microwave was used, but figured that already. The salsa is delicious, good amount of cilantro and not crazy spicy, so I could enjoy the tastes of all the ingredients. My co worker had the mole sauce on hers and said it was way too sweet and obviously went through the microwave. I wouldn't even give this 1 star. Terrible service. It took 3 people to get us seated. I ordered a margarita and my husband got a Dr pepper. The margarita was full of salt at the bottom. The Dr pepper was awful. We asked if we could please get 2 cokes instead and our server Maria brought us back 1 water. We were never checked on. We had to hurry and get back to our baseball tournament and had to get our food to go. I asked if I could get the 2 cokes to go that I never got and she had an attitude. Brought me my drinks and set them on the bar with an attitude and gave me 1 straw and walked off. Our food was wrong and my chicken quesadilla was super dry. Delicious, authentic Mexican food from the chips and salsa to the horchata and tamarindo. I had the mole enchiladas which were great! Next time I'll try to mole burrito. My husband's shrimp burrito covered in salsa verde was a huge hit with him. They didn't have shrimp burritos on the menu but they made it for him anyway. We have been searching for an authentic Mexican restaurant since moving here from Southern California where we were spoiled with good Mexican restaurants and taco trucks. First visit, noon on a Sunday. Mostly Latino crowd. I ignored the chips and salsa and ordered the chicken Enchiladas Mexicanas. Rice and beans, perfect! Enchiladas even better! A nice creamy enchilada sauce. Wow, good Mexican food in middle TN! I returned on a Saturday night at 7pm and the owner was not there. The tacos al pastor were good, but not hot and were served on a cold plate. I also ordered beans and rice on the side, and not just the plate was cold, so was the food!! I came back a few weeks later at 11am on a weekday for a late breakfast. But they don't have any breakfast items, so I had an early lunch instead, chicken nachos. It was great, with the owner sitting right there by the door. However, I don't recommend the Chilaquiles, which is an overpriced nacho and beans dish. Mine was salty and the carne asada was quite tough. My advice, don't go too late when the owner isn't likely to be there. Or go to Senor Burrito in La Vergne, where the owner's always there, and the enchiladas are great (other items not so great). read more

The salsa is delicious. (Overheard a guy asking for the recipe.) The waitstaff is very friendly and attentive, and the Enchiladas Verde were great. Don't be fooled by the humble exterior and location, you'll be glad you stopped in. I will definitely be back. Also, be sure to ask what other salsas they have. The food is outstanding: wonderful homemade corn tortillas come with the Carne Asada, delicious salsa, great guacamole and the chicken enchiladas suizas were very good. Although they were very busy the Sunday we went, they seated us within 15 minutes. The service was average and the food took too long. It's not very clean. The parking is limited. Been in Nashville for a few years now and after moving here from the Gulf of Mexico area I wrote off any and most all food in these parts. Hey I love Granny's Biscuits and Gravy but come on! This is my second order from AB.The Gordia,and I ordered two, was just fantastic! Why, because it reminded me of a time when I was down south the street food was where it was at! Not to get into politics but there was a time when you could travel down and not have to worry! Ordered the Tex-B also and with the green sauce. All I got to say is, GO GREEN! It's REAL! The Tacos al Pastor were just good and the Enchilada Mexicanas, beans and rice just great! We have eaten at this restaurant several times. This time we ordered takeout with a simple order of Chimichanga and Chicken Fajita. My son picked it up and brought it all the way home only to find out they left the flour tortillas that you wrap the meat and veggies in. When I called to let them know, they said it was okay because it was just the tortilla. I mean, that is like ordering a burger and not getting the bun. I asked for a credit and was told they would only give me the tortillas they left out when they open tomorrow. Really??? What am I going to do with flour tortillas the next day? I work nearby, and finally got around to trying this place today after eying it warily for months. I was very surprised! I had a grilled fish taco which was EXCELLENT. I got slightly adventurous and tried the salvadoran pupusa ( pork & cheese in a pita-like bread pocket ) which was really tasty. It came with a little side of curtido (pickled slaw) which was great. Every dish had a different bottle of sauce to go with it. Total price (tax included) about $5.50 ... that is very hard to beat for this quality food. My officemate got similar food and was similarly impressed. There was almost nobody in, but the service was fast & super-friendly. I hope this place sticks around because we will probably make it a regular stop for lunch. read more

I've always thought you can tell how good a Mexican restaurant is by the beans- and the beans here are AMAZING! I'm originally from the Southwest, and have been looking for great- AUTHENTIC Mexican food here in Nashville for the past year and a half- and I've finally found it! My husband and I have been back 4 times in the last couple of months. All the food is delicious and you can't go wrong with any of the dishes. We get something different every time we go and have yet to leave without having to unbutton the top button of our pants. This place is seriously good. Don't be deterred by the location (I think it used to be a Waffle House) or the decor. The wait staff is fantastic and the quality of food is the best Mexican food I've tried since moving to Nashville. And the prices are very reasonable. read more

Less than mediocre food but out of desperation I figured I'd give them a second chance. After waiting over an hour for delivery, I called the restaurant asking for status and they replied by telling me they'd call me back to check on my order. I placed my order through Grubhub and provided my confirmation # only to have them tell me they had no order for me and that I should call grubhub to get my money back. They were incredibly rude and seemingly didn't care to help me. I called grubhub and they said that not only was the order submitted to the restaurant but it was CONFIRMED. So basically these people were too lazy to check and didn't care enough to help me place a new order. I will not be a returning customer ! read more
