There were quite a few people already when we arrived but were seated quickly. Our waiter Chris, took our drinks order and gave us more time to decide. So many choices! I got the pork chimichangas, and my friends got chicken chimichangas and tacos. We each loved our choices. Highlights were the sides which were the pico de gallo and guacamole. Today was my first time here. It definitely won't be my last time. The restaurant is 45 minutes from my house and worth the drive. I wanted to try a new place and I am so glad I found this authentic Mexican restaurant. The food is so delicious. The service was perfect. We were looking for a quick snack on way home and my husband could not believe I ( well thanks to Yelp ) found a 5 star Mexican place that we did not even know existed. What a great find! It used to be an Indian place few years back and the new owner took over LY. Authentic, warm, amazing customer service which is kind of rare to find these days. Delightfully delicious! We were greeted warmly by our hostess and seated promptly. The restaurant layout is open, fastidiously clean and visually appealing. Warm chips and a tangy salsa arrived with glasses of ice water. We ordered main courses without appetizers because we wanted to save room for dessert. Service was quick but never rushed. My enchiladas mole were VERY good, probably the best I have ever had. The seasoning was spot on, and the accompanying rice and refried beans were prepared with as much care as the entree...excellent! My wife enjoyed her version of enchiladas, served with red sauce and black beans, just as much. The fresh lemonade and horchata were tasty and an excellent meal accompaniment. My wife ordered the flan for dessert and I chose sopapillas with ice cream. The flan was creamy and the sopapillas were sweet and cinnamon infused; both were perfect endings to a fantastic meal. Cons: Though the presentation of the $15 guacamole was promising with the big stone bowl and the table-side preparation, what was served was mealy and bland. No garlic. Not enough real lime juice. (What was she squeezing out of that plastic bottle? If it was lime juice, it was seriously watered down.) No cilantro. 2. We waited an HOUR for our main course. The servings were tiny. The chicken was as dry as sawdust. Not a penny was spent on garnishes or sauces. No cilantro. No parsley. Nothing. It was the worst Tex/Mexican meal I have ever had. For better, fancier, and faster, try Southwest Cafe, also in Ridgefield. For cheaper, try Chipotle. It is astonishing to consider all the good reviews here. What can I say? This is an update to a review posted a bit more than a year ago. The qualities that made Acapulco Grill and Bar an enjoyable experience have not only continued, but improved with time, and dedicated efforts on the part of the owners assure their customers' experience is a memorable one. On my initial experience, the warmth and genuineness of Nory and her sister, Claudia, was immediately apparent. Upon entering, you're greeted as family. One has only to observe how others are greeted, the familiarity lets you know they have a strong repeat fan base, myself included. Whether it be Yamileth, Ronny, Samantha, or Nory, herself, taking orders, they remember their customers, and it's a lovely feeling indeed. Its location on Route 7 in a Days Inn, might well be why it can be overlooked. As word continues to spread of its honest value, varied and flavorful menu items, and welcoming ambiance, hopefully it will receive the notoriety it deserves. The main part of the restaurant is cheerful and open, stepped in one area, and is simply and tastefully decorated, the linens fresh and table runners of authentic Mexican fabrics and designs. There is a separate party/banquet/ buffet room off the darkened bar, replete with tequilas and pottery mugs for mezcalitos lining the shelves. Happy Hour runs from 3-6 PM, Tuesdays to Fridays (closed Mondays), offering 2 for 1 margaritas, a selected reduced price beer and wine list, and a variety of appetizers. Standouts here include the jalapeño poppers, the fajita quesadillas, and birria tacos. Fresh totopos corn chips and salsa are brought immediately. Prices are competitive with restaurants in the area, weighted more toward the value side, despite the ever increasing costs of running a business, let alone a restaurant. Ah, the food... The traditional warmth readily apparent extends into the menu, replete with not only tried and true Mexican favorites such as quesadillas, flautas, fajitas, tacos, and the like, but more recently expanding horizons to include the traditional dishes of Puebla, where Nory and Claudia are from. I hadn't known that Puebla is credited as the birthplace of the revered mole poblano sauce, a labor-intensive dish including up to fifty different ingredients. I can't get enough of their enchiladas mole; the richness and depth of flavor is addicting. Another traditional dish is the cochinita pibil, pork marinated with annatto, sour orange, garlic and onion, and cooked in a banana leaf. Their birria, similarly, achieves a complexity of taste of its own right. In taco form, or as an entree, you can taste the authenticity of their family's recipe. I was pleasantly surprised, as well, when I ordered a chimichanga. In many Mexican restaurants, they are bland and heavily-weighted from the fryer. Not so, here; it was light and crispy, with an almost phyllo-like crunch. I'm looking forward to sampling the myriad other offerings. I've got an eye on that churro cart. Unfortunately, I'm usually too full to save room for dessert. As I'm writing this, it's a Monday, the one day of the week they're closed. (Insert melancholy violin music here...) Already I'm thinking guacamole and hibiscus margaritas, rimmed with tajìn. And the mole, always the mole. read more

Overall this place was good, but not a stand-out. I'd come back sometime though. Friendly staff. Starting with the good... The prices were fantastic. Best prices around by far. It is one of the few place you can go these days and not break the bank. All prices easily 15% cheaper than other ones nearby. The other huge standout was the staff. They were all extremely kind and attentive. The owner came out to say hi and he was super nice. The waitresses also were fantastic! Now for the improvement areas... The ambiance was nothing special, but had some nice features. They could add more decor to make it better. The food was average. Actually hard to rate because it depends on what you get. The enchiladas were awesome, the chimichanga was average, the rice was average, and the beans were way too salty. The chips and salsa were good though. The margaritas were slightly above average, but they were not well mixed, so there were weird ice chunks all over the place. Good taste though. Overall I'd come back. Ridgefield is lucky to have some amazing restaurants, but we have been missing a great Mexican since we lost Panchos and Gringos 15 years ago! Well, no more! We entered Acapulco Grill & Bar with trepidation, given our experience with previous restaurants in this space but we were effusively greeted by one of the owners. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. The service was impeccable; attentive and interesting. My mantra with restaurants is if there are people eating there of the same ethnicity as the food, it's probably good, and our only company on this mid-afternoon Friday were a Hispanic young man and his father. The margarita I ordered was exceptional, and mixed fresh - people who know me know I'm particular about mine. The food was also made fresh to order, the tortilla chips and salsa homemade and delicious, my steak quesadilla absolutely on point in taste and tenderness, his veggie burrito full of beans and fresh veggies. The owner's recipe hot sauces were excellent and, given the fact I am not a lover of chilis, I would happily go back and eat them again. The owner was happy to tell us that they make their own tortillas fresh as well. You could taste the love. I was so blown away by the food that I felt the need to come away and write my first Yelp review!! Nory, I absolutely wanted another margarita but it was 4pm and I'm not quite there yet! Super disappointed with this place. We came in with the intention to get a to-go order, and thought it would be fun to waste a little time at the bar. The hostess/bartender/server was nice, but the place itself it a little lacking. The bar is kind of in a separate room to the side with some little paper decorations hanging, but that's it, & my buddy's margarita was good, but said it had almost no alcohol in it. I ordered veggie fajitas and a chicken tamale. Now, I understand that my fajitas aren't going to come in a box with a sizzling cast iron skillet, but the vegetables weren't even sautéed! They were steamed or boiled in oil, probably (and I was given flour tortillas instead of corn). I ended up throwing it under the broiler myself, which defeats the purpose of takeout; that was a $17 bowl of steamed vegetables!!! The tamale was fine; it had wayyyyyy more cornmeal than I'm used to having, so it was almost like eating cornbread with chicken in the middle, and they served it with a ton of sauce on top (no husk), but the sauce wasn't very flavorful. Weird note; the beans reminded me of KFC; it's more like they're in a gravy (more like cannellini beans, too, versus black beans). There were a bunch of sides (guacamole, corn salsa, pico de gallo, green hot sauce, sour cream, etc), but except the regular mild salsa, they were all in little 2-tablespoon-sized cups. I guess they were meant to share, so the guacamole was enough for maybe one bite. Both our meals said they came with all these things but there was barely any and I don't think what they gave us was meant for sharing. Waste of money. read more

Acapulco is hands down one of the best Mexican restaurants I've been too. Beyond that, it has the nicest staff and owners. Each time I've been there, once with some frie ds and once with my family, the owner greets each guest and welcomes them. The house margarita is super fresh and the sangria is excellent too. They have traditional Mexican dishes and the usual tacos/burritos/fajitas. The churro dessert comes in an adorable little wooden cart. There is Dulles de Leche inside the churro with whipped cream, chocolate and Dulce de Leche dipping sauce. Amazing. Ignore the location within a Days Inn on Rt..7 and go for the service and food! read more

I ordered delivery through Doordash. For some reason I did not have the option to add a detailed review on the doordash app so I decided to come here to leave one. This is the best Mexican- American food I've had since I relocated here from Los Angeles in October. It's been a tough go here food-wise, coming from a city with endless amazing options. We live in the area and have been to Acapulco several times. They should rename it "Nory's Place" because the welcome you get by the owner makes you feel like you're walking into her home.
