Best buffet experience! Love coming for brunch with my mom, the BEST server is JUAN Herrera!!! Thank you for your hospitality!!

Since my first visit back after a few years, I've been coming here much more frequently and there are some issues I think need tending. Service is beyond slow. Takes us over 2 hours to eat here, refills are rare, have to request napkins and chips over and over. Problem is, they got one guy or gal taking over an entire dining room. The last three visits I noticed the same issue - staff running around non-stop in between guests but clearly understaffed and without proper help. I understand people may call out of shifts, or management is in the middle of hiring, people get sick, etc. But it's been this way consistently. It isn't fair to the employees or the customers. Food has been lacking a bit again lately as well. They added ribs to the menu, which, to be fair is my fault for ordering ribs at a Mexican restaurant but they came recommended and girl it was... worse than expected. There was legit charcoal on my plate. Ribs came dry, however, the meat itself wasn't bad - just lacking some sauce and seasoning. Dish came with some old fries and unseasoned corn on the cob that was slightly burnt. Desserts weren't great. Flan is always a safe favorite but this time we tried the Oreo torta and it just was bad. Had to stab at it with a spoon because it wasn't fully defrosted. Pretty inedible. Might seem silly, but my favorite part of eating at a restaurant is the chips and salsa with unlimited refills and unfortunately lacked due to insufficient staff, which as a paying customer, is disappointing. I had one good experience in the past so I am hoping this is temporary. read more

I came to Acapulco in Downey to celebrate my dad's birthday. Our server, Leslie, provided outstanding service from beginning to end. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the meal. Honestly, the service was the highlight of the visit. The food, however, was a bit underwhelming. I ordered the chicken enchiladas suizas and, to my surprise, they came with chicken cubes. Yes... chicken cubes. It was a little laughable, but then again, it is Acapulco, so perhaps I should have known what to expect. While the food didn't really impress me and I probably wouldn't come back for another meal, I do want to give credit where it's due, Leslie's service was excellent and made the experience much more enjoyable. read more

Located at the Stonewood Center (Firestone and Lakewood Blvd), this restaurant offers a spacious, organized layout with plenty of free parking. I visited with a party of 20 for a birthday celebration; we had reservations and were seated in a semi-private section for a buffet dinner from 7 PM to 9 PM.  While the food, beef and chicken fajitas, rice, beans, and salad was tasty, the service was a bit slow. Despite having a large group, we only had one server, which made getting drink refills difficult, especially odd since we were serving ourselves at the buffet. I also found it strange that we weren't allowed to take any of our leftovers home. On the plus side, the Saturday night atmosphere is great, with a DJ in the adjacent bar area. Overall, it was a solid visit, but the service for large groups could definitely be improved. read more

Came here for Happy Hour which was recommended for me to try out, since I had no idea about it. Order the BIRRIA TACOS which surprisingly they were actually good (even though they give you a little cup of consome). Next thing were the CHICKEN TAQUITOS, eh, didn't care for them much, no me they were nothing to brag about. Another item I got were the CARNE ASADA FRIES, same thing, nothing to brag about, I've had better. Moving on to drinks, I ordered the MARGARITA FLIGHT & ACAPULCO BREEZE, both were actually pretty good, but if I had to choose, it would be the Margarita Flight. I attended another retirement party in this location. Our office usually plans the retirement parties in this location because of the menu and all you can eat buffet. Food was great. I got chicken tacos, salad and pasta. Everything that I got was good. Food was fresh and tasted good. No complaints about the food. Our server was very attentive and friendly. Where else can you get happy hour margaritas for $4 or $5? Views are amazing, especially at sunset. This isn't a review for the food since vegan options are super limited, but the service we got tonight was worthy of a great review. Rafael helped us on the patio and he was one of the best servers we've had anywhere lately. He was attentive and did a great job of anticipating our needs and ready for reorders or refills before drinks were empty. He was clearly juggling many tables, but did a great job of staying on top of all of them from everything we could see. Parking is ample, although you may sometimes have to walk a little. read more

I came to Acapulco on a Wednesday evening in March to celebrate my birthday. Since I love tacos and margaritas, this seemed like the perfect spot--and it didn't disappoint. We sat in the cantina area for happy hour and caught the Laker game, which added to the fun atmosphere. I ordered the margarita flight, and it was delicious--definitely had me feeling a little buzzed (don't judge me!). Service throughout the evening was friendly and attentive. For food, I had the carne asada tacos--one hard shell, one soft. Both were tasty and satisfying. My friend went with the birria tacos and enjoyed them as well. I really wanted to like this place--and in many ways, I did. The food tasted great, the pricing was fair, and the service was genuinely excellent. The staff was friendly and attentive from start to finish. Unfortunately, the food just didn't sit well with me. I have a sensitivity to grease, and oddly enough, even though I ordered fajitas (thinking I might dodge that bullet), it didn't quite work out that way. This one's tough to rate because the experience itself was pleasant, but personally, it's not somewhere I can see myself coming back to--simply because my stomach couldn't handle it. Came here for Sunday brunch and had a great time overall! Our waiter, Luis Miguel, was excellent -- super attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. His service definitely stood out and made our visit more enjoyable. The taco stand was a nice touch, although the chef (a Hispanic lady) didn't seem to be in the best mood. That said, she still did her job efficiently and the tacos were tasty, so no complaints on the food! They had me waiting about an hour for a to go order only to tell me that it was still an un-estimated wait time because there was only one chef. If you wanna waste your time, I guess you could come here. The host could have had the courtesy to let me know that was the case upon arrival, since it was apparent she forgot to put the order in when I first got there to pick it up. The restaurant was pretty empty too. Sadly, very disappointed. They've done this to my family a couple times now sadly. We now go to El Pescador, just down the street. They provide much faster, attentive service. The food is tastier too honestly. It's sad to see this Alcapulco location fall off. read more

Stopped by for lunch ordered the appetizer platter, and shared the fajitas gigante. All food was great. I have to give props to the drinks today we ordered the jalapeño cucumber margarita (twice) and the tropical mirage absolutely tasty drinks. We decided to come and give this restaurant another try after not having the best experience the last time we were here (more than 5 years ago now). The way they remodeled it is really nice and modern, our server was kind an attentive but I could tell he was the only one on at the time he looked like he was in a rush and took a bit to bring a few items that we requested. My issue here is and was with the food, I ordered the enchiladas suizas, the sauce tasted too sweet, my rice was kind of stale, and my food came out cold. My daughter ordered the kids chicken nuggets and also came out cold, my husband and both my mother in law and husbad got the fajitas, they came out over cooked, looked and tasted dry. I was willing to give this place a try and this was definitely not worth the $150 i spent (at least in my experience). read more

They had chilaquiles, breakfast potatoes, mole, chile relleno, soups like menudo, and so much more. And of course, the desserts did not disappoint -- the flan and arroz con leche were both delicious and the perfect sweet finish to the meal. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and consistently stocked despite how busy it was. For a large group like ours, that matters. No one felt like they were missing out, and everyone found something they enjoyed. The staff really stood out. They were super attentive, quick, and genuinely kind. Even with a big group, they stayed organized and made sure drinks were refilled and plates were cleared without us having to ask. Their service made the experience smooth and stress-free, which is exactly what you want when you're with family after an emotional weekend. The value was also great for the amount of food and the number of people we had. For an all-you-can-eat brunch with that level of variety and service, it was absolutely worth it. We came here on Valentines Day at about 4:30 to beat the dinner crowd and it was fairly empty. We had reservations through Open Table but didn't need it. Our waiter was Alejandro (Alex) and he was very nice. Not super attentive but not a problem. I'm giving a low 2 stars because my Arroz con Pollo was bland and very very salty. Almost to the point where I couldn't eat it. How is this location still open? I've never gone to a restaurant on a week night that virtually empty and had slow service. Everyone was in the bar area, about five tables with only one waitress running around serving all four and one guy serving only one table in the corner. At one point our waitress needed to go on break and said the 'other one guy' would check on us. I have to describe him as one guy, because I don't know why he was, he NEVER CAME over, not once nor did ET see anyone else. We had to wait until the waitress came back from break. We had to ask for dinner menus to order food and there's no food or appetizer menus on the table. The drinks were ok, but a lot of ice, so watery. The food was just nasty. The cook should do something else. The best part was the Caesar Salad. It's not the same as the El Torito Caesar, but ok nonetheless.
