This is the best pet store in the area. All kinds of toys and treats. Any animal will be lucky to know someone who shops here.

I am a fish breeder, so this review is strictly for their fish section and customer services…read morerelated to fish. Like most other pet stores (especially regarding fish), it is hit or miss. For a while i brought fish here to trade for store credit and would use the credit to get new specimens to freshen the gene pools of my aquariums full of home bred and raised livebearers. Unfortunately, most of the fish i got from here ended up dying within a week or so. I am not sure if it is issues with bad genetics, stress, water chem etc.. All i know is i have established tanks full of a few hundred fish being born, raised and moved on at any time and the only fish i have that die are the ones I get from this store. I do have a healthy Bristlenose Pleco i got from here, and one stunning sailfin molly, so it is not all bad. However, i can say with confidence that 9/10 of the livebearers (swordtail, molly, guppy, platy) i get from here don't make it a month. It is really nice of them to offer credit for stock, (honestly it should be standard but not all stores do it) but unfortunately not only were the fish I was buying back unhealthy, the supplies/food i would buy from there was priced higher than i see elsewhere. Brenden and Cole are 2 really nice and friendly guys who care about the animals and the customers.

Too many sick and dead fish. Too little selection. The fish keeper would rather be on his phone…read morethan tend to the tanks or become more knowledgeable. I gave it a few visits over a period of 10 months. Same experience.

THAT SAID, as someone who has lived in the community for decades and as a regular customer who has politely made requests or offered feedback as someone who DESPERATELY WANTS/NEEDS A NEIGHBORHOOD STORE THAT SELLS QUALITY CAT RESOURCES AT REASONABLE PRICES- Bone Appetite is NOT it. They offer a very limited selection of goods for felines while Dog Items and Services are wonderful, even OUTSTANDING. In fact, since the pandemic, they offer LESS cat products while still maintaining dog supplies and adding new dog items. So.....this place is phenomenal for ONLY DOG people. Cat People continue to be ignored, disrespected and just hated on. Luckily, in these hard times, I can just share my chicken, turkey and fish with my furbaby and call it a day. Amazon supplies my cat litter. The Dollar Store offers cheap toys. This Chestnut Hill store is always clean. The employees are friendly and polite. It's a boutique store that is specific to canine clients. They don't pretend to cater to other animals- its BONE Appetite with a DOG on the Window. LOL, its all good. Cat people know how to survive. But if you are a newbie and think you might find something for your feline friend- don't waste your time. I only go because its near my home but even then, it's ONLY for other people's dogs, not for my sweet ball of fur. They fresh assorted meat jerky is a nice new addition for easy treat purchases that are excellently priced.

Laurel House recommended that I bring my dog Daisy here after I suspected that my ex hurt her…read more Everyone that we met with was incredible. The care, compassion and kindness that they gave Daisy and I were unmatched. Really amazing experience !. Maureen showed so much compassion when I called and followed up to get Daisy in quickly. Marissa and Chastine checked on Daisy often while we waited and made sure she was comfortable. They, gave her water and love. They even came out to meet us at the car to make sure we entered thru the right door. I was really impressed with Dr. Aime Berman. She was working on a cat that had swallowed a piece of yarn that had tangled up her intestines. The yarn was stuck in several places but she didn't give up. She didn't call it. She worked until she completely removed the yarn. That is the kind of vet I want. One that doesn't give up. She really cares. They are opening a clinic here to treat animals and are open for appointments now. If you need veteran care for your pets I highly recommend you give them a call. The care is excellent and the prices you can't beat. They were one third the price of other vets. They want to help people keep their pets and give their pets the care they need. Give them a call. I'm so glad that I did.

We recently brought a stray cat that we had been feeding for 2 weeks to the Montgomery County SPCA,…read moreand our experience was deeply disappointing. The cat was quarantined for seven days and given gabapentin without our knowledge. Had we known he would be medicated and kept in a dark cage for a full week, we would have made different choices for his care. After the quarantine, the SPCA performed a TNR and released him to us the same day he was neutered early that morning. Typically, cats should have 24 hours to recover from surgery. The carrier they returned him in was old, smelled strongly of urine, and--most concerning (and unbeknownst to us)--was not secured properly. When we got home and set the carrier down in our yard, he escaped immediately. We had a safe home lined up for him and never intended for him to go back outside. It has now been over a week, and he has not returned. When we contacted the SPCA about the unsecured carrier and the situation overall, the staff did not seem overly concerned or empathetic. For an organization whose mission is to ensure the safety and well‑being of animals, this was incredibly discouraging. We trusted them with a vulnerable stray, and we regret that decision. We believe the week he spent confined, medicated, and stressed contributed to the outcome we're now facing. We hope no one else has to go through an experience like this.
