Zero Stars. I came in today for a haircut. I had my hair nice and long. I asked for layers and my hair to be cut below the boob and I also asked for long cut bangs that framed my face. I even showed inspo pics twice. I should've spoken up about not liking it but I was so upset I just wanted to leave. I got my hair done in April and I loved the results! It was about $200 for highlights with color(about average price). They are very professional and super friendly. Esmeralda is the best. I usually cut my own hair,( YES myself) however I was pregnant, feeling down and wanted a instant boost and something different. So, I waddled in and was seated within 5 mins, Esmeralda got to work. She used the usual scissors plus a blade I was in and out and she totally transformed my hair effortlessly. However, after it grew out I went back and she was off that day (Monday) and I had someone else cut it. Worse haircut ever. So point is story is ask for Esmeralda. I really wish I can give this dump a zero star rating for their poor excuse of customer service. I made my appointment a little over a month before to get my hair done for my wedding. My appointment was on a Monday at 10am (which is the time they open) with Helen. I was outside of the business at 9:50am and was waiting. 10:05am still waiting, 10:10am...10:15am still waiting!!! I called them at 10:15am and told them I was waiting outside and that the salon was still closed. I went across the street and luckily there was someone who was available to do my hair. 11:30am comes around and still no phone call from Access Salon. So, I called them and the front desk chick informed me that Helen had called out sick (which is completely fine) however, a PHONE CALL would have been appreciated or they should of booked me with someone else for my time slot!! The only thing that the front desk person could say was " I am so sorry, we got here at 10:25, I don't know what to say". Pathetic. I told her I would never come back. This is a great place for me since it is conveniently located in the Mission really close to the 24th and Mission Bart station. I went here one time after work and I have just kept coming back. They allow walk-ins, the wait has never been long, and the stylists are very kinda and professional. If possible I would give this place a zero. I came in with elbow length hair looking to get a cut a little below shoulder length at all one length. I showed the lady (a young girl about 23) a picture of what I wanted and she assured me it would look the same. A few cuts later I was looking at at shoulder length hair. I asked her to stop. She had already cut too much. Then she told me I needed layers or else I was going to look like a mushroom and asked if she was going to do layers on just the ends or more. I asked for her to thin and she cut layers. But not modest layers, she cut huge chunks from my hair and when I asked for her to stop she said "Well its not even so I have to keep going" and proceeded to cut more. Long story short I now have chin length hair and very hideous looking short layers that are uneven and went home and cried. P.S. They did not donate my hair read more

I have been going to this hair salon for about 8 years. I get my hair done by Esmeralda and she is amazing!!!! I damaged my hair really bad twice and she has brought it back to life. She listens to what you want and makes sure you are happy, I have gotten hair cuts, highlights, ombre, etc and I am ALWAYS 100 % satisfied with her. I live all the way in Antioch and drive to San Francisco just to get my hair done with Esmeralda. Helen does my sisters hair and it always looks amazing as well. Very welcoming place, always clean. I am so disappointed. Ive heard so many good things about Esmeralda but I am so upset about my hair I will never come back again. Esmeralda was not wiling to fix my hair after I went in person to explain my concerns in hope that she would offer to fix it, but she didn't instead she gave me excuses, I left very unhappy and my $260 were definitely not worth what I got. Now I will have to go somewhere else to pay more to get it fixed. In addition the reseptionist is not nice at all. She has a really bad attitude and the first time I went she was talking bad about a customer to Esmeralda right after she spoke with a customer through the phone which I thought was very unprofessional. I do not recommend Esmeralda or this hair salon to anyone. Please do your research before, I do NOT recommend this place. read more

Been going there for maybe about a year. Monica is meticulous! I always get compliments. She is my go-to, but also had a cut by a couple other gals and always a good job. Try to make an appointment and get there a bit before. If a big color job comes in before you, you might be waiting. Also great with kids cuts and very affordable. Tip big because you can! read more
