Mr. Ono was super detailed and took his time cutting, washing, and styling my hair to the style I wanted so super appreciative of him! It was $90 for the extra long women's haircut. I typically ask for layered haircut kind of similar to a butterfly haircut, and I think he delivered. There was a nice massage hairwash too. I took a photo the day after of my haircut so the styling wore off. I love how he took extra time to check every layer while cutting and styling! Bonus points for their super cute doggo in the shop. She told me she could do it, but unfortunately, it became clear during the haircut that she did not know how to achieve the style. She cut my hair short and then tried to use a hairdryer and comb to make it look like the pictures, but it did not work. I showed her the reference photos again and asked if she could get help from someone else. She asked a colleague, who showed her how to cut the style, but she still seemed unsure how to do it. Eventually, the owner had to step in and finish the haircut for me. For a long-hair haircut that cost about $100 total ($85 for the haircut plus a $15 tip), I was very disappointed with the experience. At this price point, I expected the stylist to be able to achieve the hairstyle she had confirmed she could do, or to be upfront from the beginning if it was outside her expertise. Unfortunately, based on my experience, it was not worth the price or time.

Alexis gave me one of the best haircuts I've ever gotten. She was patient and consultative, and really took the time to get to know me and my hair. I have curly hair so finding a stylist who gets it can be sort of a nightmare for me, but she was incredibly knowledgeable and took all of my concerns and requests seriously. She asked me plenty of questions about my hair, the products I used, etc, which normally leads into a very sales-ey angle, but she didn't try to sell me any expensive salon brand products. Just recommended that I start adding conditioner to my hair before I surf. Also, the worst part of many haircuts for me is the blowout at the end because they always style my hair straight and weird looking. But she took the time to dry it into its curl so it would look more like my natural hair. Such a small thing but honestly it meant so much and went such a long way toward making me certain that this girl legitimately understands curly hair. Before I describe my haircut, let me say how happy I am to have met Patti, my stylist. Not only is she a talented stylist but she really LISTENS to what I want to do with my hair. She goes above and beyond when it comes to wanting to satisfy me as her customer. For example, if, the day after I get my hair cut or colored, I notice something in the color or cut I would like to change, she is always willing to accommodate my desires. I love going to her, for this very reason. It is such a pleasure to work with a stylist you can trust will always listen carefully and create a style and the color what you want. Ursula has been my hairstylist for about 6 years now and before I met her I rarely cut my hair as I would always get exactly the opposite of what I asked for. Honestly a visit to the dentist sounded more fun than getting my haircut. My hair had not seen scissors in about 9/10 months, so I made an appointment through the salon, luckily got Ursula, she cut my hair and now I will never go anywhere else. She cuts my hair just the way I love it, layers it so I do not have to blow dry or style! And when I do blow dry it or style it my cut looks just as amazing. Patty, the owner of Arrow Salon, has been doing my hair for a little over 3 years now. I moved out of the Bay Area almost a year ago and still drive into the city every 5 to 6 weeks to have her do my hair. I have been a loyal client at this salon for five years, but after my last visit with Becks 3.5…read moremonths ago, I will not be returning or recommending her services. During my appointment, Becks made drastic, irreversible changes to my hair without my consent. Despite explicitly knowing my hair history--including recent post-breastfeeding regrowth--and knowing I have naturally thin hair and have always kept my shortest layers at shoulder length, she cut off over 8 inches of length in sections, thinned my hair out to a third of its original volume, and cut top layers to ear-length. The result was a severely thinned-out, top-heavy mullet shape, blended down to a sparse fraction of my original length in the back. I had to stop Becks mid-haircut to ask what was happening when I noticed the heavy thinning and short chops at my ears. When I pointed out the ear-length layers, she took zero accountability and repeatedly pointed to the thin long strands in the back to claim she "kept the length." To make matters worse, during my previous couple of visits with her, Becks charged me full price for dry cuts without a shampoo, wash, or style, claiming this was her standard procedure--which was not the case for the four-plus years prior. I waited over three months to write this review to see if a few months of growth would make it manageable. It hasn't. The damage cannot even be reshaped by another stylist; my only option is to wait a full year for the ear-length layers to grow back. I now have to wear clip-in extensions every single day from the moment I wake up just to feel presentable. After five years of loyalty, I expected far better communication, technique, and basic professional accountability from Becks.

Some days I bring in references, sometimes I let her do whatever the hell she wants. You only live once. Try a different color, go through a bang phase, get the mullet, buzz that undercut, try bullet burns, get a risky euro bowl cut, rock a pompadour, go 80's, attempt finger waves, do something unexpected with those roots, opt for the UV reactive hair dye (it's called acid spill). If you think you're too boring: you're not. Too old? Wrong again. Book an appointment with Jenny and let her get to know your hair and then go on a hair journey.

I visited to blend a few grays, aiming to avoid constant dyeing. I even brought a photo of a girl with dark hair and blended grays which I attached. Instead, Aric went overboard with highlights, turning my entire head blonde--nothing like the photo. When he offered to add lowlights, I declined, as my initial request had already been grossly disregarded. While I remained calm and professional throughout, things escalated when I approached him about a refund. Aric became irate, gaslighting me by claiming I had "more grays than I realize" and dismissing my concerns as an "identity crisis." His disrespect and argumentative attitude forced me to end the conversation and block him. After paying thousands for a result I didn't ask for, this is unacceptable. Additionally, he has no liability waiver or clear refund policies, either written or verbal. Treating clients this way is a baffling approach to running a business. I feel terrible for the stylists there who are of sane mind and ethics. I attached what I asked for vs what I got. She's an unquestionable genius and can turn any hair into any other kind of hair. It's absolute magic! I would plan big nights out after a cut because we would joke about how the haircut deserved being "taken out own the town." I may not be officially allowed to say this, but a certain pop group that might be named after a WWII-era bomber may be one of her customers, but you didn't hear it from me. Leanne gets all the stars, in fact there aren't enough stars to give. And she's being super responsible about COVID too, ask her for her current policy and you will be impressed by all the safety precautions she is taking.
