I called to ask questions about the groupon offer. I didn't purchase it because she said I can just give her the cash up front but still honor the same groupon price. So good luck finding the salon because it's actually under a different name. Don't remember what it's called. Also, I was schedule for 10:30 but I didn't get started until 11 ish because she was doing her daughter's hair first. I'm not very satisfied with my hair. Well, there are many reasons why. I should start off by saying that I HAD dark brown/black hair. I requested for a light brown with partial "natural looking" highlights to frame my face BUT she insisted that I shouldn't get it because it won't look nice on me. She said wide highlights should be sexy. (I guess she's not up to date on today's hair trends.) So I was already a little disappointed because I wanted & specifically asked FULL Color light brown but walked out with uneven looking highlights & chopping layers. If you're going to tell me that a specific hair style will better than what I requested, then at least make the outcome look good but it didn't. I made an appointment at Hair Loft SF on LifeBooker for a Keratin treatment and haircut for Monday. I made the appointment on the day before; however, LifeBooker listed the appointment time as available so I took it. After driving all the way up to San Francisco from the peninsula (50 minutes), I got a call 30 minutes before my appointment from LifeBooker saying it was cancelled. Confused, I called Hair Loft SF. She had no idea what I was talking about, nor did she apologize for the cancellation. She simply asked when I wanted to reschedule. I moved to the area about a year ago and was still going down town to get my hair cut. My boyfriend has been coming here for a good while and it is much closer to home so I decided to give it a try, as my usual stylist down town was not available. I called and made an appointment with Laura for the next day (which btw was a Saturday, delighted she could fit me in at such short notice for a weekend). When I arrived there the staff were all very friendly, and i should say that they are all a little older. If youre a young hip professional looking for a young hip haircut, dont be put off by appearance and lack of skinny jeans and jagged razor do's. These stylists are great and experienced, and Laura listened to, and asked me exactly what I wanted. She did a really great job and was so attentive. It's rare you really get the exact cut that you want (there's always something small by way of compromise, after all hair stylists can't actually read minds), but this time there was nothing to compromise on, and I went home with what I had pictured. She did say that it's much easier for her when people know what they want, like I did, so if you're unsure about what you want it's helpful for people to bring pictures. Really happy and will definitely go back! I have been to some really fancy hipster salons in this city and paid 70-80 bucks just for an oveerrated, overpriced cut, so I was so happy with the prices here. Today I got my third Brazilian Blowout with Laura and couldn't be happier of the good service that I always get and how my hair has become fuller and healthier, I've never had my hair this long while being this healthy (when I started, my hair was around my shoulders). Great things to know about Laura: she's very experienced, if you say to cut a certain amount she will cut it exactly (not like in other salons where you say 1inch and they cut 3), she treats you extremely nice from the moment you call her, she pays attention to what you want/need for your hair and recommends the best option for you. I found this place on Yelp while searching for a salon to do a Brazilian Blowout, the reviews where so good (All 5stars) that I had to find out if it was really true and I'm so glad I did. I don't like to trust anyone with my hair (I used to only let my aunt cut my hair when she came to visit me once a year) but it's such a relieve to find someone who truly cares for the condition of your hair. Now that I finally come to leave a review I can't believe I see a low rating for this place, for things that really don't do justice to the good service you'll get. To get people out of doubt from these low rating (from someone who's gone there more than once!) I want to clarify some things: first, the shampoos and conditioner are always optional to buy, NOT obligatory, I personally found out the hard way that the BB shampoos and conditioner really help the treatment last longer but you can buy these at any salon. Second, my back has never been soaked, if you start feeling the water just adjust yourself better so you don't get wet or simply just tell the stylist what is happening. My hair is naturally quite curly, and after a botched up haircut from my friend who "went to beauty school"....it was frizzier than ever! I didn't want to have to write this but I just noticed that the salon is still advertising on Groupon -- WARNING: don't buy it! I went in for a highlight and the stylist dyed my blonde hair "BLUE." It was an accident and I felt terrible for the stylist but the only way to get the blue out of my hair was for her use heavy duty chemicals. I left with gray hair and I'm still dealing with the aftermath six months later. Now, on an up note, they refunded my money and I know that it wasn't done intentionally. I bought a "deal" from Living Social for a Brazilian Blowout. I had read that this process is supposed to leave your hair smooth and frizz free. That was not the case here. I've had the Japanese hair straightening process done a couple of times in the past and when I let Laura know that she said I would love the Brazilian better than the Japanese process (this is why I had such high expectations). My hair looks like I had NOTHING done to it. My hair was nice and straight when I left the salon but when I washed it, my hair was just as frizzy and wavy as before. When I did the Japanese hair straightening my hair was completely frizz free for about 9 months. I let Laura know that my hair looks the same as before and she told me that the Brazilian is only a conditioner. Had I known it was only a conditioner, I would've saved myself $150 and bought a deal for a haircut and conditioning treatment for $40 instead. I think I'll just stick to Japanese hair straightening from now on...at least I know with that process I will have straight, soft and frizz free hair and won't have to spend too much more than what I spent here. read more

Fabulous! I had been getting the coppola keratin treatment at a high end salon that shall remain nameless. It cost a fortune and the three hours for the treatment, plus three days post-treatment where I couldn't wash my hair or even put it in a pony tail had become a bit much. I decided to try the Brazilian Blowout instead. I did a quick Yelp search and found Laura at the Hair Loft. Laura is absolutely lovely and she did an amazing job with my hair. The Brazilian Blowout is a miracle for someone with thin frizzy hair like myself. It takes about an hour and a half and leaves your hair silky smooth with ZERO frizz! Laura Roytman did a phenomenal job on my long curly hair. I had a color correction done in August at the Red Chair Salon (which I wasn't a big fan of at all) and since then my hair color has changed a great deal and I ended up having three different shades of brown and copper on top of my own natural hair color that was growing out. It was a total mess. Laura did a great job matching my natural hair color and helped me attain a perfectly even all over brunette shade. Went to see Laura for highlights and cut. She asked me lots of questions to get a good sense of what I wanted, and then made the magic happen! I've had a lot of bad experiences with highlights, whether it be the stylist making them too chunky or processed looking or the color looking brassy or bleached, but Laura got it spot on. I bought a Groupon for highlights and color then she told me I had to pay an additional amount of money for a dye job on top of that to cover my grey hairs. Next time I saw her she gave me highlights that I was not satisfied with so I had to go to another stylist to tone down the color and the third time I went I asked her how much it would cost to get just my grey hair covered up she said Touch up $55-$65 plus bl/dry $25-$30. So I was charged $95 and my roots are black and don't match the rest of my hair. I kept on going back to Laura because she is so sweet but I am very disappointed in her work and frustrated with unclear pricing. The process for a the Keratin treamtment was much faster than expected which makes me think that's why it didn't work on my hair as well. I dont know how much product is supposed to be used but it didn't seem like a lot was being put on my hair. Sure it looked fabulous when I left the salon but when I washed it out, my hair looked as if nothing had happened. And I spent $50 on the special products too. I had a very bad experience, I was convinced into buying keratin shampoo and conditioner products after the treatment at more than 50% price (25$ each instead of 14.99& as available in the market). The salon definitely doesn't have a lot of aesthetic appeal, but I was more than pleased with the great job Laura did. She was extremely nice and made sure I was comfortable during the entire process. I have very long and thick hair and Laura did a great job at applying the product. She was also very careful in making sure the fumes weren't getting in my eyes. I will have to say that everyone at the salon is super friendly, super accommodating. I've known Laura for over 20 years -found her by accident. My hair is very difficult to manage, I have a lot of hair, puffy, frizzy, bleached, very damaged. The only person I truly trust to even touch my hair is Laura.
