We did a fair amount of internet research on the various suggested solutions and on the companies we had heard from. We selected Permajack of St. Louis both because we decided that their solution and methods seemed preferable and because their bid was reasonable ... not the lowest but not outlandish. Everything about dealing with them was professional. Calls were returned promptly. Questions answered quickly. The project was completed as promised and on time. The crew was respectful of our home and property and did everything they could to mitigate the noise and inconvenience. They even went so far as to hook up the washer and dryer when they were done, without being asked, after we expressed some concern about being able to use them while the cement cured. When the crew left, the work area was spotless and the whole process had been much less painful than we expected. I would absolutely recommend Permajack of St. Louis.

Their teams did an excellent job not only on my basement, but you couldn't even tell that they had to dig large holes in my front yard to anchor my foundation wall. The lawn was repaired so well I could barely tell where they dug. All of their staff were professional, on time, and cleaned up when the job was complete. We are very happy with their work.

When you need work done on your home, you want the best to do it. I got quotes from 2 other places…read morethat came in under what Woods Basements price but again, I wanted the best. I signed the contract, paid my deposit a little over 45 days in advance. I get a call from a representative with Woods Basement less than 24 hours before they were due to start at my house saying there's a scheduling conflict and they needed to change the date. I said absolutely not, I took the day off work already and was not willing to change the date. A few hours later, they called back and said they'd honor the date and they'll be at my house at 9am the next day. The next day comes and at 845am, I get a call saying they're running behind and will be there shortly. Finally, they arrived; 50 minutes late! Now I'm frustrated. They began the work. I left them alone and the 2-man crew that was working seemed to be working very diligently. I don't think they took a break but I left the house a few times so who knows. About halfway through the day, a representative called me and asked me how it was going. I told her about the crew being late and she did not care at all . She just skipped right to her next question. I made sure I said it again to which she said "scheduling conflicts." Towards the end, the head guy tells me that I could benefit from adding another piece to the drainage system and that would cost an extra $250. I was leery but I did it. They finally finished around 730/8pm. That was a long day of work for them. I wrote a check for the remainder of the balance and off they went. I didn't get the option for a receipt for payment or anything in writing for the work they did. After they left, I found my driveway filthy from the remnants the crew left behind. Gravel and dirt left where their trailer was parked. I spent 30 minutes sweeping up the mess. The battery from the back up pump that they installed was just left on the floor. I would've like to have an option to have it out of the way. Very tacky in my opinion. The next day, I go down in my basement to inspect the system and I can see daylight coming from my foundation where they drilled for the drainage pipe to discharge. I don't know anything about basement systems but I can definitely say this was not correct. The gaping holes would for sure let bugs in and my heating and cooling to escape. I waited for 7 days and called the office to voice my concerns. I spoke with Roselle. She told me to send pictures of my complaints and she would be in contact with me the next business day to schedule a time for the crew to come out. She then sends me to another department so that I could get a copy of my receipt and warranty paperwork. I was told by that department that they don't issue that paperwork normally but only if you request it. That's weird but, whatever. What business doesn't automatically issue a receipt for paid services? They then emailed it to me. The next business day comes and goes. No calls. No emails. No attempts of contact from Woods Basement. Actually, 4 business days pass with no contact so finally I called back to get something worked out. I spoke with Monica and she seemed somewhat interested in my complaints, more than the other lady for sure. She worked something out and the next day, they call and said someone would be out to fix the gaping holes that were left and they were 25 minutes away. I wasn't home so they did everything from the outside. The battery pack still looks tacky as it just sits on the floor, in the way. I guess I have to figure that part out on my own. I went with this company based on reviews and reputation alone. Again, Woods was not the best price for what I wanted done but I bypassed that and still went with them. Would I have them out again?Highly unlikely. Only for warranty issues. Would I recommend them to family and friends. Probably not. I'm having a severe case of buyer's remorse.

We hired Woods Basement to level and brace the utility room floor, because it was beginning to sag…read more The crew they sent out jacked the house up in the wrong spot and caused damage to the house. The utility room floor is still untouched, and getting worse. We've been trying to get them to fix everything and they are refusing. They even tried to deny working on the house at first because we paid cash. This has been going on for over a year now. We have the IL Attorney General involved, but Woods still has yet to rectify anything. We are expecting Woods to do the right thing especially with such a big motto to live up to and apparently with all this money they have to spend on paying people for good ratings; how about just do the right thing and earn the good rating like a good company does. Do the right thing Woods and fix our home so we don't have to go any further in this case. We know you can and we appreciate that.

Two words that make every homeowner cringe are, "Wet basement"…read more It doesn't matter if it is inches deep or just minor seeping around the edges. It's still a major repair that needs immediate attention. It's better to do it, sooner than, later. My house has only a partial basement, the majority of it is finished crawl space. I have a laundry room upstairs, so all that is in my basement is the furnace and extensive shelving units for storage. With that being stated, I rarely have any need to go down into my basement. When I did venture down after one of the early spring down pours, I discovered I had an issue. It wasn't major, but I wanted it fixed before it became one. Again, being new to the RIverbend area, I reached out to friends and family for recommendations. Everyone of them said the same thing, "Midwest Basement". So it was a no-brainer on calling them to do the job. They came and gave me an estimate, explained what they would be doing and told me what I needed to move to make the work area more accessible. When scheduling a time, they were accommodating to my unique work schedule. Best of all, it was a smooth job and they completed the job faster and easier than anticipated. I could not have been happier with the work team. They were all very professional, friendly and respectful of my property. Their clean-up at the end of each day was impressive in itself. The weather has been dry since my work was completed, so I'm waiting for the next rain to really check things out. However, a friend who used them in the past, lived in his house for another 13 years after the work was completed and never had water again. I'm hoping for the same positive results. Extra Long Post Warning:…read more I chose Stratum for my window well drainage because they have, across the board, glowing reviews. I mean glowing. By and large, those reviews are probably well earned. Here's my experience... I first met with a salesman named Matt. Matt is great. He definitely gave me a bit of a hard sell, but I get it. But I made my own decision in the end. I will say that never have I been walked through a process with as much care and detail as Matt provided. He is lovely. If anything, I would say he doesn't have to sell quite so hard. I was scheduled for a one-day job on June 20. On June 19, the head construction guy (don't remember his name, let's call him Rick) called me to say that if I really, really insisted on them coming the next day, he would make it work, but they really couldn't because they were behind. It was a bit of a strange guilt trip, but whatever. Ohhhhkay, fine. When can you schedule me?, I asked. Rick tells me, "Well, without looking at my calendar closely I can give you July 3." I thought 2 weeks was kind of an extensive delay but I haven't been busy this summer so I said okay. (I was hesitant about taking the day right before a holiday weekend, but I was assured it was a one-day job.) So July 3 arrives. Keep in mind that Matt has been in contact this whole time, being sure I was kept in the loop. On the morning of July 3, a crew arrives and the crew leader, (maybe his name was Keith?) went over the work. But! The paperwork was missing a key part--a new window well and window well cover, which was part of my bid. I explained that to Keith and he said they will make it work. I left to grab coffee and when I returned, an older guy was there to tell me that they wouldn't be able to do the window well and cover because it's not in the contract and they don't have the time. I think this guy is Rick, the one who has rescheduled me from June 20. "I'm trying to get my guys out early because of the holiday," he says. He also takes me down to my basement, where the work is happening, and says he's sure he'll be back again soon because I need more drainage than just what they're doing today. I wanna pause here and talk about gender. It was clear that Rick didn't totally respect me because I'm a single woman living on my own. He talked down to me terribly. I hate saying this because everyone else was great. And the guilt!! I totally get the desire to have your employees done early before a holiday, but the new well and cover were part of the contract and my work was already been delayed two weeks. While Rick and I were trying to figure this out, Keith walked up at that point and informed Rick that Matt had confirmed I had paid for the well and cover. At this point, I felt incredibly awkward because it seems like there was some kind of miscommunication I wasn't part of. Please know that most of this process was really positive. Keith was wonderful. A born leader. He was kind, competent, and cleaned the basement area so well. The crew had a really good rapport with each other. And I honestly can't say enough good about Matt. Would I choose them again? Maybe. Matt is truly awesome, and everyone other than Rick was absolutely fantastic. I mean, these guys were teaching each other stuff and so supportive. They were really sweet about my cat and just so professional. Oh! And for those interested in cost. I had one window well drain installed, connected to one sump pump. The downpayment was $1400 and the remainder was $3400.
