Well I haven't done this in a long time, 1 star review. I spoke with Mario on the phone who was very professional and pleasant to speak with, he was professional, confident and seemingly forthright. We made an appointment so he could stop by and take a look at what we were looking for. The appointment time came and went, Mario was a no call no show. So I called to make sure I didn't get the times mixed up somehow, benefit of the doubt. I left a message. He calls back and tells me he couldn't remember the time he was supposed to meet so he went home. Seriously? How about call me back and let me know you can't make it. Anyhow, we made another appointment for a few days later so his father could join us since he's the expert on staining concrete. Once again, appointment time comes and goes, no call no show. At this point Ive moved on as I can no longer trust this company, if they can't even make a simple phone to let me know they can't make it, how can I trust them to take care of my concrete project. I can't. Update: Mario finally did call me back, 2 days are he stood me up for the 2nd time, he apologized profusely, much like before, and offered to come over that evening. Lots of work involved....more than we initially thought ....but Adelberto came in with a crew of many on the first days of work. They arrived early every morning, worked all day and only left when everything was cleaned up--backyard and driveway--as well. Adelberto and his sons (three of them) were always professional and very patient with us when we had concerns and questions. His foreman always answered the phone if Adelberto wasn't around and answered our questions. Ace Concrete is a very professional organization and we would certainly use them again. Ace did the concrete work on a large residential project for us. The quality of the work is excellent. Of all the bids we received, theirs was in the middle, but the quality of the work is on the high end, and that's what we wanted. Albert and Mario were easy to work with, professional, and flexible. I received a bid for a backyard project consisting of deck demolition and replacing areas with concrete. I was advised DG would be a good option for the walkway to the back yard although I did not have a good understanding of what it was. I was assured it would be great, The DG looked terrible and there was no way to walk into the back yard without walking on this sandy surface without tracking large amts of dirt into the front door, It looked awful - I used 3 mats to minimize the amt of dirt I was tracking into the front door, They declined to resolve the issue. Communication was very poor at best. Workers did not show up - emails and phone calls were not acknowledged in a timely manner. They worked 2 days and did not show up for a week- they did not give me an accurate timeline of what to expect. Property was destroyed without their acknowledgment - though when I complained about one of the issues - they said they knew and replaced the destroyed item -(only when I mentioned it to them) they did not do the same for the other item that was destroyed. Debris was left in a total mess and when I complained about the end result - help was not offered. When the concrete was still wet and payment was requested - the person that came for payment walked on the still wet concrete and knocked on my door to get their $$. I was extremely disappointed in the customer service, communication and their refusal to work with me to resolve the end product - which looked shoddy. I would not recommend this company - !!!! read more

I asked for a quote and was given an appointment time at 10am. I had to move my other appointments to give way for his estimates. 10am passed, then at 11:20am, I decided to call and see what was goin on. He say he was running late cause he was still doing quotes which happen to be in Vallejo, too. So I said, Okay, I will wait. After an hour, he called and say he can't find my house and he is on the way. It was just a mistake on the gps thats why he could not locate it. So now, that he knows the way, he called and now he is driving goin here to my house. So, okay... And then, all of a sudden, he said that he could not make it cause his job calls him for something. And ended up that he said, just measure it, and send it over the phone. So I did measure it myself, drew it and send it over the phone. He replied after a day and say, Got it. Then he never contact me again or reply for his quote. Now, I was left hanging and waiting. Oh well, if he dont like doing business with me, just tell me. Or maybe the job is too small for him, at least let me know. With this kind of approach, he is driving away customers. Promising to be on time for estimates, he dont realize that time here is very important. Communication is the key! Better take care of customers for your business. I'm guessing maybe he don't need that many. Its kool, theres a lot of other options out there! Other concrete businesses whos willing to go above and beyond! Mario (Project Mgr) came to my home to evaluate my project. I had a 100sf space I wanted to expand my existing driveway into. He quoted me $956 for the TOTAL job. I assumed this meant digging the dirt out, putting in the forms, putting in rebar and pouring the cement and then removing the dirt from my property. A few days later I verbally accepted his bid. He came by to review the job one more time and told me would write up the bid and bring it back for me to sign. He asked me what I wanted to do with the dirt? I told him I wanted it removed. He said he could not do that without additional fees. I told him he gave me a price and said it included everything. He said it did not include digging the dirt and taking it away. I thought it was quite poor business practices to not make this clear in the bidding process. I asked him what was he expecting me to do with the dirt? He had no answer other than to say he would have to charge me extra for it. This was a huge redflag for me and I began to doubt the authenticity and the quality of the company I was about to do business with. He sent the written bid with Jesse (employee who was going to dig out the dirt and remove it) rather than bring it himself so we could discuss it. The written bid was for $1225 (approx. I can't remember). This included the cement prep and install plus dollars for digging the dirt, removing the dirt and dumping it. I mentioned to Jesse that Mario told me $956 full price for everything. I tried calling Mario to discuss the difference in price and he was not available. Jesse talked to him and said he was with a customer and he would call me back. Jesse left without doing any work as I was not going to sign a contract for 33% more in price without a discussion with Mario. I tried all weekend to get ahold of Mario unsuccessfully. I left a message for him and he never called back. I have since contracted with another company, but I did learn, based on my experience that Ace Concrete and Son's first bid is only to get you hooked and then they up the price just before they start the job in hopes you will capitulate in order to get the job done. If you don't accept they just move on with no contact. This is not the way I would conduct business, but I definitely feel I dodged a bullet by NOT using this company. read more

This is my first Yelp review. I felt compelled to finally participate because I take into consideration what I read on Yelp and felt selfish by not giving back. I wish someone else was writing this review because if I had read it, I may have been a bit more keen on my decision to hire Ace. We hired Ace Concrete for a large patio and pool project. This was an expensive project and we were convinced by Ace that they had vast experience in pouring colored concrete and pool coping. We researched, got recommendations and visited previous jobs (of course they only take you to the visit the happy customers). As you can see by the one star rating the project was a complete disappointment. Pretty much everything that the owner told us would be done, and how it would be done, did not happen. When we expressed our concern about the quality of workmanship he promised a repair but he never showed up to fix the problem. When we called to check up on the status of the repair he went on and on about how he had done extra work for free and that he would not fix the problem because we owed him for the extra work. Funny, no mention of this supposed extra work when he came to visit the job and go over the problems so I suspect this is an old trick he uses to get out of repairing problems. The pool coping is crooked, the score lines are not even, and we have large chunks of concrete coming off the edges of the pool and worst of all, the concrete deck is lifting away from the pool beam. I don't blame him for not wanting to come back to this job, I wouldn't want to claim it as my own. This review will come as not surprise to ACE, they are well aware of how we felt about the project and seemed perfectly content with leaving this customer unhappy. By the way, on more than one occasion, Albert said to me "I am not happy unless you are happy." read more
