We got a reactive dog (Nacho) from a shelter a few years ago and had consistently struggled with taking him out because of how he would consistently focus on reacting to other dogs. We'd consulted with many trainers in the Bay Area with stellar reviews and were essentially told that Nacho was a lost cause and he'd never get along with other dogs and couldn't be trusted to be off-leash. It led to us being constantly stressed out whenever we'd take him out on walks and also limit where we could travel with him due to his reactivity. Brent did an incredible job with our dog Ralph (Heeler/Shepherd Mix). Prior to training, Ralph was a nightmare on the leash and lunged at every dog/person he saw. I was embarrassed to take him out and dreaded inviting people over (or avoided it altogether). After keeping up with a year of his training, it has done wonders! This review is long overdue! Brent helped us tame our crazy chocolate lab Cody. We did both the in home training and the three week board and train program. Right away when Brent came into our home I could tell he was able to communicate more effectively with Cody. I was at my wits end with our crazy baby Cody and Brent right away gave us some extremely helpful behavior modifications that made a huge difference in Cody's behavior. There are few words that truly capture the joy, companionship, and love that dogs bring into the world. Our little terrier, Charlie, was adopted by my wife when he was just weeks old. He guided her bad relationships and one good one (she married me), was her best travel companion, and later mine, through adventures around the country. Long story short, Charlie also guided my wife through pregnancy and, as the protector of our family, has faced a difficult time taming down. With a young baby, we were increasingly concerned for both Charlie and the newborns safety. Quite simply, we needed help. Enter Brent from Ace Dog Training. When he picked up Charlie there was no doubt he knew what he was doing. This impression was important as this would be the longest time we had away from our little guy -- we wanted to make sure he would be ok. Throughout Charlie's stay we realized Charlie was more than just ok -- through the videos Brent routinely sent to us, we realized he was the happy, scraggily pup we loved so much -- just slowly becoming less of a teenager and more into well groomed man. Fast forward to when Brent drops Charlie back off. I'm standing on our front porch and I see Brent and Charlie jump out of the car and run across the street, in parallel. I than notice Charlie is not on a leash. Brent than spent the next 2+ hours instructing us on what to do, and more often what not to do, to get back into the leadership role Charlie's looking from my wife and I. Our 6 year old Boxer/Terrier mix, Kali, was being aggressive towards other dogs and even people at times. Lots of barking, growling and we were unable to calm her down once she got too excited or overstimulated. Brent trained our three month old lab for eight weeks and did an excellent job! We were sad to lose her for that long but very glad we chose the full time. Coco is smart so we figured if she "got it" in four weeks she would be engrained in eight and if she was still too you/struggling at four weeks it was best to do the whole eight. As a young puppy with young kids in the house we found it difficult to train her and help get her energy out... by the time she returned she can sit/lay and stay while we walk 20+ yards away and release her. Brent is excellent. We have two Golden doodles one 6 months (Stella) and one 2 years (Myla.) Stella was a handful not following commands, jumping on peopl, pulling when being walked etc.. I am impresed by how quickly he was able to get Stella to follow directions and not be effected by distractions. We are so pleased with Brent & Ace Dog Training! We left Boomer, our 2 yr old rescued boxer mix, with Brent for 2 weeks for his train & board program. When he picked up him up on day 1, Boomer was unpredictable off-leash and very reactive to other dogs. We hoped that Brent could help with those issues, as we had tried everything we knew how to do. Brent is great! I have a VERY loud beagle who is constantly anxious and has trouble regulating himself. Brent took my dog for 2 weeks and the tips that he gave me have been helpful in regulating my dogs behavior. Crate training and leash training are much better than before. Just remember that if your dog has an issue like noise, Brent will not CURE the issue. However, he can give you tips on how to deal with it and the source. Brent is a great trainer! I have a 4 year old pitbull who everyone is terrified of just because of his breed. I also have a hard time trusting anyone with him but after all of the calls with a bunch of trainers the second I talked to Brent, I knew he was a good match for Maddox. Brent SAVED us. Our labradoodle came back from another trainer and was a mess!!! After 6 weeks with that trainer, she was not crate trained, leash trained, had no concept of basic commands (sit, stay, down) and was demand barking/whining (all night). Brent helped us with our 1.5 year old french bulldog that had a few issues. He did NOT come when he was called, was possessive over food, the couch and what he considered "his areas". It got to where I felt he couldn't be trusted around my son. Our main reason for reaching out to Brent was because we have 2 cats and our black lab (Jaxon) wasn't doing well them.
