This contractor is charging too much with home warranty insurance. I tried using my home shield account with the deductable to fix 1 broken garage door spring. Mike was initially charging me $499 to install 2 springs and so called adjustment fee. This is in addition to paying my home shield deductable. He tried to haggle down to $399. I didnt accept his offer because I can easily get it fixed with 2 springs for $325 total with Eudy doors ($275 for 1 spring). I ended up getting it done by Eudy doors with excellent service and request buy out from Home shield. read more

Our warranty company (AHS) sent out Ace to fix our garage door. Our appointment was scheduled for between 1-5pm, and I got a text letting me know when they were on their way. Our technician, Nathan, arrived at 1:10. He was quickly able to diagnose the problem. The gear on the back of the unit that ran the chain was stripped/bad. The gear was attached to the rail/chain track that ran from the top of the motor unit all the way to the wall. It's all one piece, and the part had to be ordered. Before Nathan had left the house, I had a text from AHS/Ace giving us the date/time for our repair (one week). Nathan recommended us unhooking our garage door and rolling it up and down manually until the repair appointment to avoid any further possible damage to the motor. Today, I got a text at 12:10 (!) saying Nathan was back on his way for our 1-5pm appointment! (I was already home so it wasn't an issue) Nathan got the new part installed and our garage door running perfectly within an hour. Professional, friendly, and punctual. A service rep named Mike was sent out by our home warranty (Fidelity) to inspect our garage door, which has been problematic this past week. The door does not open/close and gets stuck midway, I had to manually pull it down to close. When Mike came out he took a look at the garage door said our whole system needs to be replaced and offered to sell us a new door. He didn't even use the remote or even attempt to touch the system before making his assessment. He tried to upsale a $5,500 garage system and even showed pictures. Come to find out, our insurance rep said that his report states that our garage door was functioning fine. He lied to us and on his report, absolute trash. read more

DO NOT USE. Had an emergency door stuck open at 10:30pm. Rude representive on phone said " if he call's you are you sure you will answer?". what the hell. No call he just showed up. Gave me a Quote after looking at the door. Advised him we would be paying by check. Started performing repair as per his quote. While working on door he said the hinges were bad and the rollers were to short. Told him not to replace hinges, questioned him about the rollers again and he said short rollers would cause door to bind. We authorized rollers - against better judgement. Then he proceeded to tell be we needed a new spring. Told him they were just done two months prior. Said new spring was wrong type. Removed spring and then said rod for spring was rusty (?) and needed to be replaced. (surface rust). Then he said one of the metal roller tracks needed to be replaced ($395) for a short piece of track. This all after he had already did the initinal evaluation. Ended up being over 2x times the original quote. Went to pay with the check (he had already been advised that was our payment type) and he said he does not take checks. (wtf) the tells us a 8% credit card fee would be charged. Told him it was over our credit card allowance. (now 11:30 pm). He advised me to just go to bank and get cash (again wtf). Was telling him that he was way other his original quote and did work we did not authorize. He stated " works is already done, I am not leaving until you pay me". Starting getting aggresive with attitude. Finally said he would take the check, but make to cash, not company name. He got upset when we questioned this, put garage door company in the detail for check. Told me to make another one without anything with company name on it. I said NO. My garage door tension spring suddenly snapped and I couldn't get my vehicle out of the garage. I immediately filed a claim with my home warranty and received service confirmation immediately. It was after hours but I called the repair company listed on my email confirmation and someone picked up. I was so relieved that eventhough they have not received the work order, they booked me for 36 hours out. Mike was the technician that came out. He was very respectful of our property. He wore a mask, assess the damages, explained the work that needs to be done and clear pricing explanation of what's not covered with my warranty request. Garage door was fixed in under 30 minutes and working better than before with the adjustments Mike provided. we had Nathan sent to us through 1st American to fix a snapped spring.. he replaced the spring but still couldn't fix it and then said that we were in need of more parts... parts that were not covered on our insurance.. he recommended a new torsion bar with brackets total out of pocket with labor $590... like many families we don't have 590 dollars spare so we shopped around.. big joes garage door sent a tech who spent 30 mins tinkering with our door and fixed it with very little fuss.. to a charge of $115.. the tech informed us that our door was NOT in need of any new parts it just needed to be fixed properly .. Company was sent out by my homeowners insurance. Tech said our motor was bad. While I'm well aware of the state of our door we just wanted a temporary fix prior to replacing the entire unit when we have money. While there he tried to sell us an entire garage door, after I've told him that it's not something we can afford. He went on to say that it's not something that anyone can afford and basically imply why buy a house if you can't afford the repairs. Home insurance called to say issue was a bad door and a bad motor but it is not covered because of what was said in the report. If you can, avoid this company. There are multiple yelp reviews about people having the same issue. Again, avoid if possible. read more

Bottom Line: I do not recommend this company. 1. We initially contacted our home warranty company in February 2021 as our garage door opener was not functioning properly following a storm that cut power for a day or two. The Ace Garage Doors technician fixed the door opener but recommended we replace our current door as it was beyond repair. The door was in rough shape so I asked for the price of replacing it. The technician quoted a price of $1,200 for a "heavy duty" door. He then demanded a 50% deposit to begin the work. I agreed to and paid a 10% deposit and we scheduled the door replacement. 2. Door was replaced in late February 2021. 3. On 4 March 2021, I noticed the garage door opener had not been reinstalled properly and was cutting a rather significant groove into my ceiling. I arranged for a technician to adjust to opener and he did a few days later (thought there was no offer to repair the damage to my ceiling). I also noticed some significant gaps between the door panels of the door that clearly was not "heavy duty." The technician (Luis) confirmed it was a standard door and that it likely had been damaged. He confirmed the cost of a heavy duty door was $1,650 (standard door is $1,200) and advised me to call the office to arrange for a technician to take a look at it (not exactly sure why he couldn't). 4. On 11 March 2021, I sent the following email to Ace Garage Doors with pictures of the gaps between the door panels: "Good Afternoon: I would like Ace Garage Doors to replace the damaged garage door they installed on my property on 4 March 2021. Spoke with Alice on 11 March 2021. Attached pictures are from the inside. The panels do not close completely; the door is damaged. This was further confirmed by a technician named Luis on 8 March 2021. He was at my home to repair an incorrectly-installed garage door opener (from the 4 March 2021 garage door install) that left significant damage to my ceiling. Please contact me with any questions." 5. I've never received a response to this email and called a few days later to follow up. Ace Garage Doors arranged for a technician to come to our house on 25 March 2021. The technician showed up, took a look at the door, said he needed a different tool, that someone would get back to us "this week," and left. I've had neither a call nor a return visit since then. 6. Spoke with Leah on 30 March 2021. She agreed to pass this to her supervisor, Nancy, who would call me this evening or tomorrow. As of 31 March 2021 at 0900 EDT, I have not yet received a return phone call. I do not recommend using this company. read more

Though it was not an emergency, Ace did a good job of responding to my garage door issue in a timely manner. I had a home warranty and the repair technician informed me that the repair issue was not covered by my insurance warranty. My bad. He was a nice guy and explained to me he could repair the door for $425. He said there were no replacement parts involved and estimated the work would take about an hour. So on top of the $100 deductible, Ace wanted to charge me $425 for an hour of labor. I told the technician that the price was too steep and that I would find another repair company. He was congenial and left. I verified the price of $425 through a phone call with an Ace supervisor. This morning a reputable garage door repairman from my community came out and fixed the door for $110. It took less than an hour. The service from Ace was good, it was just that I thought their price of $425 was outrageous - and I was correct. My advice: know the details of your insurance coverage and attempt to verify a price before Ace responds. read more

Have had Ace's come out a couple times over the years for help with our Garage. The first time was 3-4 years ago, the motor went out and they came by swiftly and repaired the bearing and motor in no time. The second time, the springs on the door snapped and needed to be replaced. They came out the next business day and had the replacements installed in less than an hour. Very responsive however, if the response isn't a solution to the peoblem, it doesn't matter. Dec 2020 moved into our house and filed claim with AHS because our garage door wouldn't close. Mike responded to the claim and told us that the tracks were dirty, a couple of the wheels were broken and we needed new sensors that was why the door wouldn't close. None of which was covered by AHS. I asked about replacing the weather stripping on the garage door as well (it'scracked and broken off in some spots). Mike said it couldn't be done because the door has a dent. Fine, $500 and 2 weeks later the door stops closing. We live with it until Sept 2021. Another claim filed and Mike comes again. This time he says, "your door won't close because the cracks right here make it buckle and I told you that the last time I was here. You need a new door. I can give you a deal." He shows me a quote for $3100 for a new door!!!! Mike absolutely did not tell us that the door itself was the problem. If that had been the case in Dec why say the problem was due to lack of maintenance? Why not show us a quote for a new door back in Dec? At no point was Mike open to the idea of the problem being the opener itself (it's original from when the house was built IN THE 90's!!!) AHS helped me arrange to get a 2nd opinion. Sure enough everythibg Mike said was wrong. 1) the opener itself was the problem, not the door. 2) the weather stripping CAN be replaced for aboit $100 regardless of the small dent on the door 3) the tiny cracks in the door are NOT why the door won't close and they in no way cause the door to buckle. ACE: Honesty goes a long way. Be helpful without attempting to up-sell and you'll earn referrals and repeat business that way. Its 2021...the opener was 30 years old (or so)....DO BETTER!!!! read more

This company is a total wrip off . They replace the springs and they pushed a sale yes an extra 200 for rollers on top of that The te h guy left the Garage door with a Big Crack sound . Do not use this company. My warranty company sent them to my house to repair a garage door opener. The Company technician stated it couldn't be repaired (now I wonder about that). He then proceeded to sell me a "great replacement" and would give it to me for half the price. Not only did he overcharge me for the opener, he also overcharged me for an extra remote; stating that he couldn't program the remotes that I currently owned, nor could he program my keyless pad I had outside of my garage door. He stated that it wasn't compatible with the new opener. I decided to contact the manufacturer to inquire about programming the keyless pad. Found out I could in fact program it and my other remotes which I was able to do with their help. This is how I found out that I was over charged. I contacted Sarah at the Company and she confirmed that I was overcharged. I requested an invoice with the correct amount, and she did send one to me. She said she wanted to make this right and would credit my account. She called me several times within a 24 hour period. Probably because I reported them to the Better Business Bureau (BBB). This was on 7/17 and 7/18/2018. As of 8/8/2018, I have not received the credit that she promised; Nor is she answering my calls for a status. Be careful as this company has several phone numbers. The number she contacted me from, displays on my phone as a Florida phone number. When I contacted them, I called two other phone numbers. Their business is registered on the BBB out of Santa Clara, although they advertise locally. I was holding off writing a review, because I believed she would honor her word and credit my account. Obviously they don't care, and plan to keep the $$, otherwise she would have responded to me when I inquired about the status of the credit. I also am disputing this with my credit card company. Hopefully, they will be able to get my money back. If necessay, I will file in small claims court, which I left Sarah a message to notify them of it. Beware! Beware! They took advantage of an older woman with no knowledge of how much garage door openers cost. The company techician said the one he sold me is worth $1500 dollars. I needed a repair for my garage door that was making a "popping" sound. The technician who came out was friendly and professional. However, they quoted me $299.00 for a simple metal piece bar install across the garage door to prevent it from popping. I researched other companies on Yelp and learned that avg. repair costs for this kind of repair was $125.00-150.00. Ace was charging way too much. I gave them a 3 star because the tech. was kind and professional; and he took the time to explain my options. If ACE offered fair pricing, this could have easily been a 5 star review. read more

BUYER BEWARE. I had Mike/Aces come over to fix my garage door as part of my home warranty. He arrived on time and promptly diagnosed the issue as a bad logic board. The technician quickly replaced it. However he let me know that he thought I should get a brand new garage door but in the meantime, he recommended that I get new rollers which he said would be $350. I thought that this seemed rather high but he was upset/defensive when I asked about the price. He again told me that he thought it was a safety hazard if I did not get it fixed. The job took less than a half an hour for everything. After he left, I went online and discovered that I was grossly overcharged. The highest quote that I received out of six different places was $150, including the service call. The Aces tech possibly felt that, since i am a woman, he could completely inflate the price. I then went on Yelp to let Aces know that I was very unhappy and wanted to have this resolved & some $ refunded. Moe/Aces answered me via Yelp and asked me to email a copy of the bill, which I promptly did. I followed up 3x over the next 2 weeks and never heard anything back. I feel like I was taken advantage of and I definitely will be much more cautious in the future. I do not recommend this company. read more

I would give them zero stars if it was possible. From their website: "At Ace Garage Door Services, we don't believe in wasting the customer's precious time or money." Don't believe it, and don't let these guys in the door. Ace was sent out by Fidelity National Home Warranty -- a great company, by the way -- after my garage door opener had the big one. I explained the problem to Ace in detail in a text, an e-mail and a telephone call in the hope that they could come out prepared to fix the problem. The person I spoke to on the phone assured me that the tech would have the necessary parts to fix it or, if it was not fixable, to replace it. I was given the proverbial 4-hour appointment. Needless to say, they did not show up during the four-hour window. I called and they sent out a guy roughly 30 minutes later. He became offended when I asked why no one had bothered to call me to tell me that Ace wasn't going to make it. He told me that he had a lot of calls, pointed to the Ace logo on his shirt and told me to take it up with Ace. Then he climbed up on a ladder and started to take the thing apart. He stopped when I asked him if he knew what was happening and if he wanted to know what was happening. Demonstrating the problem was as simple as pushing the button to open the door so that he could hear the error code beeps. I then showed him what the manual indicates the beeps meant. Basically the same information I had provided in my previous text, voicemail and live call. After hearing the beeps, the tech folded up his ladder and left, telling me that they would order the part (the part I told them needed to be replaced) and be in contact. The door still will not open or close. I called FNHW and demanded that they send a different company. Ace was unprepared, unprofessional and rude. They wasted my entire morning and did not even have the courtesy to call to let me know that they weren't coming, much less coming on time. The tech who ultimately showed up didn't apologize for wasting my time, but instead complained that he was busy and told me to take it up with Ace. Give your business to a company that cares about the customer. read more

This company came out (our homeowners insurance AHS sent them out). Our garage door was not closing, it would close and then once at the bottom it opened back up. He told me that is was gear that was broken, but tried to up sell me on a new motor and said I would be better with new garage door and motor. I told him I would talk to my husband. He told me that the gear was covered by my insurance, but it would be a bandaid and I would keep replacing it and having them come out (even though the gear is 15 years old and has been fine). He said it would be $800 for a new motor and $3,000 for the door and motor. We decided to go with the cheap fix. After a week of radio silence, the company told us they would be out the next week (2 weeks for a gear!! Because they had to order a part that is standard and every garage company carries). Fast forward to the day of and we are given a window. That window comes and goes. We call the company directly and the girl tells us they are running behind but still coming. Fast forward to later we get an email from our insurance that the case is closed and the garage company deemed it as secondary damage and they wouldn't replace it. This company is a huge scam. They are only wanting to up sale customers. We are out the deductible and had to pay another company (which said that Ace is notorious for up selling their customers as part of their job!!!).
