Went in today to find some metric screws for a kitchen project. Walked in and was immediately greeted with a "welcome and how can I help you find anything. We were directed to the aisle and on the way there we ran into another employee. We told him we were just needed to find the proper screws. He set down what he was doing and assisted us in finding the correct screws. We knew just based on what we brought in what we were doing and also suggested washers to tighten up any loose fits! Wow! Sure came in handy with all the tips. Needless to say we only needed to visit once since we listened to his tips. So nice to be helped by employees who are busy doing "other" things in the store. All the employees are knowledgeable and helpful. I am amazed every time I walk in the store what they carry. Great prices too. Next on my list is a plunger made to look like the poop emoji. May get it for a gift too! Oh and the pretzels they sell in this store are amazing!!! read more

The salespeople in this store are so helpful! I went in today to ask for advice on what kind of glue to buy to put together a knob that had broken off my toaster oven. I was told that it would require an epoxy and directed to the proper aisle. Another salesperson asked if I wanted help and I told him my problem and showed him the broken knob. I also explained that it seemed difficult to use the epoxy which required mixing. I am almost 81 years old and look for simplicity! He looked for another knob and when he couldn't find one, he took the broken one to the back and glued it together with epoxy, wrapped it in a rubber band to hold it together and gave it to me at no charge. I wish Ace hadn't been so wishy-washy in the first place by buckling to the Hogg crybaby agenda. That was a stupid move. But, I am pleased to see they have rescinded their position, and I will again shop Ace. I spent two trips to Lowes (farther away than Ace) in the past couple of weeks that would have been sales for Ace, but for their waffling decision. Hopefully, they've learned from this and can stand their ground in the future. read more

I had the best experience at this Ace. Went in for new screws for my license plate and Wayne H found them and screwed them in for me. The cashier, Melanie, was just as friendly. You can tell these individuals were enjoying their job and made my day that much better. read more

I'm a grandma, and that affects this review. I live about 40 minutes away from this Ace, but am often in the area to babysit grandkids. I find the staff very helpful and understanding when I've gone there with my grandkids. About a month ago, I had all 3- ages 7, 5, 4. I had prepped them on proper behavior when in the store, and when we walked in, there was a big M&M display that wowed them. They were excitedly noisy, and when an older male employee walked over to them, I thought he was going to admonish them; instead, he engaged them in a conversation about favorite kinds of M&Ms. Nice. Then, the female cashier invited them to the counter and let them choose some lollipops from a bag she pulled from behind the counter. Then today I went there with just the 5 year old grandson who was wearing a plastic fireman's helmet. A young male employee came up to us right away, asked if I needed help, and took me right to the curtain rods. An older male employee stopped and said, "Hey, we need to salute the fire chief." They both saluted my grandson who returned the salute. Doubly nice. I asked my son if he shops there and he said that if he needs something quick and knows exactly what he needs, Ace is the place. I really appreciate the helpful attitude I've encountered. Another note: I frequently buy online, mainly from Amazon. When I was writing this review, it occurred to me to look at Amazon for the tension curtain rods that I bought at Ace today. I do not know if they are the same brand, but Ace's price was about $2 less than Amazon. read more

Rented chairs and bought a table (in case I needed it) for a holiday event in late November. Did not use the table and it was in its original packaging. When I went to return the chairs and table, I got grief from the store manager. She accused me of using the table and trying to return it. I had to argue and yell back to get my point across that the product was not removed from the packaging. This bullish type of customer service is not good for the franchise, and the owner needs to know how they are treating their customers. A growing business starts with people and the culture of the company. Make the necessary change or your business will be flat. And I will not set foot in there again. read more

I normally try to go to Ace over Lowe's or Home Depot, it's closer and local which is good and although their selection is smaller and normally costs more I'm ok with that because the service normally makes up for it. Well...I get there at 5:01 pm today just needing to run in and out but didn't realize they close at 5:00 pm on Sundays. Apparently this is the absolute cut off for entering the store because even though they were still dragging the pallets in from outside and checking out customers inside I was greeted at the door by an older gentleman with both hands up blocking me from going inside because they closed at 5:00 pm. He didn't even ask what I was there for or how long I might need to get it because it clearly didn't matter. Seems pretty comical that I was willing to pay more to shop in their store but I guess it had better be during posted hours. The smaller local type stores often complain about the big box stores taking away their business but I am willing to bet that had I showed up at Lowe's or Home Depot a minute after their posted closing time they wouldn't have turned me away. Pretty disappointed that this is how a local store chooses to operate! read more

Whenever possible, I try to buy at smaller owned stores, to help support local business community. I have shopped at this Ace hardware near 48th street and Elliot for close to 3 years. Generally the employees are not very knowledgeable but many times have at least tried to help, that it makes up for the sort comings. However, that helpfulness is hit and miss. The last time I was in there, there were some older/elder employees that were just really cliquish and rude and unhelpful. This store does have a "following" of locals that go there and swear by it,,, but unless your stuck,, your better off going to home depot or lowes. 9 times out of 10 lowes or home depot pricing and products are better anyway. Unless you are one of this ace hardware's clique customers,, its just not worth the aggravation to shop there. read more
