I like that they are so knowledgeable about the location of each item I needed, even down to providing directions to the exact spot (i.e., halfway down the aisle or located on the left side of the aisle). I prefer it to the BiG Chain hardware stores because there are always friendly folks at Ace to help you find what you need, On this occasion, I needed some extension plugs for my outlets and the lady at Orlando Ace was terrific! I did not spend much time in this store but they are a large Ace and conveniently located on Grant and Orange next to the SODO Target shopping center. They have it all! This Ace Hardware is not as close to me as a few other locations, but I like to stop in here on occasion. When I worked with the city and needed hardware to repair something, I would come in here since it was close to work. And they always had what I needed in stock. On a recent visit, I was able to come in and find what I was looking for. This location is always well stocked. Service is always friendly and knowledgeable. The cashiers are friendly and helpful, but expect a wait at the register. Not a fault of the employees, however. It is just that this location is usually busy. Every time I visit here, I see many contractors coming in. Whether it be plumbing, electrical, carpentry, landscaping, painting, or other trades, I see several company trucks/vans pulling in to the parking lot. Which is a good sign. If they are coming in, you know this Ace Hardware has a great reputation for service and product availability. And with this ACE being close to downtown and the surrounding neighborhood, it gets busy! I have never had a problem with parking. But the parking lot can be tight in spots. So be careful upon entering. And this ACE Hardware even has bait fish available for fishing. With all of the nearby lakes, it makes this stop convenient for the local fishing enthusiasts. I, however, do not fish. Either the fish eat really well, or I catch the "stickfish" that tangles up my line. But if I am in the neighborhood and need something for the apartment, I will gladly visit here. read more

Having decided to find a new "go to" Ace, I found this one. It is small, but has everything I need. Projects are a weekly thing in our home. This weekend it happened to be shelves, a wheelbarrow for the never ending yard work, a couple of filters for the A/C and a couple of other minor things. At the checkout desk I kept on going up and asking Charmaine where things were and she always knew aisle and actual side (left or right) - I was actually quite impressed. When we would pass by with items in our arms, she told us to leave them with her, which was quite helpful because I always tend to pick up more than I actually came for at ACE. When we went to check out she offered us the frequent buyer card and after we registered with our phone number she asked "How long ago did you move from Miami?" Girl! How observant! Though ace may have a little bit of everything and be super convenient to where I live .... The girls at the counter are so darn rude. It's like I'm inconveniencing them by asking a question, or checking out, or requiring any assistance at all. Not sure what, if any, customer training these girls have had, but they should definitely go back to school. They are completely unfriendly. I think the one girls name is Bailey. I was shocked during hurricane prep that that we're talking rudely about customers before the customers had even left the parking lot while they were waiting on the woman in front of me. If she were my employer I would fire her. I will drive across town from now on to go to Home Depot or anywhere but here. UPDATE: I received a call from a nice lady who apologized profusely. Thanks that was nice. Bought some straps from Ace to tie down my 10x10 tent. Within a few months they all broke, just tore right we're the hook links in. I took them back to ace to at least get some sort of store credit. He said he could not find th product was even sold at his store though he knew exactly where to look to find them within the store. Unfortunately they were all sold out so we couldn't find the SKU number. Normally I love this Ace Hardware. Unfortunately, today I had a bad experience with them. I called ahead to see if they had a specific Christmas tree light bulb replacement, based on what I had seen on their website. The woman who answered the phone assured me they had the 25 pack in stock after I read to her the specifications of the product on the site. When I arrived, no one could find the product. The manager said that the woman who answered the phone checked the inventory online, but was not able to check the actual inventory. He said the store was very busy and offered a mild apology. I made a special trip to this location after calling other stores to check for availability. During these days of covid I do not like to make unnecessary in-person shopping trips and felt that the manager did not appropriately address the lack of customer service I experienced. read more

It is true what they say that "Ace is the place with the helpful hardware folks". I went into Ace looking for some small plastic ties to use for a craft project. As I walked in, I was welcomed by an employee and asked if I needed help. I told her that I was looking for certain items and she took me right to the aisle where they were. There was only one package left. I really wanted to buy two or three packages. She immediately called the manager to find out when they were going to be get another shipment. She told me to come back on that certain day next week so I could pick up my other purchased. Sick of "AX"ing for help? (Okay, that one is a stretch.) Well, you know the "DRILL"... Come to your local hardware shop! In this case, it's ACE! Yes, ACE is a chain. But it has a small town hardware store feel to it, and that is remarkable. They carry a full line of useful household tools and light improvement merchandise (paint, gardening stuff, electrical, plumbing, etc.) They do not carry toilets, fridges, crazy lumber or flat screen TV's. Ah well. I think Best Buy carries all them things. Everything is contained within a reasonable amount of floor space, so you don't have to walk forever trying to find a lightbulb (ahem... Lowe's/Home Depot). Yes, walking is good, but sometimes you don't want to get jerked around. You just want to buy your item and "haul ass to Lollapalooza." That said, at ACE you'll actually stumble upon many cool and useful things... Each aisle contains a lot of variety so you can feast your eyes on the goods without traipsing across 64000 square feet of mega warehouse space. And... if you need 1 bolt, you can buy 1 bolt! A single screw, a single anything practically... I love that! Just pick it out of the bin, and go pay your 7 cents or whatever. Customer service is where this place really shines. Within 1 minute or 2 someone will ask you if you need help. And they're not annoying or cocky (like they are at Miller's Hardware in Winter Park). Okay, I think I "NAILED" it. :) read more

Once again had a great experience at this Ace Hardware. This is one of the better Ace's. They have hardware, plumbing, electrical, paint, as well as garden supplies and a small selection of herbs and annuals. They also have mulch and gardening soil in the parking lot. This Ace is great because somehow someone always goes out of their way to find me and help me get what I need. The employees are always walking up and down the aisles and actively ask how they can help you. Also, returns are super easy. I recently bought a supply line for a toilet and it ended up being the wrong size. Not even thinking about it I strolled in, no receipt and asked to exchange it. No problem! Finally, they always send someone out to load mulch or garden soil into my car and they come out right away. This Ace is super convenient and I always find what I need easily there. I'm sure with all the home improvement I've been working on I'll be back often. read more

5 stars for a really convenient location with very friendly employees. This Ace Hardware is located right by the north end of the Target SODO plaza. The parking lot is a bit tight and hard to enter, but that's to be expected in this area. However, there are plenty of spaces. This location is also (friendly) dog friendly! The staff always seems to get a kick out of it and have dog treats behind the counter. Also, the employees are great in general. They have been consistently helpful and friendly. This Ace Hardware has a solid collection of items. It's definitely not as large as a Lowe's or Home Depot, but it has plenty of stuff. They also have a key-making station and a large paint section. A solid hardware store in a great downtown location. Anyone who lives in or near downtown Orlando knows that hardware stores are few and far between. Fortunately, this Ace Hardware fills that need. Located right off the SODO plaza, this standalone Ace is a decent sized store that provides great service. When you go to this Ace, the first thing you need to know is that they have their own parking lot in the back. Be careful though because the entrance is narrow and can be easily missed. Once you park, you head inside (including bringing your dog if you want) and see friendly cashiers at the front counter. I will tell you that the cashiers are mostly young ladies that don't have a ton of hardware knowledge (which they make up for with friendliness and immediately calling someone to help you with any questions), so you'll need to head inside to find employees to help. All of the employees I have found have been very knowledgeable and helpful. In fact, when I came in to look for an air filter and discovered my weird size was sold out, one gentleman gave me his card and told me to call him the next day and he would let me know if one was on the truck. Now that is customer service. In terms of the inventory itself, this Ace has a good amount of items. While not nearly as big as your typical Home Depot, they do pack a good deal into their store, and they have a storage area connected to the store where they can go check to see if they have your item. This location also makes keys, and it is the one place where I've made a large set of keys and every key worked! Overall, this Ace is a solid hardware store. While it doesn't have the inventory of the bigger stores, it's customer service and location near downtown make it a solid choice for anyone in the downtown area. read more

This is why Ace Hardware holds its own against the large chains such as Home Depot and Lowe's: unparalleled customer service. I walk in and and look around the front for key rings. My experience at the big box stores is that the employees will wait for you to approach them even if they see you are obviously not finding what you're looking for. Young lady here sees me looking but not finding and asks what I'm looking for. She gives me exact directions to where the item is with a great description of the bin they're in. Check out was courteous, too. She asked me if I had some sort of rewards with them and I did not. She did not get pushy like some retailers do. Unfortunately, I am not aware of an Ace close to me so I did not sign up for the rewards. I wish more retailers were like Ace. read more

When your choices are Ace, Home Depot, and Lowes, Ace is indeed the place. Why? Let's start with service. The service couldn't be any better if David Pittman himself ran the place. When you enter through the front door, a greeter with a head set meets you. He welcomes you, and asks 'what are you looking for today?' He tells you what aisle it is on, and uses the head set to call an associate to meet you there to help. Let me repeat that - a sales associate meets you to help. You don't even need a pack of dogs to trail and tree a clerk like some big box stores I could name. Pro tip: take the old what-ever-it-is that broke with you. If the clerk can see it, he can find you one, and explain how to put it back together. Then there is the inventory. They have one of everything, same as the big stores. Plus, they have the neatest damn shi, uh, stuff you never knew you needed until you see it at the check out counter. Third, the prices are the same as the big boxes, or often less if you go with the Ace brands. Lastly, each Ace is a franchise, so this is a local business with the benefit of volume buying prices. Remember, even David Pittman won't refill your propane tank for $20 while you wait. read more

I love having a local hardware store close to the house. If I need something I can't find at Target or Walmart that are close by then I come here. The usually have what I need. Their staff is always friendly and helpful. They have everything from paint to gardening supplies and everything in between! They are open 7 days a week which is great and their hours are 6 am...wow that's early to 7:30 most days...saturday 7 pm and sunday 6 pm. It's nice to see a hardware store in our neighborhood that hasn't been swallowed up by the big chains! read more

I really like this store. There is an illusion that the bigger, non-franchise chain stores have a larger selection, and in my experience, this is not true. This place not only has an excellent selection, but they have things the "big" stores look at you funny if you ask for. They are way more qualified and helpful than, well, you know who I mean. I also think their prices are better. I think that whole small selection business is based on the illusion that the big chains propagate by SHOWING more inventory. Personally, I don't need to see all the pallets hovering over my head and I don't care to share the aisle with a forklift. I know they have plenty in the warehouse, and I don't need to see it all. Also, they have a much larger selection of American made items than the warehouse stores do. Granted, they have their fair share of Chinese crap, but that can hardly be avoided these days. The main thing is keeping quality smaller businesses in our neighborhood. I've never heard "that's not my department" in this store. Everybody seems to be able to help you find whatever you want, and if they don't have it, they'll tell you who does. It's a smallish store, but still considerably larger that the one across from Bumby plaza. The staff is helpful and readily available. They have most of the items one needs for basic home repair, interior and exterior painting, yard work, gardening, outdoor entertaining, pet care, pest control and the like. I wish they had longer hours and a larger garden center, but I still like shopping there far better than I do at Lowes and Home Despot (yes, the spelling is intentional)! read more

I am very disappointed with the customer service at the front desk lately. Ace used to be a great place to shop for my family over the years for various items.The customer service was outstanding. However, the front desk service has been going downhill for a while and my last visit in I was so disappointed that I promised myself I will not give them anymore of my business. They are extremely rude, unfriendly, unhelpful. They would rather talk to each other than acknowledge the customer, answer a question or move from their spot to help anyone with anything. They give off the vibe that the customers are annoying and interrupting their resting on the counter and talking to each other. When I mentioned this to my husband who goes in separately for business items, he agreed that he had noticed the same decline in service recently. I did email the manager about this and didn't get a response. I will be happy to take my business elsewhere! read more
