Hear me out....The first time I had the halal guys was at their OG location in NYC. I also did not know how spicy their hot sauce was. To my unfortunate surprise, I had squeezed a good amount of hot sauce all over my platter and wasn't able to eat around it. All I remember was the first few bites were delicious until I couldn't taste anything but hot sauce anymore. That was completely my fault. Fast forward they opened a location closer to home. I am so glad I tried it again because man... it is just so dang good, homey, comforting, and delicious! The service and staff at this location is impeccable. They are literally the cleanest people I ever seen working for a chain. I mean who cleans the stove vent in the middle of service? They do. (And yes, they protected and covered the food properly.) I've never seen one rice kernel out of place and have yet to see anything not shiny let alone sticky. Staff is quick, attentive, work well together, and also upsell you nonchalantly. Didn't even know there was a location at South Bay but very welcome as parking is MUCH easier than downtown. Always liked halal guys ever since our many trips to NYC 53rd and 6th days. Usually one plate is enough for me to eat 2 meals which is great! Extra white sauce, couple dribbles of hot sauce mix and enjoy. Usually get the tomatoes, onions, green peppers and jalapeños. I personally would probably stick to the beef only for my taste. Nice flavoring easy protein. The chicken at times could be a bit dry or bland. Decided to try the bbq spicy chicken this time but got mostly sweet and sour taste no kick. You can choose to have salad mixed with the combo and it comes with naan pieces i think haha All in all, great for a quick pop in, service was stellar, staff was super nice and promptly got what you wanted/needed. We got our order, chicken with rice, to go. You order at the counter and go down the line and add the toppings. Our base for the bowl was rice and chicken. As "sides", we got the lettuce, chopped onion, green peppers, and tomatoes. You also get four tiny pieces of pita. We asked for ample of white sauce and some tahini. Overall, it was a very tasty bowl and held up well for a couple of hours until dinner time. The portions were enough to be divided for two people, if you're not super hungry! read more

Relocated back to Boston from NYC. I was stoked to see Halal guys is now in Boston (it's been a minute.) Sadly, the food was over priced, the chicken was dry and everything was underwhelming. Extras were insanely priced. Overall disappointing. I did appreciate the bottles of extra sauce in a fridge available for patrons. An extra star for the sauce fridge. read more

Stopped by late after a Red Sox game. Order a regular sized platter with chicken and beef gyro. Guy absolutely loaded my plate. Could have probably fed 2 people comfortably. Got everything on it with just a little of the hot sauce. Glad I only got a little because it is definitely hot. Got a side of hot sauce and added just a little more than what I requested and I was sweating like a hostage finishing my meal. Place was clean and worker was friendly and inviting. I first ordered take out and most recently went in for pick up. My observations is that this location isn't very high traffic, so the meat isn't fresh off the roaster like if you get it in NYC. For example, I went in at 7:30pm and the roasters were empty and clean, just pre-cooked meat in the trays waiting to be served. It's still good, but not nearly as hot and fresh as NYC. However, they seem to have more toppings than at the NYC food carts, which I admittedly haven't been to in a few years. The hubs and I met our son for lunch today in South Bay and really loved this place. The restaurant is a cute little self service place with very friendly staff. We got there early and the staff were so friendly and welcoming while we waited. My husband and I got the falafel platter and it was so good! Think of this place like a cafeteria restaurant. You order your food and make as many customizations as you want. Some items cost extra, some are included. The falafel was hot and crisp. The platter came with four falafel-not that you can tell by the picture! We couldn't wait to eat but I wasn't leaving without taking a picture. My son's beef gyro was stuffed with beef gyro meat. He got lettuce tomatoes and jalapeños and he said it was delicious. I highly recommend the white sauce! It's like a thin version of tsasiki without chunks of cucumber, but was good on everything. They even keep a bottle in a refrigerator in the seating area so you can add more if you like! If you head to South Bay and want a great fast casual head here-you won't be disappointed!!! read more

First time trying the halal guys and I got to say it doesn't live up to the hype. Fries were good, thin and crisp crinkle cuts. The pita was soft and just right. Went around 5pm on a weekend and the place was not too busy. Service was quick and workers were friendly. Go to order is the beef gyro and chicken platter with onions and sauces on the side(the hot/red sauce is a lil on the spicier side so start with a little bit and add more as needed) . This place is better than I expected. I ordered a sandwich and the wrap can only cover half of the food, which is good. I ordered the chicken and beef combo and both taste good.
