    Spicy Chicken Bowl

Amazing food! I ordered lunch from here via Relish. For that reason, I can't comment on the service or ambiance or the restaurant. But let me tell you about my burrito bowl...incredible! Packed with flavor and quality ingredients. I'd definitely order from here again!

Nacho were good, loaded and enough for two people to share. We got the steak and shrimp nachos was a passion fruit drink. The drink was a little costly for my liking; but it was good. Service was good, food was hot and fresh. A real vibe centrally located in Harvard Square.

The food was delivered quickly. We ate via Uber Eats and were unfortunately not pleased. The bowl was not well constructed, it was messy, we asked for no lettuce, there were so few beans it was so disappointing , the pico was barely present, there were zero fajita veggies present, and the crema was also not there. Not too sure of the interior of the restaurant because as I said we used Uber Eats.

All the toppings you can choose from!

This ambience is so nice and warm and the food is absolutely delicious. I got the shrimp tacos and they were so good and tasty and very filling. I'll definitely be back.

1st Steak California Bowl that lacks french fries which are also just thrown on top of the meat and vegetables as a garnish!

Good food for a late night run. Service was fast and me and my boy really killed the burrito bowls. Good vegan options.

We walked into a space that fills up quickly during peak hours, with a cozy, welcoming layout that feels more like a neighborhood cafe than a specialty health shop. The fact that everything on the menu is gluten free stops registering quickly because the quality of the baking stands on its own without needing the qualifier. The ube brownie is a popular item for good reason. It is soft and rich in a way that holds up against any brownie regardless of how it is made, and the ube flavor adds a layer of depth that makes it more interesting than a standard chocolate version. The cinnamon roll is another standout, and the cookies across the board, particularly the peanut butter miso and the chocolate chip, land with a texture and flavor that most bakeries with no dietary restrictions cannot match. The congee is worth knowing about if you want something savory, warming and well seasoned with enough flexibility in the toppings to make it feel like a complete meal rather than an afterthought on an otherwise sweet focused menu. Prices run on the higher side, which is the most common hesitation, but the quality of the ingredients and the execution justify most of it. Lines can get long during peak hours and the space fills up quickly, so coming earlier or during a slower window makes the experience easier. Staff are warm and knowledgeable, happy to walk you through the menu and offer recommendations without any pressure. For a gluten free bakery experience, Verveine is the best in the Boston area without much of a debate. For a bakery experience in general, it holds its own. We would come back for the ube brownie and a cinnamon roll, and we would plan to arrive before the midday rush.

We decided to stick around for an early lunch, so I ordered an avocado toast and black sesame latte. There was plenty of outdoor seating, and we were able to find a table while we waited. Our food was brought out in about five minutes since ordering, but our server forgot about our drinks - these arrived several minutes later. Verveine's avocado toast was by far the most elevated avocado toast I've ever seen. Vibrant pomegranate arils, pink beets (I think), arugula, and pistachios were generously sprinkled over the avocado. The bread was nice and crusty and served as a solid base for the mountain of toppings. As for my drink, I love anything with black sesame, but the latte had a more watered-down black sesame flavor than I was expecting. All in all, I felt satisfied with my light lunch but was really looking forward to trying Verveine's baked goods.

Picked the Salsiccia pizza to split between us (and a poached pear and cannoli for dessert). First, the atmosphere is great! Inviting, with great views of Ball Square and the amazing pizza oven. The pizza arrived at the perfect temperature and quickly (we learned later that a pizza spends less than couple minutes in the oven due to how blisteringly hot it gets). Great flavor and composition to the pizza -- the sausage was extremely flavorful and there was just enough cheese. The dough is top notch, with just the right amount of chew! The poached pear and cannoli were excellent. Not too sweet with sufficient complexity. Very, very nice. My fiancé chatted with the staff and learned more about the location and the pizza oven (I mean, it's just too cool to not ask to see more closely). Great service, fantastic food. Will certainly return and I now feel remiss that we hadn't yet been.

The spicy sausage pizza was excellent, the dough is homemade and tastes incredibly fresh. The toppings are fresh as well, which really comes through in the flavor. We walked into a room where the walls are covered in memorabilia and every table is labeled with the name of a famous person who has sat there, giving the space a personality that no amount of designed ambiance can replicate. It feels like a place with genuine history rather than a place performing one. The burgers are the reason to come and they hold up after more than six decades without apology. The patties are thick and cooked to order, with medium being the right call for maximum juiciness. The creative topping combinations across the named burgers give you a range of directions to go depending on your mood. The Masshole is a natural starting point for a first visit, and the build your own option is worth knowing about if you want to go a more specific route. The portions are large enough that leaving satisfied is essentially guaranteed. The onion rings are a great choice of side for good reason, crispy and well seasoned in a way that holds up alongside the burger rather than competing with it, and the sweet potato fries are a strong alternative if you want something slightly less heavy. The frappes and shakes are worth ordering if you want something to wash it all down, and the raspberry lime Rickey is a summer ready drink with a refreshing taste. Service is straightforward and efficient, fitting the no-nonsense energy of a busy burger joint that has been handling crowds for decades. The staff moves quickly and knows the menu inside out, helping first timers navigate the extensive list of named burgers without hesitation. For a classic burger experience in Harvard Square that delivers on history, flavor, and personality, Mr. Bartley's Burger Cottage remains a landmark worth every bit of its reputation.

The burgers looked good, but then we took a bite. We both got medium, but usually that means pink...not raw. I'm not even lying my burger felt like I was eating raw meat. The meat was still super soft and shredded like. I get pink, but not raw. I was nervous I'd be sick after to be honest. I hate seeing pictures of people's bitten into food online but I felt the need to post it for reference... She said it was fine as long as we didn't order drinks, then seated us at the bar. We were only given drink menus. When the bartender came over to take our order, I had to ask for a food menu myself. Our seating was also uncomfortable. We were placed right next to the bar/server station. My sister got splashed when drinks were being opened, and servers repeatedly bumped into her chair while passing. We ordered the Carnivore pizza. The pizza itself was quite salty.
