Ifs about a 7 minute walk south of main Porter Square, but thank goodness I made the walk. I originally was going to go to the Italian restaurant further down, glad I took this detour! Every component is fresh. Those refried beans are homemade, thick, and perfectly seasoned. The adobada was great too. Definitely coming back, they pupusas, tostadas as well, and smothering everything with those refried beans

Tried Chivo Taqueria for the first time a few weeks ago and was not disappointed! Ordered take out online which was ready basically as soon as I arrived, although the restaurant was really cute & also has some cute patio seating. Ordered a large carne asada burritio and cheese papusa and both were excellent. Papusa came with a very generous amount of slaw and hot sauce, both of which were really flavorful. The burrito was huge and I love their huge variety of salsas that they have to choose from. Also got the horchata which was tasty as well. My order total was ~$20 which I feel is super fair considering how much food it was. Really excited to have found this place as Porter Square is severely lacking in Mexican food. Will definitely be a regular customer now!!

I was a priest for 20 years, and I was completely abiding by the faith of the lord and was celibate. I took one bite, and I had an epiphany. The food was so delicious that it genuinely made me have an enlightenment. I contemplated going to the counter and asking for chef to give them a token of my gratitude, but I knew I had to control myself because if I saw said cook, I'd kiss them on the spot. In the end, if I could rate this place higher than 5 stars, I definitely would. Please bring your establishment to New Orleans, Louisiana. Thank you, Chivo Taqueria.

I visited Chivo for lunch . The place was pretty empty but there were few people inside and few sitting outside. The order was taken quickly and i mentioned i wanted Cheese and Bean papusa twice and then after she asked if it was cheese and bean or cheese and spinach and i said Cheese and bean and yet i got after 3 confirmation cheese and spinach papusa Overall papusa was frozen and then grilled perfectly but since it being frozen ready it was bland which i guess how it is supposed to be but the cheese has no taste either. I did also get the side order of chips and Salsa and Guac. The 3 starts are mostly for good Guac and amazing selection of salsas and all very tasty and flavorful. I had regular salsa, mango habanero , king's salsa and one more which came with papusa but not sure of the name. Overall i am conflicted on how to rate but i will def go again one more time to try some other stuff and see how that fares and update it then but for now 3 stars

I tried Chivo in July 2023, so I'm not sure how much things have changed since then. I was excited to see a new restaurant on Mass Ave. The decor is festive and inviting. I got a burrito bowl with fried fish and shrimp. The fried fish was not worth getting -- not much fish meat. The shrimps were small but the sauce was yummy. They do have good flavors and many topping options. But overall, I've definitely had fried fish tacos and shrimp burrito bowls that I preferred to this one, both in terms of protein portion size and fry quality. I also tried a bit of the chicken. I thought it was stringy and not particularly tender, but it's possible that's improved since my visit. Overall, Chivo has great flavors but I wasn't a big fan of their protein options. It's comparable in quality to El Jefe's and Chipotle, though more expensive than both. I might return to try their breakfast options that people seem to like.

AMAZING new spot between Harvard and Porter! As someone who's recently moved from California and had a hard time finding good taco spots in Boston, I'm glad I found this place! The tacos were great and there were lots of meat options. But my favorite was the cheese and pork pupusa. So flavorful and crunchy! Will for sure be coming back to this place.

Guacamole 10/10. Great chips as well. As far as dishes go, the chicken is good, steak is so so. Great prices for what you get!

The steak was cooked perfectly and it came with everything I was craving. Plus the refried beans, creama, eggs, plantains, chicharron, and warm tortilla--yum! The pupusa was different, as it's made with a different cheese here which the waitress did warn us. Because of this, it wasn't our favorite but still good. Overall this spot is popular in East Boston, I would definitely check it out! Also if you tell them it's your birthday they will sing to you and you get to wear the special hat :)

The prices are not good at all for the quality and portion size . The waiter took forever to just bring us water , never mind servicing us . Yikes ! The vibe feels like you're in a busy supermarket not warm at all . Parking is limited as they have no garage. Plus it's located near the Tobin bridge so no side street parking . You might have to walk like 2 blocks or less for a safe parking spot . Just always read the signs before parking .
