We come to this restaurant often. Today was an 'off' day for them. The service was very good, they had two waiters working. We have gone on days when they only have one serving and you wait for everything. Now, about the food. My husband and I come here for the hummus alone. I think it is the best tasting hummus in the Lehigh Valley. We cannot find another Mid-East restaurant that has hummus that is this delicious. Well, today it was off. It did not have much flavor and was just middle of the road hummus. Maybe they had a new or different cook making the hummus; but, today it was not up to par. I had the chicken and lamb Kabob combo. The chicken was excellent; but, the lamb was really disappointing. It was extremely tough. That was the first time I got the lamb and will be the last. I usually get the beef and chicken combo and the beef has always been good. We will definitely return to this restaurant; it is our favorite Mid-Eastern restaurant in the Lehigh Valley. First, their butchery is amazing. I only buy my meat from them. Their beef tastes amazing and their lamb is fantastic. I don't know where they find their meat, but you can taste the difference compared to grocery bought meats. The restaurant is delicious. Their kebab, soup, rice, baklava.. This is the greatest restaurant. The food is always fresh and reasonable. It's especially great when you can bring a bottle of your favorite wine along and they are always happy to open the wine and bring glasses at your table. Our favorite waitress is Shayda. I frequent this restaurant a lot. The service is awesome. The waiter is attentive and friendly. He will take the time to explain the menu. The food is cooked to order and delicious. I have had the apps and entrees. All have been wonderful. Too bad it is located in dicey section of town. Don't let this dissuade you. It is rather dull and dark inside but very clean. Although not in the most desirable part of town, it's still well worth the trip to eat here. You walk into a small store, but the restaurant is tucked behind a wall to your right as you enter. The dining room is not overly fancy, but it was much more appealing than I expected and proved to be a comfortable space in which to eat. The service was friendly and extremely competent. It was a little slow at times, but nothing nearly enough to be an irritant and to be fair, I had unwittingly entered not too long before their closing time. Any delays were due to the employees being busy as opposed to being inattentive. Also, despite being one of the last two tables present, there was absolutely no pressure to leave or any impatience displayed by any of the staff. I had an appetizer of kibbeh and a doner pita, along with Turkish tea and enjoyed it all. The kibbeh had a finer, more flour-like texture than I was used to, but as Middle Eastern cuisine naturally spans many countries, I'm guessing this was reflective of the Turkish influence. The doner pita was huge and filled with a generous amount of meat (real beef/lamb and not the usual commercial gyro loaf) along with a good portion of homemade sauce. Finally, I quite enjoyed the Turkish tea, served in the proper small glass with the mini spoon. The staff made sure I received refills as desired. The portions were all good and the prices were reasonable. All in all, as long as you're more interested in solidly good food and not hung up on a fancy ambiance, I'd heartily suggest trying Aci Halal. read more

Me and my family visited this place couple of times. They have limited seat which force you to reserve your seat before you go. One side has Turkish market where you can find all Arabic and Turkish food & drinks. Other side has restaurant which is quite small. What makes this restaurant favourite for me is the taste. Service is not perfect but I find the taste that I need. I wish they have bigger place. That will lead owner to serve better to their customer. Nevertheless, it's a great middle eastern restaurant. Having travelled extensively throughout the middle east and Turkey, I often crave some good middle eastern cuisine here in the Lehigh Valley. For the 8 years I have been in the Lehigh Valley, Aci halal does well to satisfy my cravings. The waitstaff there is extremely friendly and offer great suggestions. My favorite items from their menu, which offers a nice variety of Turkish food, is the babagonoush (roasted eggplant pureed with tahini, lemon and spices) served with home made bread and the Iskender kebab. Iskender kebab is one of my favorite Turkish dishes and having sampled home made Iskender in Turkey as well as joints in several Turkish cities, I can safely say Aci halal ranks as one of the best I have had. Iskender kebab is a delectable dish consisting of layers of crispy, fresh pide bread, doner kebab (ground lamb kebab from a rotating rotisserie), butter, yoghurt and their incredible home made tomato sauce. The symphony of taste, textures and temperatures simply explode on our taste receptors. You need to try it to really feel that burst of foodgasm. Also for those trying iskender, bring your appetite, because the portion size is huge. I also like their Mercemek (pronounced Marjemek) kofte which is fine bulgur and red lentil balls. Squeeze on a little lemon and have it with some lettuce. Its fresh and a wonderful way to start your meal. Its a BYOB establishment, and if one is really looking for a Turkish experience, get some RakI (Turkish national drink) add some chilled water and enjoy! Their Doner kebab is quite decent as well. My only criticism would be the flavor of their other kebabs could be more flavorful. The cook on the meat is almost always perfect, but it could use a little more flavor. As a good accompaniment to the meal, order some Aryan (a salty yoghurt based drink) to wash down the succulent meats and subtle flavors. If one is looking for a nice wine to go with the meal, I suggest a Pinot with spicy tones. Enough of my blabberings, just go there and try their food and maybe buy yourself some Turkish goodies (from the grocery in the front of the restaurant) on your way out. Cheers! read more

Excellent food and service. My family and I went here tonight while we are visiting Allentown. We were looking for a good, halal restaurant after a few days of eating vegetarian. A few reviews that I had read said that this was a run-down, hole in the wall type of place in a sketchy area, so my expectations were a little low. I was surprised by how nice the little restaurant was; only about 10-12 tables but they were set very nicely. Our waiter was great; very kind. My dad ordered the lamb chops and beef, I ordered the lamb chops and chicken, and my mom and sister both ordered the chicken and beef. Everything was delicious! The meat was moist, tender and flavorful and the vegetables were great as well. We all loved the charred pepper and tomato. The bread and sauce was also delicious. A few minutes into our meal,our waiter came and gave my mom a little dish with a piece of chicken on a bed of lettuce. I guess they had left a piece behind. So nice of them to bring it! For the quality of the food, the price was also good. Overall, we had a great experience, the food was awesome as was the service. Definitely recommend it! read more

So I decided to go after reading all these reviews and I'll say that the multi-appetizer arrangement was better than the gyro entree. The falafal was just awful. Hard and crumbling without absolutely ZERO flavor. I am a vegetarian so I need spices generously disseminated throughout my meal. I was really fiending for some good old fashioned lamb over rice or at least some quality falafel. Upon arrival I knew I had found the right place to satisfy my cravings. The moment I walked in I was greeted by some of the employees, a wonderful aroma , and immediately felt at home. The layout is similar to another one of my favorite food places in the area. They have a small grocery store/deli combo in the front half of the store coupled with a restaurant/bakery in the back. The waitress who seated me went above and beyond throughout my dining experience. I couldn't help myself upon seeing the menu to get an order of the lamb kebab and falafel. Every penny I spent was worth it. The lamb kebab comes with lettuce with what i assume to be a pickled radish seasoning, a full plate of race, and a good portion of lamb. The slight bitterness of the lettuce, the sweet and salty taste of the rice, and the savory and smokey taste of the meat brought out the best in the others respective flavors.The falafel was delightful to eat and was too good to share. Aci Halal is wonderful! My husband was taken there by one of his customers one afternoon for lunch. This man had also taken our neighbor and his wife there. A few weeks after he first went, my husband took me there. It was great. We had the lunch special of the salad (cucumber, tomato, red onion, parsley) with kebab meat on top. (I love the beef, he always gets the chicken). We said "Yes" to the feta on top, and it makes it even more delicious. With the special comes the soup. We've been there about 6 times since late spring, and in the warmer weather they serve only one soup, the red lentil soup. It is SOOO good that I want to make it at home. It also comes with bread and a beverage. We get the Turkish coffee. The female server (who we've had the last 4 times) is very friendly, and asked how we like our regular coffee as far as sweetness. She recommended the amount of sugar she thought we'd like, as neither of us had ever had Turkish coffee before and she was spot-on. As we were leaving that first time, our neighbors (who had been brought to Aci Halal by the same man as who had taken my husband there for the first time) were walking in! It had impressed them, too. They told us that they go there often. The exterior is unimpressive, but if you overlook the location you will be glad you did. Friendly service, excellent food, and good prices! read more

Absolutely amazing! What a fantastic find! This is the best restaurant for authentic Middle Eastern food. We had the meze appetizer combo. I have to say, the baba stole the show. Split the lamb chops, chicken skewers & donor kebab. The owner's son literally cut the lamb chops fresh. Something about the sound of a table saw that really sparks the appetite. A true gem! This was my first visit and I loved it. The menu has many choices, including vegetarian. I had humus and pita bread for appetizer and it is the best hummus I've tasted so far. We ordered the chicken as well as the lamb khebab and it was very tasty, tender, with good portions. We ended up taking about half of our meals home for the next day. It still tasted good. Dessert was excellent - we had baklava with Turkish coffee and tea. The price was reasonable and service was excellent. This was a great cultural experience and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I loved it! I was looking for a halal market, that was not as far as Philadelphia. I arrived late, but took in all the scenery and experience. I had the lamb kebobs over the rice with the side salad and roasted tomato and the COCONUT cake. All was delicious. The food at Aci Halal is extremely good. However what makes them only "A-Ok" is the fact that some of their employees are extremely rude. On Sunday I had friends from another state come to my house. They were simple dropped off in the parking lot of this establishment. An employee came out and proceeded to have a very loud shouting match with me about having my friend's car towed. The car he was accusing us of parking there did not belong to anyone in my group, it belonged to a customer IN his store. He was extremely rude and even after we told him that was not our car he proceeded with his shouting at us. read more

YUM YUM YUM YUM YUM! Every person i took here/told them about this place LOVED it!! And I'm a very picky person when it comes to food coming from a culinary family and having visited many countries and tried their cuisines. This turkish restaurant is everything! It gives you great portions (specifically when you go during their lunch specials which are on weekdays from 11-3pm). The restaurant is hooked to the halal butcher shop so you know you're getting fresh cut meat. The seasoning on the meat is amazing and the salad is amazing and their rice pudding is amazing! Im drooling as im writing this haha! Please do yourself a favor and check this place out! My recommendations are the rice pudding, lamb chops with rice, their salad with chicken shish kebab or with rice, adana kebab, lamb shish kebab... Every kebab on the menu!
