On my stop in Venice last Fall, my Gondolier recommended Aciugheta for dinner, when I asked him for ideas. I enjoyed the energetic atmosphere on the patio. I ordered the Polpetta (Venetian style beef and pork meatballs, Baccala' Mantecato (a Venetian specialty that Anthony Bourdain tried from another restaurant in Venice), a Venetian style pizza with zucchini flowers and Sicilian anchovies, and Tiramisu for dessert. The highlight may have been the Baccala' Mantecato, which is whipped or creamed cod, and was more delicious than I expected. The pizza was good and featured unique Venetian toppings. The meatballs had good flavor but were a tad dry. Some marinara on the side would go a long way, and I enjoyed the Tiramisu, although it was not like others I had on my Italy trip. This place isn't going to win an award for being the cutest or fanciest restaurant in Venice, but it has pretty tasty pizza with lots of flavor and lots of good wine options. The outdoor seating is really adorable and the wine list is very good. We were able to do a couple glasses of aged wine as well which was surprising for a pizza place in Venice - often times the aged wine isn't available by the glass, so this was a nice treat as well! If you look closely you'll find pizzas with some more interesting ingredients than others. One pizza had 'nduja another had straciatelli and we had anchiovies as well. These pizzas were all much better than the plain sorta margherita type pizza we had. Definitely a good stop for a chill lunch with a glass of wine! read more

Hot day in Venice and was packed outside, but had plenty of tables inside with air. The Food was great, service was good, and definitely recommend. We over-ordered on pizza but it was all good. THE BEST MEAL I HAD IN ITALY! Apparently, the owners own Il Ridotto (the Michelin star next door). If you look at Il Ridotto's window, its held a Michelin star for 10 years now. We ordered a calamari and seafood ink pasta. The calamari was lightly breaded and fried perfectly! The calamari consisted of vegetables and seafood, both incredibly delicious! The lemon added the perfect bite to a phenomenal dish. The seafood pasta included tomato, cucumber, squid, all lightly drizzled with olive oil. The noodles were cooked to PERFECTION and I was slurping these noodles so fast, it was gone in minutes! The waiters were super funny and friendly! We are so happy the concierge Pier at our Hotel Savoia & Jolanda recommended this restaurant. Well we devoured all this food, OMG it's so so delicious, we ask the locals where to eat & spot on. I'd say check out other options. If you're wanting a place that doesn't have a wait, this would be a good place to go. We decided to dine outside because it was absolutely beautiful out after the rain passed by. That's all I really have to say. Pizza was just meh. The bread on the table was probably the best part. We were seated immediately upon arrival. The wait staff was quick to get us our initial menus and our water. When the waiter returned with the water he informed us that they had all of the pizza options, but they were only serving four of the non-pizza items listed on the menu. He rattled them off quickly, so I don't remember what they were, but I ordered the lasagna which was one of the four remaining options. We had no further problems ordering and when I asked if they served Sprite I was told that they didn't, but they had something "like Sprite, but better." The drink he was referring to was Gazzosa which was really good, but not worth the €5 cost. We had seven people at our table and ordered three pizzas plus my lasagna. The pizzas were excellent and, for Venice, decently priced at €12-14 a pizza. The lasagna was good, but not good enough to justify the €16 spent. We didn't have any problems up until the end when we wanted to get our bill. We started trying to get the waiter's attention at 8:25 and weren't able to get him to our table until around 9:05. They were incredibly low on staff and he was one of two waiters working. We got the card and set it on the table immediately, but he didn't come back for another 15 minutes. Once he was back we were able to pay and leave within five minutes. I would give this restaurant 3.5 stars if possible on Yelp simply because the service was incredibly slow and the restaurant was understaffed. read more

The staff were sweet, accommodating, and timely. The food was good and for a good price. The restaurant was more than willing to accommodate for allergens as best as possible. Had the beef fillet in peppercorn sauce with a creamy potato square dish a bit like polenta. Seriously delicious. The beef quality was excellent and cooked a perfect medium as I asked. The sauce was fantastic with a hint of mustard and a solid peppery kick. My girl had the vegetarian pizza. It was good, but could have been more flavorful. She had a pinot grigio which she liked enough to have a second glass. Dinner came with bread which was very good. Flavorful and fresh. We finished by sharing a tiramisu which was superb. It hit all the right flavor notes and was not too sweet. My beef fillet was 24€. I'm a bit surprised that the restaurant is listed as €€€. It seems less expensive, like €€. But I'm not sure how the price rating is calculated so my perception may be inaccurate. read more

I came here for cecchetti and was not disappointed. This place has a great selection and is centered in a little square. It was great for people watching munching on some cecchetti and enjoying a nice drink. This is also a restaurant, but I don't recommend eating dinner here. I had a Spritz with campari and my husband had a negroni (lots of alcohol). We split the bruschetta and had a crostino de pesce (it was cuttlefish). They were both very good. The crusts were crunchy and the tomato's were pretty good. Overall, it was a great experience to people watch and drink some great alcohol. read more

The waitstaff at this spot were so gracious and welcoming. The bathrooms were spotless. Service was expedient and they refused my tip but deserved it. I had tapas style lunch of crostinis of bacalao, Thai steak and a tea sandwich of avocado paste and smoked salmon. Looked amazing. Walked inside and sat there about 20 mins. Finally received menus. Sat for another 15 mins and asked for a server and the only ones were helping the very large party behind us. We started with the small anchovy pizza - which is a pizza the size of a small plate with a single anchovy. Tasted fine. We were there for a plate of cicchetti, which you could not choose yourself. We were served a couple of meatballs, pickled salmon wrapped around a slice of eggplant, cured boquerones, some excellent baccala puree (Baccalà mantecato), poached tuna on barley (slightly vinegary), and some pan-fried fresh cod (or similar flaky white fish).
