Went here i believe for the 1st time with my parents on Saturday February 1st 2025. This recently opened in 2024, and I have not been here yet. Acme is a popular spot in new jersey that is a supermarket and has a pharmacy too. Plenty of parking in the parking lot outside, as it is located in a mall area with other stores nearby. we found a parking spot somewhat easily. With any place, it can be really busy on a saturday. It was for sure. and quite rude people too, as some people bumped into me and squeezed their way through. granted, maybe i shouldn't have a big bag, but, can people say excuse me at least? Anyways, we looked at the produce, and some of the items were expensive. We then went to the section where they kept water and soda, and got 3 cases of water, and some arizona iced tea. Since we are from New York, we go here to avoid the bottle deposit fees, and stock up! went to the self checkout, and easy service. Definitely will be back soon! read more

Acme is a great place where you can get everything. They have great quality items, such as their brand Signature Balsamic Vinegar, Lucerne dairy products, and their deli items are delicious too. I must give props to Patricia behind the deli counter who always greets you with a smile and great service. She is a dying breed these days. I highly recommend this location. read more

Out of the grocery stores nearby, this one has one of the bigger varieties and has more items to offer. The hot food also has a large variety and the mango habanero chicken was well marinated. The starbucks was busy, only one employee but the speed was good. The coffee was burnt though but can't blame the employee because it is overwhelming to be working a busy shift alone. The atmosphere was nice! The aisles are very well lit, nice and bright. Seemed very clean as well & the flowers are beautiful here! Now Acme loses a star from me bc of their prices. Acme's "sales" are more expensive than shoprites regular costs. Example: Talenti at shoprite is often 2/$6.00 or 2/$7.00 while it's $8 on "sale" here. Jimmy dean breakfast sandwhiches: 12 pack for $13 at Shoprite while here they sell the 6 pack for around $17 Buying the same items from Acme costs $40 while it $20 at shoprite. And of course when you buy more, the difference and loss adds up. Overall, I rather drive a few minutes extra to a big shoprite as theyd have the same items for much less. read more

One of the better super markets in the area. Not nearly as crowded as others and has fine selection. There is always easy parking in the lot. The mini mall has a ups store and liquor store so often is a one stop destination. Prices are decent and comparable ton other markets. read more

I am not happy with the self check out system that they have at ACME. I can handle the machines without any one's assistance. I am constantly told by ACME that I am not using the machines the right way. I told the staff and management on numerous occasions that I find this policy to be rude and insulting. I have been going to this ACME for a couple years since they closed the one by me. Up until today I would have recommended them. But today they just lost a customer. I went in to buy a week's worth of food as I have been doing since this whole COVID-19 started. I had been going to ShopRite for everything but I heard that they restock faster. I figured I could maybe get some toilet paper since I haven't purchased any since January. They brought out some packages on my way to the line. I think it was a manager that brought them out and I took one. I asked if it was ok to take a second because wanted to pickup for another household. He agreed. Now I'm on line and a cashier stops me to say there's a limit of 1. I said he just told me (and apparently several other people) that I could take 2. She then gets him to make an announcement that you can only buy one. The customer next to me then offers to buy it for me as she wasn't buying any and the woman refused to give it to her but rather handed it to someone on the self checkout to buy. Then I see her and another cashier pulling toilet paper and other items out of people's carts while they wait in line. Nothing like making your customers feel horrible for trying to buy things they need during a pandemic. I get the limits but come on. This woman was a toilet paper grinch and looked so happy that she was able to stop me and other people from buying it. I'll take my business to ShopRite, Costco, BJ's, or anywhere else where the limit is 2 and they're much friendlier. P.S. They had more people searching carts than they did working the registers. read more

Well this is the first time I've stepped in this store since it's changed and oh my God! I felt like I was in wallmart only the customers were the employees. Look it's a supermarket no one is expecting furs and Bentley's but something above trailer park trash would be nice. The "manager" on duty had no problem belitteling the other employees loudly in front of everyone. At least the employees before they changed hands were very sweet and polite. 2 stars because the meat department appeared clean. read more

Definitely the worst grocery store that I have ever been to. Produce is horrible, was here the other day and unsuccessfully searched for a red pepper without wrinkles. The people that work in the butcher department are the most rude and unaccommodating employees in any butcher department that I have been to. There is a man and a woman and both are equally rude...as if they are annoyed that they have to help you. I honestly have never experienced attitudes like theirs in any grocery store that I have ever been to. I try to avoid having to shop in this location whenever possible but every now and then will stop in for convenience, more times than not I regret stopping here. read more

This used to be an old A&P location and transitioned into ACME after they sold a bunch of stores. The prices are way better than A&P, but for some reason this store in particular (even when it was A&P) has ridiculously high produce prices. The Starbucks is a nice touch and always handy. It seems like the produce section and other areas are going back to their old ways. I blame the manager, you know, the person that's in charge of the store. Yesterday ALL the bananas were past their prime, some brown, some rotting. Found much of the celery wilted and limp, couldn't buy it. Over at the frozen food dept for ice cream. Pulled sever containers of Tillamook out that were expired. One of them expired in 2021. Over at the dairy Dept there was some expired deli style ham on the shelf. This is not new here. Any time I go into this store I can easily find expired goods. You would think their inventory system would tell them this automatically, maybe it does. I seriously believe that the manager of this store is not qualified to run this store or any store of this size. Maybe a 7-11 is more suited for his wheel-house. He also picks on his staff in front of customers and other reviewers have mentioned this. I've seen it and it's simply not right for the employee or the shoppers. The manager, the one who makes his own ads on the PA system is ruining this location with his incompetence and unprofessionalism. It's a convenient location but it's getting tiring. It's a shame because the staff itself is very kind, friendly and helpful. read more

I came here today looking some particular things that I could not find on the shelf. One thing was beef liver (not for me, gross) but the guy in the meat department helped me locate in the frozen aisle. I also wanted coffee ice cream, which there was none left on the shelf. There was a guy there who was putting more ice cream out and found me some. I usually don't ask for help if I can't find something, but I'm glad I did and was helped with a smile. read more

I do not like the poor quality of customer service from store staff. Cashiers, especially, are very impatient and have an attitude towards customers. On several occasions when I asked a question at checkout (to confirm I got the right price as marketed) I was looked upon negatively by cashier for asking a question. And they also ( for some strange reason) hate when a customer shops with coupons. This attitude needs to change in the entire store if they wish to stay in good business. read more

I was in here the other day in the morning. It's not only immaculate but there is a wide selection of food. The produce is fresh, they carry Boarshead, and they just redid the entire store. I noticed one of the managers was there and it's nice to see the long Jevity of employees as well. Are used to shop here from 1997 through 2010 when it was the A&P. A complete 360!!! The one thing I used to buy all the time with flowers and the florist they have is fabulous all the flowers look fresh and full. I really can't say anything bad about the store. They also have fresh fish and a great meet department!!! I will do my weekly shopping here from now on. read more

During the A&P to Acme shift, the store removed self checkout. Huge disappointment. Also, the staff here is 10xs more rude than the A&P staff was. So instead of leaving here in the same or better mood (by using self checkout and bagging things my own way), I leave here in a worse mood because they're so rude. Do you guys tell your employees not to greet people? Or tell them to stay silent when I say you can put everything in as little bags as possible? I'm not looking for a conversation, but a response would be nice. It's looking like it it is worth traveling the extra 10 minutes to Stop and Shop after a few rude trips in a row. read more

The best thing about the Acme for me is its convenience and the relatively stressless shopping. Also there is the pharmacy. The prices are often too high and there is not the variety of choices compared to the ShopRite in Ramsey. The produce is sometimes iffy and you have to choose carefully for freshness. However, I like the butcher counter. As a senior citizen, I appreciate the fact that you can get just enough for two people. My biggest disappointment is the bakery. Most of the baked goods in Acme are low quality. Really junk level. The old A&P had a much better variety of high quality breads and rolls. I would go there sometimes just for the bread. Some of the bread offerings at Acme are good, but you have to buy a 16 oz. loaf. Too much for two people. Update on really poor service in the seafood and meat departments. Today at 4:00 I tried to buy salmon. Nobody there. Went to the meat department. Again, nobody. Waited and came back 3 times. Nobody! This has happened numerous times before. Nobody in charge. A big improvement over A&P. The new store revamp allows for more options with regards to vegetables, ready to make meals, and bakery. The Deli has been slow but of recent has improved in performance and added employees. The produce department has expanded greatly adding a lot of organic produce, the bakery has added locally made baked-goods. The people for the most part are very friendly and helpful and the Starbucks is my choice of local outlets, you can get a seat there and relax and read while you have your beverage. The prices are better than when A&P. Could they be cheaper? Sure, but then I will happily pay more and avoid the zoo which is Shop-Rite where lines are longer to check out. Also, the people who park at Acme seem to be more civilized than the bumper car lot at Interstate. read more

This place is over priced and the staffing is horrible. Came in this morning and everything is at least double the price of Shoprite. The store looks nice but that's all. As I was walking around I passed by probably 10 or so workers, they were just stocking or walking around. When I got to check out, 1 register was open and with a huge line. They didn't make any effort to call other cashiers to open the registers. The trip took forever and I spend more than I should of have. read more

I have been a loyal local customer since Acme opened (replacing the A&P). I have preferred it to the nearby Shop Rite, because I find Shop Rite's layout (not to mention parking) frustrating, chaotic, and claustrophobic. Besides, I have found Acme's produce department to have good variety and be kept fresh. Unfortunately, I recently contracted e.coli and though I can't be sure -- I had some suspicion it might've been from some frozen shrimp I'd bought at their store. That, in and of itself, isn't the reason for this poor review and low score -- I suppose that could happen with a purchase from any store. What bothers me is that I reached out to their corporate office's customer service (twice) to let them know of a possible suspicion, and no one ever got back to me. I did not provide much information initially, as space was limited, and I would've expected a response inquiring further, as this is a public health and safety matter. I imagine a product like that is not bought on a local level, but possibly a national one. But the poor customer care from corporate has now poisoned me against my local store, and not just from a deadly bacteria. read more

I have to tell you that the new cashiers that they hire have zero personalities......they talk more to other Acme personnel over the register while they are checking customers out.....especially the checkouts next to the courtesy counter....They only reason I go there is for the convenience. Rid themselves of the self-checkout registers to add more regular registers. This is a positive in terms of job opportunities for people, but the only problem is they are not staffed. In cases I could be in and out quickly with only a couple of items, I now have to wait on lines. Hope they can man these registers. read more
