I've been to this HMart location several times and finally posting my thoughts. Clean space, friendly staff and plenty of parking makes it a top Bergen county grocery store but much more! Lots of fresh produce, meats, food court, sushi and prepared meals ready to go. In particular, we enjoyed our selections from their Seafood department. The live lobsters were one sale along with shrimp, fresh fish and scallops. So we had to load up for an epic at home date night! Highly recommend you stop in and give yourself some time to explore this fantastic store filled with quality products from all over the globe! read more

Another weekend run to H Mart for grocery shopping. All items were stocked up well. Clean and tidy store. There were couple of ladies hanging out fruit and tea samples. We got bunch of fruits, vegetables and Sea bass filet. We stopped by customer service to redeem our H mart points, it was $70 worth cash certificate, paid for half of stuff we bought. First time visiting this location. I've only ever been to the H Mart in American Dream. If I'm not mistaken, American Dream does not have the food hall - or maybe when I visited they didn't. (Haven't been in a while) My husband was surprised at how fair the prices were. We were also happy because we just grabbed dinner there when we finished our shopping trip. They had about 4 different places you can order food - a Hot Stone place, Mochinut, the Ramen place and a Korean bbq chicken spot. Made for a good array of food & snacks/treats. I tried a bite of my husband's Oreo/cookies and cream Mochinut donut and his Korean hot dog and they were both delicious. I got the dumpling ramen for dinner which was delicious and not too spicy. All of the workers were very nice and helpful. The store was clean. My only downside is that I feel the aisles were very small. It felt like we were constantly bumping into people with our cart. read more

3.5 Stars Excellent, fresh, clean, produce department but expect to pay more than the usual supermarket. Huge selections of all other items. (even yoga mats! LOL) prepared foods, hard to find Asian foods and kitchen tools. I'd say 80 % Asian foods and the rest generic. I heard the fish market is good but I am picky and only go to my local fish market. There is an independent bakery ( Tous Les Jours) within the store that has some amazing cakes, pastries, and breads. But you will have to pay at their register for their items. It's interesting that H Mart's are so vastly different depending on the location. I thought this location had a particularly cool setup. What stood out is the marinated meat buffet - at first I thought it was a hot food counter. It tuned out to be about 20 different marinated meats. Bulgogi, Galbi rib.... Tons of options you can purchase by the pound. Korean marinated meats are some of my favorite, and this was a very unique way to sell meat by the pound. They also had a great frozen food section, much better than most H Marts. Lots of mandu dumplings, frozen Korean meals and snacks. I even found corn wafer ice cream sandwiches. No hot food besides a small food court that had a mochinut and bbq chicken. Overall an H Mart worth revisiting! read more

Stopping by with my kids to get some cool anime-themed soda (Goku "Ocean Bomb") one weekend afternoon, we marveled at the broad selection of grocery items not found in most U.S. supermarkets. The highlight of our trip, however, was the food court, where there was Korean fried chicken, Korean flavored hot dogs, rice balls and mochi donuts. The flavors and combinations of ingredients made for fascinating lunch options, from a Flaming Hot Cheetos hot dog to Oreo-topped mochi donuts. The chicken rice ball I tried was delicious and super-spicy, while the shrimp tempura rice ball one kid ordered was sheer perfection. The coated hot dogs were also wild. They're like corn dogs but with cool flavor combinations. The servers behind the counter were pleasant, professional and attentive. And although the seating area had high ceilings like the rest of the store, it felt simultaneously cozy and airy. (The opposite of dining at a big-box retailer.) We're excited to sample the fried chicken next time! read more

This is not the biggest Hmart but it seems sufficient for Asian groceries like fruits, veggies, meat, seafood, pantry staples, etc. in a clean setting. One thing that's different from the one in Fort Lee is the Korean fried chicken stand which is quite tasty. They also have a Tous les jours bakery. When we went at the end of the night they had a buy 3 get 1 free of certain bakery items. This one is a little bit of a pain to get to compared to Fort Lee. There's a pet supply store, DSW and BJs not too far. read more

On December 27, I visited the H Mart location in Paramus, NJ with my trained service dog, who was carried in a bag. An employee named Youngran Oh told me that dogs were not allowed in the store. I informed her that my dog is a service dog, and I moved away from the area. However, she continued to follow me while I was shopping. When I was approaching the cash register, she confronted me again and insisted that a service dog must be walking and cannot be carried in a bag. I explained that not all service dogs perform the same tasks and that some service dogs are carried depending on their role. Despite this, she stated that the health department had told her that service dogs must be walking. I then went to customer service to speak with a manager. The manager told me that many customers had complained about a dog in the store and asked me to understand the situation, even though I repeatedly explained that my dog is a service dog. I felt extremely embarrassed, frustrated, and discriminated against. I do not understand why I was treated this way. Not all disabilities are visible, and not all service dogs perform the same duties. I have a fully trained service dog and also possess a doctor's letter. People with service dogs should not be treated differently or harassed while shopping. Store employees should be properly educated on how to interact respectfully and lawfully with individuals with disabilities. I intend to report this incident to the appropriate American disability Act. read more

My family had purchased groceries from this H Mart many times before, but today was my first time visiting their food hall (Market Eatery). There were plenty of options between the ramen, bibimbap, bulgogi, mochi donuts, boba, fried chicken, etc. but we decided on the Korean corn dog kiosk. All three of us ordered a Hot Cheeto Mozzarella Corn Dog. For drinks, I chose an Iced Matcha and my brothers got the Thai Tea Boba and Taro Boba. Service was friendly and pretty quick, and we were able to snag a table right away. The Hot Cheeto Mozzarella Corn Dog was incredibly fluffy and filling. It was a bit too heavy for the stick, so you really had to eat it quickly to stop it from falling off. I also tried some sushi from the grocery section, which was tasty but pretty standard for grocery store sushi. Overall though, I really liked the vibe of this food court - would return to try more items! read more

The food court has a fried chicken and nugget joint, more-typical hot plate fare that seems overpriced, and one of two other vendors that are rather unmemorable. This is a nice location. It has a good produce section, and everything you expect in the aisles. The food court is a little smaller than other H Marts (like Little Ferry for example), but still high quality offerings. Also, even though it's on Route 17, which can be really busy, there is an entrance off of South Farview Ave that is not as stressful to get to. Mochinut is inside the food court. Some days I'll stop in just for this if I'm nearby and get a snack :) read more

The food area is tucked away in the corner (to the immediate left once you enter H Mart). It's set up like a food court so the service is quick and the food is hot. I got veggie tofu stew and it came with a side of rice and the kimchi seen in the photo. I got mild slice and the flavor was delightful. It reminded me of a veggie pizza. But I do have a grip about the bakery, not the products but a particular individual which I call the Korean gorilla. This gentleman and I use the word lately can never have a normal conversation with individuals that come to the counter. The gorilla always has his hair in his face. OK if you want to be emo do that on your own time but I don't want hair in my coffee. When he has made my coffee or any other drink, I've never seen him wash his hands but I guarantee you he will give you an attitude or mean mug you when you ask him something because you are wasting his time while he's on the clock. On top of being rude is disrespectful. HR I know you could do better. Other than that, the place is clean always stocked. It's immaculate and the people that worked. A smaller but efficient Hmart off of route 17. Busy and alot of people but they have the little carts to use baskets with which makes it much easier to get through the aisles. Small food court and all the basics. While not a super size, it has all the basics and layout is similar albeit a bit chaotic for newcomers. I love shopping at HMart Paramus. Food is always fresh, produce section is vast and carries all the items needed in a Chinese kitchen. All of their tomatoes are excellent - because they store them at temperatures that preserve their flavor. They also have fresh rice cakes, several styles of kimchi, plenty of dofu choices, frozen fish balls, frozen meats great for making broth and a plentiful fresh meats section. Also a well-stocked seafood counter. If you're needing to cook up a quick and tasty meal, check out the marinated meats section. You can cook up a pound or two of thin-sliced beef or pork bulgogi in just a few minutes. Pair it with rice and a veggie or salad, and bam! A wonderful meal on the table in about half an hour. The vegetable Korean sushi rolls (kimbap) are delicious, sold in packages near the marinated meat section. This HMart also carries an extensive selection of Chinese grocery items including bottled ingredients, fresh Shanghai and egg noodles and a small but respectable selection of frozen Chinese dumplings. Those wanting a meal can check out the food court selections in the southern end of the store. The booths are always busy but I haven't yet tried them out. read more

I accidentally found this place when I was hungry for dumplings, and this is by far the most amazing supermarket I've ever been in. I'm in love. This place is filled--FILLED with the freshest fruits & vegetables, even the best ones you can't find anywhere else, like jackfruit, durian, too many to name! They're all organic, and lowest prices I've seen! I was astonished at their selection, and wish I lived closer! They also have an extensive meat department with fresh meat & seafood. They have aisles of amazing, hard to find snacks, and I didn't go through the whole store but I felt like a kid in a candy store. I'm pretty sure they have everything anyone might need here. I was actually pleasantly surprised the first time i visited here that i posted a status in facebook about it LOL there is ample parking space and the place is huge compared to other H Marts. There are 2 major things I liked about place. First, without a doubt, is their food court. The vendors are all serving korean dishes and all of them look so good! They are all authentic korean and the food we've tried were fresh and delicious! Here you can find a variety of meals including bibimbaps, bulgogis, tteokbokkis, korean chicken wings and the like. Second thing I liked is how the store was so nicely organized and looked so neat. The goods available are not all just exclusively from Korea but also from Japan, China even Philippines! So you get to try a variety of things! It was such a delight coming here and to see snacks from all over asia and even candies i've had during my childhood days. H-Mart is everything you want in an Asian supermarket and more! It's located conveniently right on Rt. 17 across from GSP. Tons of parking spaces too, I went on a Saturday and found a spot with no issue. As soon as you walk in you're bombarded with awesome fresh produce. Such fun new fruits and veggies I've never heard of. Now I don't know if they only do this on Saturdays but they had samples out of everything!! Even the fresh fruit they cut up to try was delicious, Chinese pears and persimmons to taste. Bitter winter melon on sale and enoki mushrooms! Such fun finds to get and make new recipes with. The meat section is worthy of an award. Everything I mean everythingggg is packaged so beautifully. The chicken breast is cut into thin slices and cleaned so nicely, it's worth the price for sure. Also all the fresh fish you can want. Then all the packaged ramen, rice cakes, and noodles. It's amazing, you can go and get lost in these aisles all day. Oh and the bakery! My god, the fresh mochi is to die for. They also have a great freezer section with prepared noodles, gyoza, dumplings, dumpling skins, everything you can think of! What's also awesome about this market is that on the side they have about 5 small restaurants. You go up to order your food and there's a few tables to sit and eat. It's probably a good idea to do that because if you don't you'll end up buying everything out of hunger like I did. I definitely recommend the mochi and the sweet potato noodles they prepare with veggies. It's about 6 bucks for the package and it's enough for 3 meals. I really enjoyed the experience of shopping at H Mart (Paramus). I have been to several other locations. This location is smaller than Fort Lee, but it works for me. They have several vegetables that I cook vegan meals with. I use the burdock root in place of meat. I make various alkaline dishes with burdock, oyster mushrooms, and various vegetables, and fruits. I also love their young coconuts here, which I make fresh coconut/ mango drinks for my home. Very grateful for the experience here, the staff are very nice, and friendly which is a huge plus. read more

Aesthetics in supermarket chains is a curious thing. They reflect unique cultures and marketing; from the mundane to the exquisite. Northern NJ is flush with 'em including Wegmans, Fairway, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Shoprite, Stop and Shop, Corrados, Uncle Giuseppe's and any number of Giant "farmers markets." All have an ethnic flavor -- most many such flavors. Hanareum -- known today as H-Mart is the quintessential Korean supermarket -- eclipsing Mitsuwa in Edgewater as my go-to destination for all manner of Asian and Asian inspired foods and ingredients. The aesthetics at this newest H-Mart tends towards the obsessive and the eclectic, and that's just fine by me. Fully half of the 60+ "H" locations are bunched in Korean population centers in NY/NJ and Southern California, with heavy concentrations in Queens and northern Jersey. The H marketing style is clean, precise and unmistakably Korean; from the abundance of ethnic produce like Korean pears by the box to a blizzard of marinated, desiccated and seasoned meats and seafoods. If you have eaten Korean, visited there or know something about the culture, there is no mistaking the premise of this store. Produce is painstakingly stacked, polished and labeled -- meat cuts for Korean bbq are sliced razor thin and fanned out under plastic wrap in pleasing geometric patterns -- even whole fish and other seafood is arranged by size and aligned to one another like soldiers in formation. If you have any perfectionist tendencies, this market will suit your need for feeling right with the world, and you can even get your fresh uni (from Santa Barbara) and an exotic wild mushroom fix here, if that's your fancy. While not the largest of its regional siblings (Little Ferry is much larger as is the Ft. Lee store) and the aisles are tight, it is the most "put together" and modern I've been to and boasts a mini food court, coffee and dessert section for the weary shopper. We tried both this trip (partly because Yelp hosted an OYE here). The variety is satisfying but generic -- as in fast food. Kind of like what you find in Mitsuwa, just fewer choices. I like the sense of order here, the logic, the variety and the convenience of course; now just a 15 minute hop for me, whenever the mood or need strikes. Most importantly, none of the other regional competitors have as complete a Korean/Asian stock. If that matters to you, this is the obvious choice. Oh and yes, pricing is good on lots of stuff, especially seafood and produce. Welcome to the neighborhood H. Top Tip: Getting here can be a bit confusing. If you know how to access the Paramus BJ's than this location is in the adjacent strip mall, alongside a shared entrance. Just remember that you have to approach from Route 17 North, at or near the Russell Avenue exit. Or just use Waze. read more

Will go again - Hmart @ Paramus is very convenient for those that live towards the area or further west from the Hmarts @ Ft. Lee or Ridgefield. Although they're smaller and narrow due to real estate, the essentials seem to be there for the most part. Your Kingredients can be found for your favorite Kfood recipes. They have a food court with many Korean foods for those seeking it. For non-Koreans, this is definitely a good spot to check out if you're interested in a beginner's taste of Kfood. Then, once you are a "certain level", venture out to Palisades Park and Fort Lee for authentic Kfood. NYC's Ktown is good but not as good. The interior is narrow and tight given the layout of trying to offer similar to the larger Hmarts in other areas. It is not comfortable for these COVID times but what can you do when you need to Kshop lol. The parking lot is shared with other stores so you definitely shouldn't have problems. read more

Omg this Hmart had food cafes inside. We were hungry last night (Thursday, 2/20) and needed some groceries so we were able to order/eat while shop for groceries. But because we finally finish eating and shopped around, we missed the cut off time of the bakery, Tous Les Jours (closed at 8:30pm and we got to their section at 8:37pm). We were hoping to buy a small cake (saw cakes in the display fridge) but they were closed Everything was nice and clean. I was impressed because we needed groceries on our way to our airb&b in vermont. We drove from NYC into NJ and going to Vermont but would reach our place after 11pm, so we needed dinner and groceries. This fit the bill as I was reluctantly going to grab fast food for dinner and was soooo happy to have korean dinner. We got some groceries from the BJ in the plaza and then Hmart for Asian groceries. Very nice. Hot food was quick, fresh and delish. Groceries was fresh produces and great Korean products. The only issue I wish they could fix was the country style kimichi, I wish they had kimchi without shrimp (I have a shrimp allergy). I love going through ethnic food markets! Ethnic food markets are a symbol of cultural strength and heritage. I personally grew up w/ many visits to Patel Brothers (Indian Speciality Market) that I know the value Hmart holds to the Asian population. I'm glad they opened a store here in Paramus. I'm vegetarian, so the whole seafood/meat section of the store was just too creepy for me; I strayed away. I know seafood is a big deal for them but there's a GIANT crab in a small tank which I saw from afar and that was enough for me. Their produce section is very neat and filled with an amazing selection of veggies and fruits. I saw some fruits I've never heard of but was excited that Hmart sells them! The cookies selection (important stuff) was also amazing - there was such a great assortment of Korean snacks that's worth exploring. Healthcare aisle was equally fascinating - I'm planning on do a little research on the products and then picking up some face masks and shampoos later. I visited Hmart because of a Local Yelp Elite Event that was showcasing their Market Eatery foods. Visiting Hmart was on my to do list because my cousin bought a case from Te Jours for his son's birthday few months ago and it was phenomenal!!! Their cake was so delicious, soft, light, and rich all at the same time. I can't wait to get a cake from there again - probably for my mom's upcoming birthday. Market Eatery has a plethora of choices for your Asian food craving fix - from chicken, to soups, poke bowls and dumplings! My personal favorite is Big Bowl Little Plates!! Have been wanting to try this place for a while so finally took the plunge. I wasn't sure what to expect after reading other reviews but what I didn't come prepared for were the subzero temps. It can definitely get chilly in the freezer and cold sections of any standard grocery store but man was this place freezing. And no where to warm up. Nice selection of fruits and veggies when you first enter. Prices comparable to supermarkets in our area. To the right you will find an area to grab a quick bite of Korean specialties. I was there too early to take a peak around as they were still getting set up for the day and prepping for the lunch crowd. Continue on the outskirts they have all the specialties you expect from this store. I was very impressed with their pickled veg selection and meat selection. I didn't have time to explore each and every meat nor was dressed appropriately so I'll definitely be back and better equipped. I did however stop to admire the pork bellies and was in awe. Too many varieties I was almost overwhelmed but got a good thick cut which is always a fav. Seafood oh my. I haven't been to other H Marts but I was extremely impressed by all the fresh fish, frozen fish, fish parts and their offerings of sushi grade cuts. I grabbed a salmon. The amount of different varieties of shrimp was over the moon exciting. Everytime I've visited produce, fruit and meat looked fresh and the place clean. There is a "smell" but you kind of get used to it . Frozen and live seafood if you buy live keep in mind how you'll get it home , they dont have option to steam for example. Aisles are tight so prepare if you go during a busy time. They have a food court and a breakfast coffee shop inside. My opinion they have anything you can think of from cleaning products to dessert. Be prepared to spend spend spend. Some prices are overdone and you'll be sure to pay better at "regular" grocery store or Walmart etc. But I don't come here for bargains I come for items I can't find in regular stores and I love trying new Asian foods and spices and my old favorites. Well-run newer Hmart location that has all of the fixings of a typical Hmart with friendly staff. The shelves are always well stocked and prices are pretty reasonable. Every week there seems to be a new highlighted sale for meat, fish, produce, and dry goods. In terms of Covid, there is a station prior to entering that offers disposable plastic gloves, spray, and wipes to get you all set up for your shopping. Lines to check out can get pretty long and wrap around towards the freezer aisle, but is directly pretty efficiently and moves quickly. There is also an option to sign up for free for an Hmart card that offers a few additional perks and sales however, I have not done that just yet and still tap into a lot of their weekly options. Aside from common supermarket goods, you can also find chopsticks, pans, pots, and other household goods at this location! read more

First of all - beyond clean. This place makes ShopRite seem like a toilet. They make you and provide you with gloves when you first enter. Don't even think about wearing a face mask under your nose. Won't work here. Want to grab the cart from the person who just walked out? Won't work here - it needs to be disinfected first and the guy doing the disinfecting will yell at you if you try to take a used one. The staff, not only are they all wearing a face mask, but they all have the plastic shield/ helmet thingy over their entire face. The food - tons of organic and wild. I can spend hours here. Produce alone is amazing and really quite inexpensive. I purchased about a lb of sushi grade tuna for dirt cheap. It was delicious. I find myself coming here at least once a week. read more

I was nicely surprised thinking it was only Asian only groceries - and it's quite well packed with those items - but the meat and the fresh fish departments are very good - the best of any grocery stores around and reasonably priced. To be sure lots of the Asian type fish and meat cuts / including a huge Korean BBQ meat area with marinated specialties - but there are lots of standard cuts and chicken, lamb, etc. Among the groceries are the exotic Asian things. There is a pastry shop there with very good selections - very nicely done. Even some factory made thjngs too but far and away better than the typical factory thjngs in non Asian stores.
