just left the location your deli employees need some customer service training never seen such miserable people especially the heavy set lady I waited 20 minutes for a pound of turkey & you weren't busy the one kid waited on one customer who bought 3 items while the lady just let me wait there I guess they can't do two things at once . Lady working in the beer section currently at 8 pm today 08/26 gave me a hard time checking out. Held a guys $100 order while he shopped. I had one thing and gave me a poor attitude and said I had to wait. Said I could not get cash back or put my phone number in. Laughed in my face when I asked why I was given a hard time for one item. This acme is well stocked and staff is friendly. The size of the store is not too big- you can shop without feeling overwhelmed. This management tries to keep up with popular items like organic produce and products. I wish they would be stricter and go back to COVID protocols and mandate masks. It seems like the same thing is happening across the country, everyone is in denial about COVID now when it is ever more contagious and dangerous. read more

Don't use the pickup at ACME service. They add about 15-25% to the cost and you can pick the time you can go and get. (In theory) I set it up for 11:00-12:00 am today. They rescheduled it too many times to count and now it will be ready tomorrow at 3-4 PM. (Its a reschedule tomorrow again again.) If you call them, they will give you that's not us, but the company that does it could be controlled better by ACME, but neither of them cares.(except that they both will get their money of course) If you go on site at ACME they have better selection than the alternatives down here, so it got them a low 2 Stars... Mr Robinson and Crawford, (Founders of ACME) would have the bunch of the higher ups fired. These guys just get bonuses while both companies reach into your pockets... So let's put numbers on the cost: You need a large order, my last one was 350.00+++, and this one may be for 200.00 and for that you get 150-170 dollars of food and Mr Instacart and ACME takes 30-50 dollars from what you would be charged at WalMart, ShopRite or Amazon... (and for your efforts, you are inconvenienced and told, not us, it's all InstaCart problem, go fix it your self) CoVid 19 is one thing, being taken advantage of is inexcusable. I've been to every supermarket in the area (except Aldi) and this is one of my favorites and most well stocked supermarket. Off the beaten track from the tourists. On route to the ferry. 4 star for the area. When I'm here I feel like I'm shopping at a grocery store up north. Fresh produce, good section for gluten free and organic products, fresh Pet refrigerator, large bakery department, decent deli (no boars head or thumans), fish department and several aisles of frozen foods. The meat department isn't the greatest. Everyone was very nice and helpful, however they could use more cashiers and an express line. We stock up here for the week when we visit Cape May every summer. Prices are same as--or less than--back home. They don't take advantage of tourists. Just the right size, too, so you can find things easily. They have nice hoagies made up if you want a quick lunch for a reasonable price. They also let you use their parking lot for a nominal fee if you want to leave your car there while you browse around town. Of course, there's no fee to park if you're getting groceries. Just have your receipt stamped. read more

The meat dept in this store is the best. They always have a good selection on hand and will go out of their way to bring in what you need if they don't. This morning I called and spoke with Chris. I told him that I wanted some veal shanks tomorrow and didn't see any in the store last night. He spoke to "the boss man" (lol-how he referred to him) while I waited and told me that they would have then there in the morning. It did mean they were going to order more than the store needed but he said they want to make their customers happy. So hats off to a store and their employees who still offer great customer service and high quality meat. read more

This ACME is the slowest, most understaffed food market in the United States East Coast. I've celebrated two birthdays while waiting in line at the Deli. Their help is so slow and painful to watch. They raise their prices in July/August to gouge the Tourists. If you have nothing better to do on your day off, you must experience how slow this place is. Deli is filthy. Moldy tiles on the ceiling. I had water drip on my head. If they are busy, they don't clean the slicers, Yuk! piles of old meat all over and very little hand hygiene is practiced. Where is the manager? read more

Gene working liquor department is extremely rude and a terrible employee. He makes me drive all the way to shop rite in rio grande because of his AWFUL customer service. Not helpful, not accommodating, not a nice person. If I were acme, I would take him off the team. read more

Tonight I went up to the checker, and having only two items, I asked for no plastic bag. The checker rudely responded, Well you already got one! Because he had already oh my items in a bag. The staff here is amazing especially on the front end. The cashiers are very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Fast service and impeccable customer service. The managers are amazing always willing to help fellow employees and customers with anything they need. Shelves are always full or if not they are being worked on. The best place to shop in the area. Staff was incredibly unhelpful. Produce and meat departments leave much to be desired. Purchased almost $600 of groceries and wasn't offered any assistance out, which left me maneuvering two carts to my car. Additionally, I brought my own reusable bags and got attitude from the girl who bagged my purchase. Looks like I'll be searching for another grocery store. It's Acme so you pretty much get a good variety of foods and since it's NJ, you can purchase alcohol. Here's the problem - the checkers are under 18 so cannot check you out if you want to purchase alcohol! So you have to check out with your non-alcohol items then get a Supervisor to check you out with your beer. Um, it's the beach so don't stock alcohol if your checkers are too young to sell it to you. Who is doing the staff scheduling there? And while I"m on it - the deli counter needs some attention too. How about actually using the numbering system and NOT shave the lunch meat so when you get it home, it's basically shredded meat. There are too many Acme's with much better service t the beach so this one is off my list. read more

I don't know who runs the store all I know is I went in for a salad around 8 o'clock on a Sunday night they have a huge salad bar and four things were either empty or flat out bad! The Romain lettuce was black and melting in the pan the spring mix had next to nothing in it and what was their had rot all over it. The cabbage and carrot mix was out there was one more item that I couldn't tell what it was that Was empty! The condition of the salad bar was dirty with food particles all over it. The pepper was out no salt no soups! When I asked to speak to a manager I showed him the Romaine that was black and literally melting and I asked him if he would eat it and he started to say it was OK. When I asked him who's responsible for the salad bar he said we put the stuff out in the morning and that was his answer, a half hearted apology followed afterwards! What can you expect from a 22-year-old kid who probably has a hard time managing his own life let alone the store! I will never go there again the quality of the salad bar is horrific! Whoever manages the store needs to start doing their job! Horrible do not buy the salad bar at the Acme! I spent $10 and waited 10 minutes for fresh lettuce is to be put out,I feel like I got ripped off. Someone needs to call the health department and have them look at this array of food that is rotting and still serve to the public! read more

Large selection of products at a decent value in a location is easily accessible to a variety of other shops. The staff leaves something to be desired but that tends to be the way things are around here in general so I suppose it should not be considered all that surprising. Sometimes when the crowds peak the lines take forever to get through but overall not a bad place for groceries. read more
