We needed to stop into a business that had a public restroom. The Dollar General down the road claimed ghat both restrooms were out of order. While hubby was in mens room, I walked around looking for something to buy. The store was clean but it was not glitzy or glamorous looking. I must say that the floral department was stunning and I took several photos to capture the beauty. I proceeded to walk through the store to find a bargain and I could not find one, even in the area of discounted Valentine's Day candy. The store had a good amount of people shopping so I suppose people in the area have money to pay the high prices. The store had self checkouts that were being used. The store is old but pretty well kept. They have a decent produce selection and the bakery is okay. They are currently doing some remodeling so some things are moved around. They have self checkouts so I've never had any experience with the service. The only complaint I've ever had with Acme is the prices. They sell primarily their own store brand generic products but at a ridiculously high price. If you want a quieter shopping environment and don't mind paying higher prices, then this is a great spot. read more

I usually go to ShopRite instead, however, I was getting a flu shot at CVS and thought all right. I'll give them another shot. I was overcharged on a case of water. It did not match the price that was advertised on the shelf. I didn't bother to protest because I'm short on time, and really need to get home. However, this store is a total a******. Saved 45% on my total spending! These reviews are way too harsh. I downloaded the app, registered and clipped the digital coupons. I'm fine with substituting for products on sale of which there is plenty to choose from on sale. The produce is fresh. Today is Tuesday, so I get the 5% senior (over 60) discount. All I needed to do was mention it at the register. By the way this person was very pleasant. ACME Markets - Today is May 17th, pulled this gem off the shelf 5 minutes ago - Grocery Near Me - Sussex, New Jersey

Honestly, the grocery store that was here before this, A&P, was so much better in terms of stocking. They weren't changing up their aisle set up every other week (or at least it seems), they had a better selection, and the shelves were normally at least filled with three items of product and faced. Not here, though. Here you have to dig to get what you want, if there's even anything on the shelf at all. I get it, stocking is hard... except it's not. Having been a retail stocker for over six years, it really isn't that difficult to make sure products are in their proper homes and to, as the very least, face the aisle so it looks nice and full. And the employees; they're honestly the least attentive people. Yeah, there's a couple people who are good and will say hello and ask how you are, but everyone else is wandering about on their phone or too engrossed into their own conversations. When I approach a register, I do kind of expect at least a hello; even if it is just that. It's a shame, since it's (currently) the only grocery game in the town. Anything else is a minimum of 15 minutes away. They could have so much if they'd just have a bigger eye of attention. read more

For being the only supermarket close by to a lot of people, they sure lack quality and quantity. Almost every time I have to go there the produce is moldy and spoiled. I can never find at least 3-4 items on my list...as simple as fresh (not bagged) salad. You have to be really careful when going to the ONE CASHIER that is ever open, because they ring up produce wrong. IE: I got one green cabbage and one red cabbage and they rang it up as iceberg lettuce and Radicchio (which they don't even carry). So my tiny red cabbage was 6$. Make sure to check meats thoroughly before cooking, as I've gotten slimy red meat that is grey on the bottom. Also check the corn, which means a bit of a mess because they don't have an option to shuck it in the store. I bought 5 ears and all 5 were bad. read more

The 5 stars is specifically for Megan at the customer service desk. I purchased an $18 flower arrangement on 1/31/20, and when I unwrapped them later at home, the stems in the center of the arrangement were encased in mold and smelled bad. I was only able to salvage a few flowers, I had to throw the majority away. I was disappointed by this but when I returned to the store on 1/3/22, Megan was very understanding and immediately gave me a refund. Normally it is difficult to get assistance in this location (I have experienced employees pretending not to notice me when I have needed help) so it is refreshing to see someone proactive and kind, who can resolve an issue with ease. This area so desperately needs an alternative supermarket, as I think it's the only way this store will up its game. Like every ACME market I've been in, almost everything is incredibly overpriced. So I just recently moved here from Lyndhurst which is about 10 minutes away from Manhattan. This was one of the first places in town I had stopped and made me fall in love with this area. Maybe people from here are jaded but this is the first place I've ever been on my life (besides the south) that the employees were friendly, said hi and asked how I was, one person even offered me a Tylenol one day when I looked like I had a headache. They always help me find things and I mean I've never bought seafood in my life but everything else seems pretty fresh. Maybe if it's not up to your standards people go take a field trip out to suburban areas and trust me you'll come running back! Also maybe try bringing up the issues of the shelves and expired items with the manager they might be unaware. read more

This location gets 2 stars for many reasons. The store looks disheveled, the staff looked unkept and unprofessional. I went there yesterday with some coupons, and the cashier made me feel like a criminal by the time I was done. The most important reason to me on the lack of stars is their seafood section smells like bad fish, and when I could stomach the smell I inspected the fish on display and they had clouded eyes. My uncle was a commercial fisherman all his life, and always told me fresh seafood does not smell fishy and have clear eyes. I also find their prices to be a bit more expensive/ read more
