You will not regret using ACME... they were recommended on NextDoor by several people. Doug came out, gave us an estimate and it was pretty much what i expected. What i didn't know was the level of professionalism and care that they provide. 2 packers showed up the day before move, spent much less time than i expected and got everything ready to go. I was 'around' but not really watching but they were fast and so careful. Day of the move, they showed up right on time with a HUGE truck, 3 guys and they were packed and gone by early afternoon. Delivery was smooth, they were very careful with everything IN the truck as well as in the new house. There wasn't a wall nicked or scratched. They covered the OFF WHITE carpet with blankets so there were no tire marks from dollies. SO careful and mindful. When i unpacked... there was ONE, small glass kitchen baking pan that was broken. That's ALL... out of the gazillion boxes of breakables... one, 4x4 glass pan. Even my delicate things that i meant to hand carry but forgot before they packed them, made it safe and sound. Not a picture glass, lamp or multiple large mirrors... not one thing was broken or scratched. AND, on top of that, the estimate was higher than the actual cost... name ONE mover that does that? And with gas at well over $6 a gallon. I can not say enough good about this company. Everyone from Doug on down the list was so friendly, and careful and efficient. They are GEMS and well trained professionals. Moving is stressful and when all you 'stuff' drives away in a big semi, you heart and mind are on edge until you see it again. On signing the moving contract, Doug, the salesman said they would send 3 professional movers. On moving day they sent 2 movers, one was seemed to know what he was doing, the other was an 18 year old kid with little experience. During the move I asked the older mover to please dismount the glass doors on an inexpensive display cabinet. He assured me it would ship with the doors attached with no problem. Both doors were destroyed. It cost me $950 to replace them. After many attempt yo deal with Jose in thier "claims" department, Acme Moving offered me total compensation of $45 based on a "50 cents per pound" clause in the contract. I would go along if I had not asked them to ship the doors separately. A couple other miscellaneous items were broken and I was disappointed in the level of employees they sent. Easy move, great Service!! I called Acme Moving last minute (needed to rush move) and they were able to schedule my move for same day service. The movers were friendly and fast. I had a 10' x 10' storage unit (packed front front to back and all the way up to the top); movers unloaded the storage and unloaded to my house in just a few hours (this was a local move). Used ACME to move our entire household, including golf cart, from Sun City to Carlsbad in September of 2020 and were very happy with every stage of the move. To begin with, Maurice met us at our home in Palm Desert before the move, and told us exactly what to expect during the entire move. I was nervous at first because we had so much stuff and was told they would have to keep our items in their truck overnight (because how long it would take to load, drive, then unload, and then drive back). It turned out everything went extremely well with absolutely no drama. Really the entire process was just as smooth as silk. The crew (J.J., Jesus, Daniel, and Carlos) showed up in Palm Desert exactly as scheduled, performed their duties as Maurice told me they would, and then left for Carlsbad. The next day the same crew showed up at our new Carlsbad home exactly as scheduled, were extremely professional, and unloaded everything. They placed everything exactly as directed (and were always very nice and respectful when performing their duties). They even finished early with absolutely nothing broken or missing! It seems as though folks are quick to complain but slow to compliment -- thus I am writing to give a "GOLD STAR" to Acme Moving & Storage concerning our recent move. The first (very pleasant) surprise was a phone call response to my email inquiry -- on a SUNDAY evening, no less!!! WOW! Every step of the way it was a terrific experience. Doug (in the office) was great to work with. He was cordial and agreeable and was able to give us the exact moving date we needed as well as a little later start time (even though it was probably not as convenient for them). The estimate he gave me was within a few dollars of the actual bill based on the number of hours the men worked. No surprise "up-charges"!!! The actual moving crew was FABULOUS (and we are pretty darn fussy)! They were courteous and respectful, friendly, efficient and hard-working. This was not an easy move but we never heard a complaint or grumble the whole day. I have no qualms about highly recommending Acme Moving & Storage. read more

I have moved 15 times in my life, and this company is, by a wide margin, the worst moving company I have ever dealt with. It started with the packers. Although we did not opt to buy the moving supplies from them, at a cost of approximately $950, they started using their own supplies anyway, until I caught them. Later, after after the move was in progress, the company rep told us he wanted us to pay for the supplies!....deplorable!!!. So off our possessions went, and off we went to Chicago from Palm Springs. After a week on the road, we arrived in Chicago, where we waited, and waited, and waited for our possessions to arrive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Although they originally told us it would take three weeks, they later qualified that, and said they meant 21 business days.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I spoke with the company sales rep, Doug, he told me he didn't know where our stuff was, and he would call us back....Really??[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When he did call me he said out possessions were sitting in Los Angeles, where they have been sitting since moving day. At that time he also told us that since we were moving into a city building with a narrow alleyway/loading dock, it would be an extra $500, (we made special arrangements for them to park on the street, so we never paid this). "Moving" on, finally our truck left LA, headed for Chicago, and still they couldn't tell us when it would arrive. On the very last day of the 21 business day window, with one days notice, our possessions finally arrived. Now for the really bad part. As we started unpacking, we found many broken items, big and small. At last count, we discovered twelve damaged items. We opted to not buy their "extra" insurance for $500, so we were to get only 60 cents per pound for broken items. As an aside, I caught one of the movers trying to hide a large item that was absolutely crushed....disgraceful! He then turned around and had the gall to ask for a tip. Topping this all off, our claim for the 60 cents per pound of broken items was turned down because they said they didn't pack the items.....LOL....Really?, so what did we pay those packers for, and why were we charged for boxes we didn't ask for? These are just the highlights of our negative experience....there are more. but you get the idea. From other negative reviews I have seen on Better Business Bureau, and Yelp, the norm for these guys is to respond by customer blaming. Don't fall for it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Never once did they ever say they were sorry for any of this.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This is a horrible company imo, and I would certainly never hire again. read more

I inquired about their moving services via yelp and the person I spoke to was very helpful, set up a 7am time. When I confirmed the night before, he told me 7am would be too early because they needed to wait a certain amount of time afer ending a job, and they were working late that night. So, he pushed it back to 10:30am. All was fine when the 3 guys showed up and got everything into their truck after 90min of work. Then, they said they needed to take a lunch break. Ummm. Ok. He stated it was the law to take a break after so many hours of work, which implied they had another job before us. So, they pushed our scheduled 7am appointment back so that they could move someone else?!?! Not cool. An hour later, they returned and finished the job. Nevermind that they deliberately worked slowly because they were getting paid by the hour. They only listed their lunch break as a half an hour and added driving time (which no one ever mentioned they'd do). They did the job reasonably well but some little bloopers along the way. Who takes a lunch break in the middle of a moving job, then makes them wait an hour? read more
