Acme was a third party contractor for Tesla solars. They were asked to come, move titles and make space for Tesla workers to replace the solar panels. Once the solar panels were repaired, Putting the roof back was a task for Acme and they completely botched it up. I had water stains on the roof after the first rain. Called them again and they just moved tiles around and we ended up with a water leak in another area. Will not recommend ACME to anyone. They don't know what they are doing. read more

We are having a solar system installed soon, however we were told we needed a new roof first. ACME came out and in a matter of an hour or so did a complete tear-off. They left almost no trace behind. The crew was very respectful and greeted me before starting the job (It's nice to speak Spanish ;). The roof was installed within the nex few days as planned. We had a full roof replacement (from cedar to composite). Acme needed to complete a full plywood sheath before the new shingles were added. They replaced all the vents. They also provided new gutter guards throughout. The price was very fair compared to competitor bids. Everyone on the team was pleasant and easy to work with. They provided shingle samples in advance so we could make an informed choice. Martin answered my questions promptly and, when I identified a small problem, got it fixed the same day. I'm writing an edit to my April review and going from 5 stars to 1 star. After my solar panels were installed in March, I decided to install a whole house fan. Prior to installation, I needed air vents installed. A roofer installed the air vents and notified me that over 60 of my concrete tiles were cracked. I notified Acme Roofing of the broken tiles and was told that I signed off on the work. I sent pictures of the work they had sent in April with the cracked tiles. Attached are all the 80 tiles that needed replacing stacked in piles and the foto that was sent to me from Acme in April Lesson learned - go up on the roof and inspect for yourself. read more

The folks at ACME roofing are the best. The county sent us a notice that our permit had expired and the final inspection wasn't completed... except IT WAS. Felt like I was in an alternate timeline or something. A quick email off to Hector and Jay and they sorted it out ASAP with the county. Turns out a duplicate permit had been issued and due to a clerical error on the county's side, it was never closed out. The actual permit was all in order and had indeed been signed-off on and filed correctly. Jay and the whole crew are impeccable examples of professionalism and exactitude. Additionally, the record-breaking severe weather we've had over the last 6 months is further evidence that their product and installation is second to none. Our roof has weathered this series of rains and winds without incident and shows no signs of giving out. I can't recommend ACME enough! Top notch! read more

Hired this company to redo the roof so we could put in the Tesla Solar panel and this company was on the list Tesla gave us to contact. This is a very long story so instead of writing down a long boring story, I'll just briefly write down what I felt about the entire job. They were fast in removing the old roof, and took bit of few days to put in the new roof which that is totally acceptable. After everything was done, the ground was totally messy and they didn't clean anything up on a daily basis. They just left crap all over the ground and barely picked up big pieces. Large pieces on top of my succulents, my veggie garden in the back, on top of the awning.. So, I called the project manager, Martin. He was not very pleasant to deal with and sounded like he didn't have the patient or the day to hear my story. Basically said, "I said I was gonna send someone out to clean it up. Is there anything else?" After someone came, still was messy, so we ended up going out there ourselves, and swept stuff away from our porch and around the house. Few things didn't get done or did a really bad job. Called Martin again and he told me he can't give me a timeline as to when they can come back out to install the flashing they ripped out and didn't replace. He said he was gonna go into the office and call me and let me know. Nope. I called back and he basically said, we just don't have the time, we are looking at 2 months out, but trying to squeeze you in, and "I don't want to promise you a day and end up not coming out." Fair. However, this needed to get done and I felt as if when we first started the project, they were really eager and said they could come out and do it in 3 days. Now that we need them to come back and finish what they started, they have no time?? I called the office and spoke with a really nice woman named Bernice, who answered the phone and she fixed everything. She said she would tell Hector, who was Martin's supervisor and will get this right and indeed, she made it happen and within a week period, Hector himself came out and made sure he finished everything. He even went beyond and purchased and painted the flashing that was a metal color with matching house paint. Martin did not inform me of the permit getting finalized at all either and that was just left alone. I felt like if I didn't push for it and ask about it, that was never going to get done. However, of course, after mentioning, Bernice made it happen. At the end of the day, Bernice and Hector saved the day. I wanted to give negative stars if I could about this company and also tell Tesla about taking this company off of their list. However, because Bernice and Hector stepped in, I am giving 3 stars and am not calling Tesla. read more

Acme made it easy. I went with the yelp reviews and called them. Their staff came out, checked my roofs, and gave me a fair price. So I said yes. No money up front, and the work started quickly. I was nervous. 3 roof tops, main house, shop/barn, and pump house. The job was big and took a week. The bottom line is that the roofs are awesome. The permit inspector stated he was impressed. The demo and install teams were impressive. So, if you need a roof don't get nervous, just call them. The Acme team made the project easy. read more

I contacted several roofing companies through Yelp, and Acme was the only one that came back with a quote. Another company thought the job was too small and referred me to a second contractor who proceeded to tell me that he's not comfortable working on a metal roof. That doesn't inspire confidence. In any case, the quote for the job of installing two roof turbine was reasonable and they could start immediately. The front office and scheduler is very nice and prompt. However, I'm going to take one star off for the fact that the installer missed his scheduled window and I had to call the owner to check on the whereabout of the installer. I think if they can fix the scheduling issue or at least contact the customer to let them know they will be late, they would definitely improve their customer service. There was a slight issue with one of the turbine that I discovered was dented and was spinning wobbly, thus made noise when it spun. The installer should've noticed that and inform me if I want it fixed. I only discovered this after the fact when I checked on it after hearing noise. This is not the fault of the company but more a reflection of the lack of attention of detail from the worker. To their credit, when I contacted them, it was promptly rectified. I appreciate the prompt response and quick action to fix the issue. In the future, proactive action to ensure the job is perfect would endear a lot of goodwill from the customer. Nevertheless, I did not put this against them because not every install is perfect and stuff happens, but the response to issue is what counts. They did a great job rectifying the issue so I commend them on this. Until there's rain, it will be difficult to check for leaks but I assume there won't be any problem. I will update this review if there's any issue. I think Acme is a five star roofing company as long as they fix a few attention to detail issues. I would definitely use them again if I need repairs or modifications to my roof. read more

This past summer, I had solar panels installed on my roof and the company gave me the option between two roofing companies to install them. I chose Acme based on price and customer reviews. When Acme completed the work, I went up to the roof and inspected it. I noticed that Acme had damaged a lot of my tiles during the installation. I contacted the solar panel company to mediate. They told Acme to go back and replace the broken tiles and repair the damage they caused to the roof. Acme came back and said they fixed the roof, but all they did was do the sloppiest patch job I have ever seen (I've attached the pictures). They did not replace the tiles and just slapped some caulk to try to piece the broken tiles together. Some damaged parts of the roof looked like they hadn't even tried to fix them. I told them this is unacceptable and Acme had to replace the tiles and install them properly. I finally had to contact Acme directly. They said they would send someone to assess the roof. So... for the third time, Acme came out, said this was not a reflection of the quality of their work, and they assured me they would get back to me with next steps. A month went by and I emailed them saying I hadn't heard from them. I haven't received any response from Acme since then. I'm extremely disappointed with this whole thing. Acme kept promising they will fix my roof, did a terrible patch job when they should have replaced my tiles, and then gave me the run around for almost 5 months now, and my roof still isn't repaired. I tried to give them every opportunity to fix this but they are just being extremely unprofessional about this whole situation. I would never recommend this company to anyone. read more

Thank you, Hector and Acme Roofing Services for a great job in Half Moon Bay. Acme was selected by our Solar installer to lay compound roofing where we had existing tile. Acme removed tile, installed compound, and then returned after the solar installation to backfill the old tile. Acme replaced tiles broken during solar install, added metal flashing (preventing rodents or birds from nesting under panels, provided additional tile, washed down dust from panels, painted our bare chimney cover, and cleaned up--all within the cost of their original quote. Acme worked well with us and with the solar installers. They did what they said they would (and more) and responded when they said they would. Plus... roof looks great! Solar installers said they work with a lot of roofing companies and that our did a great job. read more

We discovered Acme Roofing Services through working with TESLA Solar. We are getting solar installed and asked Tesla if they knew of any experienced roofing companies that could help us. We needed a new roof prior to getting our solar. Acme reached out to us right away. They used the information that Tesla provided them about our roof and house. Within two days we signed a contract with them. We agreed on a color, texture of the shingle and even had them replace our gutters. A little about our home. It is a 130 year old Victorian. Which means very steep angles (40 degrees), many peaks and valleys. Also there were a few vents that were no longer in use. Which needed to be removed and sealed. Work started on time on the date they said they would be there. Removing the old roof is always very messy. This process was complicated that day by 40 mph winds. The employees of ACME, took it in stride. After the old roof was removed the crew went through the property and landscaping picking up all the old pieces of shingles. They even used a rolling magnet to pick up stray nails and staples. By the end of the first day. The old roof was gone and the basic foundation of the new roof was in place. Day 2, new roof and gutters are going into place. Day 3, was really a half day. Finishing the new roof adding attic vents, new ridge line, and screens for the new gutters. All in all everyone from the crew was polite, professional, and very efficient. We were extremely happy with the work ethic of ACME Roofing Services. Hector Lopez who coordinated our roof installation was always a phone call away. On the last day Hector came to our house to do the final walk through. I would highly recommend ACME Roofing Services to my neighbors or anyone who may need a new roof. read more

Acme put a new metal roof on my home last year. It was a difficult job on a very steep roof on some really hot days. While everything was not entirely to our satisfaction at first, Hector (the owner), worked through it with us to make sure all of our issues were resolved. He even helped us get in touch with the material manufacturer when we had installation and warranty questions. No one else could get a hold of them. While there were moments of frustration, I appreciated that Hector was always willing to talk things through and find a solution. During our roofing journey, several friends and family members also had roof work done by other companies. They all had issues as well, but the companies they picked did not make things right in the same way. There are a lot of things that can go wrong in roofing, but there aren't many owners like Hector. read more

This review is a bit dated, but I wanted to make sure that I took the time to fill in the blanks for people who are looking for a roofing team. TL;DR - highly recommend This is an excerpt of what I sent Tesla as I was getting the roofing re-done in order to get solar panels put up. --- First day of destruction and construction took place. I was able to see some of the work these guys did first-hand and have to say that I'm very pleasantly impressed. They arrived on time, and got started quickly. Everything was lined up - from the demo bin, to the materials and most importantly the people. I took off to take care of some of my own construction (plumbing today) but got back at 330P and didn't see the demo container, and the vast majority of scrap taken care of and removed. When I say vast, I'm talking everything but what I can find that would fill into a single hand! Looking at the work, the main house is pretty much 3/4 done and they're working through the finer details of the flashing and trim. Normally our construction guys call it at 3-330P because of the heat and when they start, but these folks hung out until after 4P policing the site. And I'm used to picking up framing nails, trim from the 30# felt as we use it for siding as well, along with tons of whatever was there in the first place. The electricians love leaving multi-colored bits of wire insulation and caps :) It's usually a messy business, and we have the drywall folks cover up all of our sins. Workmanship is solid. A lot of what gets lost is the prep work so laying down solid underlayment and the flashing matters because though you may not see it, it's the little details that matter (and prevent infiltration of water, and when our inevitable ice dams get created, making sure we have a good rubber underlayment for the first few feet of the roof). I do have to leave and will be back next week - but am glad that I had the chance to see these guys in action on the first day. --- Subsequently I had to go up and put in gutter guards and was able to get a closer look as well. Everything is in the right place, everything is well done. Flashing and attic vents look great, and this roof is solid. Thanks to Hector and the team! read more

I called ACME Roofing Services as we had a couple of leaks in our ceiling and it was in the baby's room. We actually had to move the crib. The leaks started after some heavy rain. I spoke to Hector and he was very professional and quickly scheduled an appointment for the next day. Jorge and Antonio showed up early for the scheduled appointment and they were very friendly and knowledgeable. We have a tri-level home and they used their skill and technique to safely climb up on the third story roof. It turns out that the issue was caused by a tree limb that had been rubbing against the roof. It had loosed one of the ceramic roof tiles. They went ahead and cut off the tree limb and secured the loose tile. We have a complex roof where an addition meets the old house and the garage. So four roofs come together with large skylights right in the middle of the flat section. What a mess. We put a new roof on 15 years ago when TPO roofing was really only used for commercial buildings. So tar and gravel it was. Fast forward 15 years to the last few rain storms the water was streaming through the old roof and into our breaker panel. Lovely. After a few phone calls I got the ACME Roofing phone number as a referral from a contractor. I called and left a voicemail and Hector texted me back right away. Set up a time to walk the roof and figure out the leak and the plan. An accurate estimate was sent. Contract signed. Work started and completed. Beautiful. Hector and his team were fantastic to work with. All phone calls were returned. The estimate was promptly emailed with details. They even brought in other trades (stucco, electrical) to complete the bid and the job. They showed up on time, spend a solid week on the job, and then scheduled a walk-through to confirm we were happy. The TPO roof looks amazing. Resealed skylights. Remove and re-stuccoed the old overhang. tied in nicely w/ all four roofs, and shingles, and worked around the solar panels and conduits. I wish I had other roofing jobs that needed to be done. My roof was 20+ years old and had to reroof for the upcoming raining season. Contacted multiple contractors but only a few of them replied. ACME was the one with the fastest response and had Leo to come over for an estimate. ACME offered a competitive quote and warranty and that's why we went ahead and had them to do the roof replacement for us. The whole process took like two and a half day and the result was absolutely amazing. They spotted and replaced some old dry rot and repainted it with the same color as before. They also painted the stuff on the roof black so it matches our new roof and it looks more clean. They cleaned multiple times throughout the process so it wasn't any mess left behind. I asked for an estimate for roof repair. It advertised free estimate but it's not free because they need to do a roof inspection? I'm not asking for a paper copy of roof inspection. I have a roof leak we have established a issue so we are pass the inspection phase. It's not like Im buying a new property and need a roof inspection? I'm asking for a bid to do a repair but they only give a free estimate if you install a new roof. Please remove the free estimate and save yourself the humiliation.
