During the research process, the Los Gatos office staff was flexible and patient, and not pushy. They answered many questions and then sent their Project Manager, Bret, to check out our existing roof. Bret was THE BEST! Super knowledgable, provided great explanations/examples of different options that would fit w/in our budget, and again, was extremely patient w/ my questions. 2 DAYS! That's how long it took to take off my old roof and replace it w/ a brand new shingle roof! We had a new roof and gutter system installed and there were many color options for both. At the beginning of the process, they covered the pool to limit the amount of dust/debris that would fall into it and provided instructions about how to protect items in the house/garage. My neighbors were impressed at how quickly Bret's team worked. They were efficient, not excessively noisy (no loud radios), and respectful of the hours they worked. At the end of Day 2, the Los Gatos team cleaned up the yard, swept the area around the house, and (I think) even swept inside my garage - it looked cleaner than when they began. Follow-up included a walk around w/ Bret. He showed me pics of the roof and also scheduled the inspection (he handled all the paperwork too)! My wife and I are first time homeowners and I feel like David did a great job addressing all our concerns including all the heavily rotted wood that needed replacing. I chose them for 2 major reasons. 1) they were going to deal with the scheduling of the removal and réinstallation of our solar panels. And 2) Shahar was so kind, informative, and honest during our consultation. He was through and kept us updated every step of the way. As someone who performs a lot of work on my own house, I'm very selective in who works on my home. For starters, our San Jose home was built in 1904 and was years overdue to have a new roof put on. Tony was responsive, thorough, respectful and paid attention to every detail. He explained materials in a way that allowed us to make the best choice. Not only that, they were the most affordable company by far and the work they performed was best-in-class. His family-run company was also the hardest working crew I have ever seen. This was not my experience with some of the other roofing companies who felt rushed or were asking me to cut corners. Next, Rodrigo and Lincon were very communicative on our group chat and kept me apprised of the progress throughout, including tons of photos. Rodrigo was also very proactive in dealing with the city for permits as well as clarifications etc, which happened several times since our city is one of the stricter ones. During all this, we had a running clock since we were in contract to sell the house, but Rodrigo and company kept things in motion, sometimes working late hours to ensure completion on time, which we did with several days to spare. So we got in touch with ELM Roofing and had them come out to do an inspection. Lucas was great. He identified the issue quickly, stepped us through what our options were, and kept us in the loop the entire time. He checked the roof out with a drone, since it was too high to run a single ladder up, and we got to watch the neighbor's resident hummingbirds go nuts trying to threaten it away. Evidently hummingbirds hate drones! We had our entire roof and the garage roof replaced, because the builder had cheaped out on underlayment materials and is a pain to get to fix anything under warranty. So, y'know, forget him, but this isn't a review about him. We've got a much tougher underlayment now, all the chipped tiles we had have been replaced, and it is quite honestly better than new now. They did clean work, too. Didn't mess up the yard at all, they were fastidious about noise levels and allowed work times, everything you'd hope a certified contractor would do (but do they? Well...many don't, believe me). Quick and thorough, and when the project got interrupted by rain, they kept us informed about that, too. They came out on a Saturday to get ahead of the weather and even let us know exactly what the local weekend construction ordinances were ahead of time so we'd know what to expect. I think that's what I'd say about them the most: No surprises. They don't do anything unexpected with the final invoice, they don't jerk you around, they don't treat you like you won't understand what they're doing. You're fully in the loop at all times and you're treated as a partner in the project. You get exactly the work and quality promised. And it's good work, with a 20 year guarantee.
