I experienced a small leak from my skylight during the last major storm so, since it was covered by a 10 year warranty, I reached out for a service call. My house was built in 1910, so it's had more than a few new roofs over its life and was in dire need of a new one. I should have installed a new roof years ago, but life gets in the way. So, my new roof wasn't just about replacing shingles. Due to the amount of wood rot, it needed new plywood, new facia boards, and everything else you can think of when it comes to a roof. It is difficult to get a quote on a new roof, especially one that requires multiple disciplines in roofing, woodworking, and metalworking. I got six quotes, but the only one that gave me confidence that they could do the job was Conrad, and fortunately, I was correct in my assessment. Since I live in Naglee Park, an area of San Jose where homes were built in the early 1900s, the city regards my home as historic. I received a few bids for a new roof on our home. I went with Conrad roofing because their bid was the most competitive and Keith was very knowledgeable and kind about answering all of my questions. The require only a 1K deposit and the rest upon completion. They replaced some termite damaged wood planks and one old gutter fo a reasonable fee. I would highly recommend using this company. The 50 year roof came with a warranty and the company does a 10 year warranty as well. They also pulled the permit and gave me copies of the warranty and permit for my records. Arranged for an estimate from Keith and he showed up on time, but did not want to climb up on the short ladder I used and did not even bring a ladder to look at a two story roof job and said "I am not coming down (to Mountain View) here to do a second story" and quickly left. I use Yelp for restaurants a lot but not the type to leave reviews normally.  However, recently I was looking for a roofing company to replace my aging roof in a single family home.  I called all the usual  suspects with the most 4/5 star ratings and had them come out for bids.  Conrad roofing didn't even show up on my search for "Best rated roofing company in Santa Clara."  Then I remember a friend had their roof replaced like 10 years ago and wasn't sure if they were still in business.  I am so glad my friend recommended Conrad roofing, it's a family owned company that's been in business for decades. Our friend found them on "Check Book" which business did not have to pay unlike Yelp.  Keith was prompt and responded to my emails and calls quickly.  The quote was not the cheapest or the most expensive.  I had questions on different types of vents, underlayment and sky-tunnel and he took care of all my concerns professionally and efficiently.  This is my forever home and I am looking for a roof that lasts.  Due to work from home/ Covid 19, and mandatory meetings from work we had to reschedule the start date and he accommodated without issue.   The crew showed up on time everyday and it took 3.5 days to complete the job since we had some dry rot repair in several areas of the house.  They installed a ridge-vent for us to help cool the house in the summer and just in time for the triple digit weekend.   The only thing is I had some clean up to do in the garage since several of the dry rot was in there and they had to cut and replace the boards.  Other than that, they cleaned up the perimeter and left it in great condition.  I would recommend Conrad Roofing to anyone who is looking to fix a leaky roof or replace an old one.  Thank you Keith and crew! read more

My house needed a new roof. I got some recommendations from friends and also looked on Yelp. Apparently everyone shops for roofs in August, because a lot of places I called either didn't call me back or called me back but setup appointments for a few weeks off. Keith the owner called me back within the day and setup an appointment to come out in the morning to give me a quote. Everything he did was prompt and straight-forward, and he also didn't try to oversell me with installing new gutters or anything extra. I called him back on his cell phone a few days later to ask a question and he was honest and once again told me I didn't need new gutters (which other roofers had recommended, adding at least a thousand bucks to the price!). We scheduled the job and he called me the day before to tell me they could start a day early. Having a roof put on is not really pleasant; it's super noisy and messy. I was pleased they did the job really quickly, showed up when they said they would, and did clean up every day after work. They put a giant dumpster out in front of my house and put all the roof debris in there, and also taped plastic over my garage for easier cleanup. They removed an old shake roof, repaired termite damage, and installed new Solaris shingles. They blocked up places where the old roof let in rodents. I have never bought a roof so I didnt know what to expect. The house is 110 years old with a lumpy roof and although I have spent some quality time in the attic I didnt know what might be found under a layer of old shingles over ancient cedar shakes. Removal company got it off and cleaned up real nice so I got up there to see what sort of horrors I might see. Fortunately not the termites I expected but there were a few rafters out of whack, probably from a badly done addition in the 1930s, and some overhang wood in bad shape. I expected either a major construction job would be needed to fix it, or they would just have to bend the new roof over it somehow to conform. They told me they would do what they could but my expectations were pretty low since anything meaningful would create a lot of extra work. When the OSB was down the hump was at least 80% gone which made me very happy to say the least. Roofing went on with a nice ridge vent and all new vents and flashings. However, once he got up on the roof he starts telling me the design is all wrong, I need to change it, and I'm going to have problems, and he didn't want the job. We needed to add a 50' gutter to the back of the house, a new downspout, and perform a roof tune-up for our wood shake roof. There were some tricky solutions needed for the gutter and downspout, and Keith provided the most reasonable and feasible solution out of all the bids I obtained (about 5). He and his crew performed the work bright and early on a Friday morning and were done within 4 hours. They were clean, professional, and respectful of our property. Conrad Roofing just completed our roof and did a great job. Keith the owner ( 4th Generation ) gave us competitive bid. He didn't try to up-sell on any products. We knew we wanted the Certainteed Presidential TL roof, Ridge vent. We didn't know if we needed new gutters and Keith said they were good, just needed to be tightened up to the rafter tails. He said some rafter tails might need replacing ( which I knew ). Conrad roofing installed the same roof on my parents home in 2010 & my brothers roof in 2014 and both still look as new as my roof and no issues. We all received competitive bids for the size of our roofs. Yes all quotes were different. Now folks, please educate yourself about your home. Don't just ask someone what they paid for their roof, all roofs are not the same ( how many squares you have, do you have Dutch Gables, do you need new roof decking, repairs etc) .
