This review is a couple of weeks late! It includes a follow up to my actual visit to the shop. I…read morewas visiting Poulsbo with my family when we walked into Boehm's to pick up some treats. We ended up buying several treats as this shop was filled with a variety of goodies. I should mention that the temperature was in the low 80s the day we went, so we were especially enticed with the sign displaying something about ice cream :) My son-in-law loves ice cream, so he got their ice cream bar which I believe it hand dipped in chocolate and covered with nuts and toffee. I wanted to bring back some treats from Washington (I'm from California), so I grabbed some bagged candies (white chocolate matcha green tea almonds, Mexican vanilla almonds, huckleberry gummy grizzlies) and a couple of chocolate bars. Side note: we recently lost our dog named Grizzly, so I had to get the grizzly gummies! We also picked out some assorted chocolates at the counter. Our haul paid off because not only did we leave happy, the treats I brought back for my coworkers were a hit. This is where the follow up happens. I was asked about where I got the white chocolate matcha almonds, so we looked it up on their website. They were not listed, so the week before last, I called the shop to inquire about the possibility of ordering more and whether or not they can ship it. I spoke with someone named Kendall who was super helpful. She spoke to the owner and called me back. The answer is yes! They can ship, but the shipping cost would be quite expensive. She let me know that the owner is Karen and I can inquire further when I'm ready (which I'm thinking/hoping will be this fall, before the holidays). Wonderful quality chocolate and candies, and even better customer service.

Finnriver is such a cool place, and after visiting on a Sunday evening on our recent trip to the…read morearea, I can definitely understand why it seems that lots of Chimacum and Port Townsend locals like to hang out here. The place is huge, with lots of seating for groups of all sizes, big open spaces for kids and dogs to run around, and a whole area of the farm where you can stroll and chat while admiring the wide array of plants they grow here. They have ample parking, and thankfully a very intuitive set up for finding food and drinks. They had a pretty good selection of food vendors on a Sunday night, and we ended up getting a banh mi each from Friendly Nettle, and a dozen oysters for me from Moonlight Oysters. Food came out quick, after which we found a seat out near the sunflowers. I really enjoyed my pork banh mi -- it's more of a pork sausage than a grilled pork, but it was really tasty with great bread and stuffed full with pickled shredded veg and cilantro. My dinner buddy found that he wasn't a huge fan of tempeh in a banh mi but still found it a satisfying meal. The oysters were also delicious. They were serving up the Aphrodite variety that night, which were petite shots of mineral-y goodness. After dinner and a stroll through the grounds, we got some delicious vegan ice cream at Fiddlehead creamery. We loved their strawberry flavor and were excited at how all the flavors are vegan here! Keep in mind if you're thinking of visiting Finnriver that even for this area the food vendors close early here (like 7-7:30ish). If you want to eat, make sure you come out on the earlier side!

I always encouraged people to patronize any of the three locations. I bragged on the quality, the quantity, and the deliciousness. After my experience yesterday never again! I have noticed that for the last couple of years the portions have gotten smaller and the prices have gone up. Granted, prices have gone up on everything, not just at this restaurant. So that part is understandable. I'm not mad about that. What I'm extremely frustrated about, i'm actually angry, is that they served me a salad with barely any meat on it. I got the ruben salad last night through the drive up. When she handed me the bag out the window, it literally felt like a feather. When I got home, it was basically all lettuce, a tiny bit of saurkraut, some croutons, my garlic deal dressing, and a very a thin slice of the corned beef or whatever the meat was supposed to be. Literally, they give me a salad with a piece of meat smaller than the length and width of my pinky finger. That bowl of lettuce cost me sixteen dollars plus my tip. Yeah I'm angry about it. It is very rare for me to get angry. Getting home in Kingston, expecting to have an awesome dinner, and having this after I paid that much. Infuriating. I will give them credit for having the nicest crew. They have awesome customer service at the drive up, thus the 2 stars this time. The two stars are for the employees, otherwise this particular experience would be a negative or zero star.

Their salads are freaking GIANORMOUS. Worth every penny. Get them as a wrap add some protein and have 2 meals for the price of one. Just don't tell them if you want to split a salad. For some weird reason they charge extra for that. But other than that one minor thing. If you want a healthy lunch or dinner this is the place.
