It's hard to not leave with warm feelings from a "farm" experience because well, the land is giving gifts, and an encounter with a space that reminds us of the true source--of our own lives--is like a soothing bath we didn't realize we needed. It is a stark contrast from the consumerist drudgery, hyper-stimulation, and quotidian violence of the modern U.S. market-scape which has metastasized like a bad rash over the land. An alternative way of relating to strangers and community members alike, around long wooden tables, listening to local folk performers stirs up a sense of communality from long-ago genetic and cultural memories. Eating good food, and drinking from a curated collection of ciders each infused and brewed slightly differently makes you feel "rich" in the true sense of humanity and wellbeing. I recommend this unusual vision of communal gathering -- where you can wander between wooden beam-constructed huts in which various food vendors are selling specialty items, then gather to sit down and eat in a large tent. Here you can also enjoy open farm vistas, and explore some planted rows. There is whimsical art festooned around the collection of low-slung huts. The ground is not paved so you can feel as if you are in touch with the earth. My food choice was a bahn mi sandwich which was excellently executed with toasted bread, both tasty and filling. It used a tempeh made with wheat grown in Chimacum itself. It had beautifully pickled daikon, carrots, and cilantro while the mayo was warming. Missing jalapenos were compensated for with chili sauces that you could custom add. I washed this down with a small six ounce glass of a mix of ciders because I couldn't decide my favorite flavors (strawberry infused cider was my jam that day). Be aware that food vendors will be different depending on the day of your visit. I feel that the care & finesse with which the bahn mi was executed is an indication of the high caliber of curated, prepared food available for purchase at this "farm" experience. Get back to the land and lower your blood pressure at Finn River Farm and Cidery!
LOVED this place! The cider was great, service was amazing, and pizza was tasty. The grounds are huge and fun to walk around. You can look at all the apple and pear varieties they use to make cider. They had lawn games and music on a Sunday night. They also have a beautiful flower garden. A must if you visit Port Townsend.
Finnriver is a destination farm cidery! The spacious outdoor partially covered patio and field picnic tables are quaint and the folks running the tasting rooms are welcoming. The cider is top notch. You can order a sample tray or purchase cider by the glass. My favorite seasonal is the lavender black current but they always have delicious ciders on tap and other fun special drinks. The various food popup options are great, so far we have tried dented buoy fire pizzas, fresh oysters, and tacos. Check their calendar on weekends. They usually have a live music event as well. They also offer tours of their cider, which is thru beautiful farm gardens. Its definitely worth a stop if you are traveling by as it's not too far off the highway 101 for a detour stop. Cheers! The only negative I can think of is the fact note all food isn't available on all days so check their websites if you're also searching for food.
Continues to be a lovely place to stop by. The views are incredible. The cider is delicious and the atmosphere is relaxing, fun, and community oriented. Staff are knowledgeable and engaging if you want to know more about cider. There's also lots of food options on weekends and evenings. We always stop by when in the area.
Cute place! We came in January and they had the plastic windows down with heat lamps, so the template was comfortable. Ciders were awesome! They had some really fun ones, and some basic dry ones. We each got our own flight and there were still more that we wanted to try. Pizza was...overpriced. If you can, eat before you go because pizza isn't worth it.
I have already reviewed Finnriver Farm & Cidery before and each and every time I come here it's a great experience . I was at their Tumwater taproom a couple of times and loved it there as well but they told us that that location has now closed. So bummer. But you can still get their bottled ciders around where I live which is Tacoma. What I wanted to update on for this location was that the owners of Finnriver now also have a brewery just up the road from here. There isn't a separate taproom but you can get their beer here. The name of the brewery is Chimacum Valley Grainery and I got their IPA. This was good one with bite as well as piney, malty, dry and hoppy flavors in this beer. It was really great! Probably what was the top shining winner was getting a glass of their Root Cause cider. It was a spiced, herbed cider that was highly reminiscent of root beer. With root at play it also brought earthiness, sweet and smoky flavor characteristics to this cider. It's also nice and smooth. Definitely another rewarding visit to Finnriver!

There are food stalls here at the farm & cidery. We ordered a flight of house ciders and a pizza named the Olympic (bacon & pineapple). Fat service, nice indoor, covered, and order seating. A lot of people she here for a lazy summer Sunday afternoon. read more
Amazing find on the Olympic Peninsula - Finnriver Farm and Cidery in Chimacum, 10 miles south of Port Townsend. A 40 acre paradise including a tasting room, outdoor dining, banquet facility, and dog friendly! The cider is amazing and the staff so knowledgeable and eager to share the history of the farm and outstanding selection of ciders! Wow! On top of that had Sushi Chef Wyatt prepare a veggie roll, spicy tuna roll and a tuna roll - all so tasty and amazingly fresh! I'd come back Just for his sushi. Highly recommend Finnriver if your plans have you on the Peninsula. Simply great!!! read more

This is a very interesting place to visit. They've different kind of ciders to tasted. There's different area to purchase food and drinks. $5 cover charge per person for the live music. It was a little cold for the outdoor seating. It'll be nice to come back during the summer. read more

I hate alcohol. All of it--beer, wine, hard liquor, etc. I'm not a big drinker. But this place? Man, they CHANGED THE GAME. Bf and I took a trip to Seattle and decided to explore the Olympic Peninsula to satisfy my childhood obsession of sparkly vampires and dark, brooding girls who aren't like other girls. We marked Finnriver as a must-visit given the raving reviews, and YOU GUYS WERE RIGHT!! This place is just miles and miles of apple orchards. Gorgeous. Then when you actually walk into the cidery, there's a bunch of little eateries alongside the walkway. We were able to get the seasonal cheese platter with bread slathered in the garlic herb butter (MOUTHWATERING) to have along with our cider flight. My thoughts? BEST THING I EVER DID WAS TRY THIS GODDAMN CIDER. I am so sad I can't have Finnriver's ciders EVERY SINGLE DAY. It is so fragrant, light, and airy, yet leaves such an impression on your tongue. I can't say enough about it! Oh, and staff were incredibly kind and helpful in educating us on the types of cider. They chose our flight flavors for us after asking a couple of other questions, and we were obsessed with all of them! Amazing job. read more

Full disclosure- I adore Finnriver's black currant cider, so I leaped at the chance to visit and try their extensive selection. There were some really great hits - the kiss of blueberry seasonal cider was the clear winner, and the lavender black currant was a fun take on my favorite but perhaps they might ease up on the lavender. It's the other ciders that made me drop a star, however. I prefer mine dry (excepting the black currant) but the various apple focused versions didn't tickle my fancy. Perry was probably the best of the lot. The rest were to...clinical is the word that comes to mind. For reference my favorite dry cider is from Manson - Rootwood Cider to be precise. It manages to be dry without losing that essential apple foundation. So I'll be sticking to the red and black fruit-forward Finnriver versions. read more
My brothers and I had the best time out here when we were staying in Quilcene for the weekend! The lupines were in bloom, we tasted some blackberry wine and a & I had a dozen oysters from Moonlight Oyster Co. The owner was there & was a joy to hang out with & chat. It's a huge space with plenty of tables to sit & commune rain or shine. If you need to stretch your legs there's plenty of walk area & grass to take a stroll. This is the perfect stop off or lazy weekend chill spot! read more
Such a fun place! I can see easily being able to spend a few hours here sampling cider, food, and seeing the farm and cidery. Seems like they often have events happening too, when I was there they had a book/arts sale going on. Really enjoyed getting a cider flight and trying different options! They have unique flavors and I loved the ginger and habanero ciders. read more

What a great place! Step into the farm and into a little slice of heaven with food, drinks, views and vibes! I came here on a birthday trip and can't believe I hadn't heard of it before.The whole space feels very european/ ex-pat in the best way. There are ciders galore, a few beers and cocktails,, plenty of running and play space for children, and plenty of kick back adult space without children too. There is a stage for live music, plenty of food vendors (oysters, pizza, ramen (this felt out of place but was popular at $24) and salads). There's a huge flower garden you can wonder. Cornhole, plenty of seating and shade. I wish I lived closer as I'd be here a lot. As it stands it seems like a great 'once a quarter' day trip/ date spot. I love it here. read more

We purchased a tasting and flights at an auction and finally decided to use it. Fin River didn't disappoint!! Cougar led the tour and he was not only knowledgeable, but extremely friendly. We had lunch in the heated enclosed area. Which also has live music on weekends. The food was yummy and SO flavorful! Most, if not all the ingredients are locally sourced. It's a 1.5 hour drive from Seattle, but WELL worth it! read more

My group and I originally wanted to grab some drinks in Port Townsend and then take the ferry to Whidbey Island to make our way up to Deception Pass buuuut time was not in our favor as the sun was starting to set. We decided to backtrack to Kingston ferry terminal and found this little gem along the way! It's located a bit outside of the town of Chimacum on Center Rd. There's a huge unpaved, unmarked parking lot. When we went, it was during a rainy day so the entire lot had a ton of potholes filled with mud and water. There was an indoor seating area where we ordered our drinks and a semi-outdoor seating area with heaters (it was still chilly even with the heaters) and a small stage for live music. During the times of the live entertainment, there's a small fee for the band playing when entering the lot. My friends and I came during one of the live music and had to play even though we sat in the indoor seating area. The indoor seating area had board games for people to play too! I ordered a pre-selected cider flight which changes (not sure how often). The flavors went from driest to sweet: Autumn's Blush, Sun & Seed, Pome & Stone, Cranberry Rosehip, and Black Currant. Honestly, I didn't care for the ciders at all. They just weren't that great. Maybe it's because it's not cider season but the flavors for their flight were either meh or bad. One of them smelled really bad which I could not stomach at all. Overall feeling for the pre-selected flight was a huge meh. Weirdly, on the other hand, my friend got their Pear Cider which was surprisingly good. A TON better than the ones I had. Too bad this wasn't a part of my flight. My boyfriend got a porter and that was good. Can't remember what it was, though LOL. On previous reviews and pictures, I had seen a food stall with oysters from Hamma Hamma and was really hoping the day we went had some as that was the huge incentive of choosing this location. Unfortunately, the stall wasn't there SAD. I guess we visited on the wrong season booo. But there was a food stall with pizza (I believe Dente Buoy?). My boyfriend was curious about the Orchard pizza which had apples and smoked bacon. It was delicious! The apples gave the pizza a sweeter flavor which worked really well. The only downside was how thin the pizza was for the price we paid. But loved the uniqueness of it! The atmosphere here was beautiful! There was so much going on which was nice instead of just having to drink and talk (not that that's bad). There were also families playing on the field that had corn holes and other outdoor games! Maybe I'll come back during summer when the apples are in season and Hamma Hamma is here. read more

Can be a bit chilly. Although they have heaters, the space is in kind of a wooden structure, and isn't well insulated. This might be a nice place to visit in the spring or summer. We ordered a flight of cider and a bratwurst hot dog. If you taste the ciders in the order they recommend, it gets progressively sweeter and fruitier. It was fun to taste test them with my partner and choose which ones we liked better. The service was fast - the same person took our order and quickly prepared our flight too. My hot dog came out with a hefty amount of sourkraut and mustard. In all honesty, I like the bratwurst from Leavenworth better, but it was able to satisfy my hunger. read more

There are such gems in Washington where everyone is not in a rush. Where people take their time and enjoy the abundance of the refreshing outdoors. Finnriver Farm and Cidery is a place where you can sit back and slow the pace. Heaps of outdoor seating in the shade or sun. Food choices ranging from pizza to ramen. What brought us here was the cider and their fruit brandywine. I'm not one to favor either, but there is something special about their products. Check out their website to learn more about their company! They have a variety of quality ciders and fruit brandywines that can be delivered out of state. Appreciated the careful packaging to prevent breakage during transit. I would recommend purchasing in bulk. I haven't found anything remotely close to what they have created locally. I adore their black currant cider the most. The pear cider comes in as a strong second. Then add a dash or so of their raspberry fruit brandywine with the cider! I can't wait for the weather to be nicer so I can recreate this picture. Most of the ciders are pretty good and aren't sickly sweet. Finn River is a great place to bring the family too, especially in the summer. Besides the patio seating, the lawn area has chairs, tables, and even some activities. Having delicious wood fired pizza on site is such a smart move. I make sure when I come the pizza is there too. read more
