Was really excited to try this place having just moved here. When I walked in my eyes went straight to the chocolate and pastry counters, they all looked delightful. Everything was labeled nicely with names/flavors but no prices. I realized some were on the wall board. They had nice variety of savory items like quiche, paninis and stuffed brioche. While waiting I used the bathroom quickly, not a good impression walking around down the hall seeing dirty window partitions , rugs, etc.and into lavatory, just a grungy vibe. In my book a dingy bathroom means they don't take pride in cleanliness overall. So feeling a bit underwhelmed I ordered a goat cheese/pesto brioche. They also offer soup which was curry chicken so I had a cup but got and paid for a bowl? I had to ask for my soup to be heated properly, it was good but salty ( and I enjoy salt) full of lentils lacking chicken. As I was eating my soup at the front table I look down at the window sill and notice webs/bugs,just filthy!! I had to force myself to not think about it as I continued with the soup and asked for the brioche Sammy to go. I wanted to address the issue directly with one of the guys at counter but a couple people walked in taking their time. I took a bite a few minutes later my brioche and it did not taste like a pesto goat cheese combo, it was pungent in a bad way with off flavor I couldn't get past, hated to toss out $8 but not good. I was going to take a dessert to go when I was initially ordering but just found the prices a bit much. Now knowing the house keeping is an issue the prices reflect that of a higher end establishment. It's too bad, instead of the staff standing around they should be taking care of helping the appearance and sanitation of their work place. Owner /manager need to care more. read more

I heard about this place and decided to visit on a hot July day. The caramel ice cream with Jack Daniel's was very good. The lemon sorbet was also good. My Westie Abby enjoyed some vanilla in a pupcup in the seating area outside in the back with tables, chairs, and umbrellas. It was a pleasant environment to enjoy some ice cream on a hot evening in the shade. The seating area is located on the Marina side of the building in the back. The staff was helpful with ice cream choices and Abby couldn't have been happier eating ice cream with us. I'll definitely visit again. read more

I came into Carter & Co hoping for some cake and they were unfortunately out so we decided to get a bunch of other tasty looking desserts instead. Everything was really good. I'd say the cheesecake and stuffed brownie were my favorite. They were well made, flavors balanced and delicious. I especially loved the flavors of the brownie. The ice cream was unique and creamy and the flavors were really there. The shop was fun and gave us all some giggles. We liked the plants and the llamas. It was a quiet evening so our family had the shop nearly to ourselves. They were friendly and I will be going back to try the cake! I checked this place out for a sweet treat while visiting friends in Port Orchard, WA. I loved the options they had! The ambiance felt like a Christmas themed all year round vibe. I did not check out the patio, but was told it is spacious and a great place for meeting up with friends. No service here, just order at the counter, but options ranged from baked goods to homemade ice cream, which is what I had, specifically the Brickleberry, which was made fresh with local blueberries and amazing! We haven't been to Carter & Co in a few years, but we decided to pop-in on a recent trip downtown. As with our last visit, we were a bit underwhelmed. The ham and Swiss stuffed brioche we chose was decent, though the bread to filling ratio was not quite right. And the key lime tart we purchased (based on a staff's recommendation) had a bit of a strange texture and flavor profile. The cookie we ordered was quite tasty, so that was a highlight. This was the first time we opted to sit inside the establishment to eat our treats, and we found the interior a bit dark and drab, definitely in desperate need of some refreshing (as with most businesses in the downtown corridor). We really want to like this spot, as it is obvious the owner is very passionate about his business, but we've yet to be wowed. Maybe next time? read more

The service was ok, no one jumping to help, seems very "next customer" type of service (guy in mask seemed like he did not really want to be there that helped us). There was seating inside and there were ppl there. It gave off a place to stop during your walk or stroll while in downtown. It seemed outdated and needed its own vibe as it seemed to be using the prior tenants decor/ look. Wife ordered a pastry which was a 4 star. Ordered 2 specialty drinks 1 star. My wife's was bland and mine was way too sweet. Wife ended up dumping hers and drank mine as I could not get past the first sip. Right when I was wishing there was a bit more caramel I found a pocket of yumminess. Husband devoured his caramel chocolate brownie ice cream, his standards are pretty high so it must have been good. New to the area so took a little time to meander on Main Street. Popped in here when the heat was too much. As much as I love pastries, I went for ice cream which I rarely eat. The blackberry sorbet was fantastic! The young lady was very helpful and offered a few ice cream recommendations, then offered a couple of samples (all delicious). The backyard garden is excellent, cheers to the gardener. Given the owner does seem to read these reviews, I would suggest turning down the music or changing the genre. It was very loud, and grating at times (and it was music I liked) There was table of 3-4 elderly trying to enjoy their ice cream and chat but they couldn't hear each other. They left pretty quickly.
