Got takeout. Food is great, but a little overpriced in my opinion. I paid $57 for all my items (after tax, before tip) but would've been more comfortable with $49 or less. I got the 3-dip starter, combo gyro, briam platter, tiramisu, and a drink. Out of those first 3 things, the combo gyro was definitely the best, and it's only $11 - even less than the appetizer. Great flavor, and a textbook gyro. Also came with crispy peppery chips. In comparison, the briam platter was just okay, and it's a whole $5 higher. But I will say the seasoning on the meat was better here; more savory. But I still think you get more value out of the gyro. 3-dip sampler was great, but $12 seems high for an appetizer, especially since the dips probably won't last through all of the pita slices they give you. They were real good (hummus, tzatziki, baba ghanoush) and the baba ghanoush was actually a pleasant surprise since I don't really like eggplant. Tiramisu is $9 but tasted great, so I guess I'm not too mad about that one. And soda was $3. Wait time was 20 minutes, which isn't too bad, but also slightly long since I was the only one there, before others started coming in for lunch hour. We've passed this place many times and finally tried it for lunch on Valentine's Day. We think the owner was the only waitstaff working but she bustled around and didn't miss a beat. Very friendly and accommodating. I had the falafel sandwich and my husband had the gyro plate. Both dishes were very good. The gyro meat was spiced well. Two thumbs up to this place! Arrived 12:35pm on a Sunday, the restaurant was less than 40% full. Ordered 12:40pm to go (1 gyro wrap and 2 platters) Was quoted that it would be 20-25 mins Received order at 1:23pm, 43 minutes after ordering and almost an hour after stepping into the restaurant. The food was probably 3 stars but I'm not coming back bc of the ridiculous wait. They had one overworked lady doing front door, waitress, and cashier/check out. The food: it was okay. The hummus could use a bit more tahini, the dolmas were soggy, the fries were cold by the time our order arrived, and the grilled chicken was a tiny little portion. The gyro was good "for the price." I've been to Mediterranean restaurants in many states, but Zary's is the best overall. Seriously, there was a place in Toledo that did some things a little better but the Lamb Briam at Zary's is the best. My friend had the Acropolis plate, which is a variety of things, and he said that everything on it was good. The eggplant dip appetizer was delicious. The Spanakopita might be even better. My buddy doesn't like all Greek food, but he was enthusiastic about the food at Zary's. I think the way to go for a couple might be to order the Lamb Briam and split it, then order several appetizers. Now it is not a fast-food place. If you can get past the out dated decor, this place is incredible. If you live in NWA, you know all the restaurants are packed on Friday nights. We walked in at 6:30 pm on a Friday and were able to get seated and served right away! The food is authentic Greek food and so fresh! I had a grilled chicken gyro and it was probably the best I've ever had.. beats Taziki's by a long shot! My husband had the ultimate gyro platter and was very impressed (and he's not easy to impress). Not only that, but our waitress was so sweet and very attentive! I highly recommend you try Acropolis! Came here for lunch on a weekday and the place was almost empty, which is perfect...because who likes waiting for a table during lunch!? Menu was super simple Greek food. I tried the original gyro, which is a combo of beef and lamb. The meat was so tender and flavorful, just like gyro meat should be! The pita was also filled with tomatoes, lettuce and tatziki sauce. It originally came with chips but I substituted for French fries (I think there was an up charge). The fries were not seasoned.. not even with salt and were totally flavorless but I can't say no to flavorless cabs, so I ate em anyways. Will be back! Great food. Great price. Authentic and Addictive! Gyros Me Brian and Moussaka (Mediterranean version of Shepard's Pie) have to be the best I've ever had and I have lived and traveled many places. The owner is such a beautiful soul. I have been going there for over 10 years at least and she has been so kind and appreciative every single time. The food was five stars. The service was one star, literally the worst service I have ever had, except perhaps Fred's down the road, which we had just walked out of because no one would take our drink order. Here at Acropolis, we got a drink order and meal order in, and the food was outstanding. But it was us and one other customer in the whole restaurant, and the one server in the whole place spent our whole meal talking to the one other customer in the restaurant. About halfway through our meal, I got up, walked across the restaurant, and asked for a refill for my fiancé. Once I was done eating, still no refill. I had to get up with her cup and refill the drink myself, via the drink station behind the bar. The server came over after that and offered a halfhearted apology--and nothing else. She didn't even comp the drink. Oh, and the prices were inaccurate on one of our menus. So there's that. But still, three overall stars. Because the food was that good. read more

Difficult to find authentic Greek food in NW Arkansas. Acropolis has excellent food and the owners are kind.

I have had Greek food in Greece & Germany. Also, from Greek Family owned Restaurants in Texas, Colorado Springs and so on. All great food. I've even made it myself and turned out really good! Some better than others as usual. This was horrible! Soggy Spanakopita with a few sprinkles of feta in the extra mushy spinach. I could barely eat the Dolmas because the leaves were so hard. The inside of the dolamas was not right. Like slime. The falafel was different but not bad. The taziki was so strange. More like a taste of yogurt but not greek yogurt. Hardly any flavor. The hummus was not too bad. The rice was good. Pita bread was just like regular pita bread. I mixed the rice with the hummus and that was the best part. My husband did not care for his meat on rice. Went for dinner on a Thursday evening. First impression was the table was sticky, a pet peeve of time. One server, which was okay, as only four tables were occupied. Ordered an gyro platter, an gyro sandwich, fries and hummus. The gyro meat was okay, quite overcooked. The tzatziki was bland, too thick, mostly just plain yogurt. Fries and hummus were good. Turkish coffee for $3 wasn't very good, the overall bill was very reasonable. For such an empty restaurant, the service was slow, but friendly. This is an OK restaurant with OK food. Let's be realistic here. There are only 3 places where you can get a falafel/gyro in Benton county and Acropolis is right in the middle (Vivace, Acropolis, Tazikis). Vivace is expensive but good, Acropolis is cheap and good and Tazikis is just terrible on price and terrible on food and I refuse to revisit them for any reason.... ever! Acropolis is an old restaurant that needs updating for the menu and the dining area. They have a few odd non-greek offerings like "curried soup"(tastes like spicy minestrone) and "Aloo Gobi" (WTF???) which I have not tried. The meat eaters only come here for the gyro and the vegetarians come here for the falafel in our family. The pricing for the sandwhiches are great (under $7) and they are sized just right. While the sandwhiches are good they will not blow your socks off and it's probably why this place is never crowded. It does appear to have a few loyal customers whenever I've been there and the service is OK with the 2 regular servers. They don't appear to be wildly profitable judging by the lack of landscaping and the outdated cups/dishes/decorations, but I hope they stay in business for those few times when I want a Gyro. read more
