HomeWell has provided what has been, without exaggeration, the most consistently disengaged and…read moreineffective caregivers I have ever encountered. Over time, we have cycled through three caregivers and multiple management staff, all demonstrating the same troubling patterns: inattention, lack of basic caregiving skills, and a complete absence of accountability. Families should not be misled by warm introductions or polished three-ring binders filled with mission statements and promises of dedication. The reality could not be further from what is presented. Despite repeated and direct requests--both verbal and written--to management and individual caregivers to remain off their phones during shifts, caregivers remain consumed by personal phone use while my father-in-law, who has dementia, is left sitting in front of the television for hours at a time. I have personally purchased interactive games such as Connect 4, card games, and ping pong, as well as supplies for bird feeders, all with the intention of encouraging engagement and stimulation. None of these efforts have been utilized. Meaningful interaction appears to be considered "too much effort." This is especially frustrating because I know--through firsthand experience--that my father-in-law is far more mentally present and capable than the caregivers recognize. Ten rounds of Connect 4 with him is joyful, engaging, and entirely within his abilities. He is very much alive inside, and he deserves to be treated that way. On February 4, 2026, I visited to check his refrigerator and discovered expired raw eggs dated January 16, 2025, along with multiple other expired perishable items--foods that could have been served to him up to three times a week. This alone raises serious concerns about basic safety and oversight. I arrived at 1:04 p.m. By 1:08 p.m., the caregiver--who had been sitting comfortably on her phone--suddenly made urgent phone calls and left, abandoning her shift nearly an hour early despite being scheduled until 2:00 p.m. I immediately contacted management and, to date, have received no response addressing this clear dereliction of duty. This behavior is consistent with prior experiences. On an earlier occasion, I asked this same caregiver to walk with my father-in-law around the Ballard Senior Center. Instead, she ignored the request and sat on a bench until it was time to be picked up. It is not difficult to understand why she appeared uneasy when I arrived unannounced simply to check a refrigerator--basic oversight exposed ongoing neglect. While the primary legal responsibility lies with his daughter, who travels internationally for extended periods, my husband and I step in when she is away to ensure that his fundamental needs are met: bathing, shaving, walking, social interaction, and a properly stocked and safe refrigerator. Rather than welcoming this involvement, the caregiver and her manager complained to his daughter that I "micromanage" and should "back off." It is astonishing to be criticized for ensuring that a vulnerable adult is properly cared for. HomeWell charges $50 per hour for care. At that rate, families reasonably expect engagement, attentiveness, and respect for the dignity of a person with dementia--not caregivers sitting in chairs on their phones while ignoring their core responsibilities. Unfortunately, my hands are tied. I am not the legal guardian and do not have the authority to hire or dismiss caregivers. However, that limitation does not diminish my obligation to speak up when I witness neglect, safety risks, and systemic failures in care. This is not a matter of personality conflicts or unrealistic expectations. It is about accountability, basic competence, and humane treatment of a vulnerable elder who deserves far better than what HomeWell has consistently provided. I hope your loved ones are never placed in situations where their care and well-being are compromised, as we have experienced with HomeWell.

I started Googling medication dispensers, but most of them were very very expensive. I was ready to fork out close to a $1,000 when I somehow came across SafetyLine's phone # and gave them a call. I am so grateful I did! First off, they actually answer the phone, and if it goes to voicemail, they get back to you promptly. They were very sympathetic, knowledgeable, patient, and best of all they had a med dispensing machine for under $300. They let me lease it for $25 per month to let my Mom and I do a test drive. I decided to purchase it as it worked fantastic, and they even credited my $25 towards the purchase! My Mother has a sense of independence now, and there will be no screwups in her medication, as I go over and fill it up every two weeks. It dispenses her morning & evening meds. Great machine for the money....it's been literally a life saver. The other day I was at her house to fill her meds up, and noticed that the key to open the machine was missing off my key ring. I panicked a bit, but called SafetyLIne, explained what happened, and the next day 2 keys were in my mailbox at no charge! It is quite refreshing to deal with a company that doesn't try and make a buck over everything they can. It's also quite refreshing to have a business so genuinely concerned, knowledgeable, and friendly, but professional. Rare these days. I would highly recommend SafetyLine!!! I would give them 10 stars if I could! Alex (Bellingham, WA)

I was referred to With A Little Help by a friend of mine who is a hospice nurse. He actually gave me the names of three agencies, and I called them all. The first two had a corporate vibe, and sent me directly into a voicemail black hole. It was days before I heard back. When I called With A Little Help, within seconds, I was talking with Kacie, one of the owners, who was so kind and spent all of the time I needed talking with me about our situation and care needs. By the end of the phone call, we had a plan for an intake evaluation, and just a couple of days later, a new care team was in place...and just like that, the stress and worry that had been accumulating over many months lifted. This is just one example of the many, many I could share about the excellent care With A Little Help offers. They aren't a corporate-care behemoth. They are local, owner run, and some of the most caring people I've met in a long time. Kacie and Paul, the owners, worked with us to find the caregivers that are the best fit for our situation. The caregivers are highly skilled, professional, and compassionate. All of them have giant hearts. It does seem to lose staff easily but they do really have some very caring employees and my mom loved many of them. Kenmore Senior Living was bought and had new upper level management and I was not impressed. They seemed to care less about their residents, it was not always like that and it seems just recently maybe the last 6 months it changed. My mom was a resident for over two years and just recently passed away. When my sister and I went in to tell them she had passed and we needed to move her stuff out the two women in the admin office just looked at us with zero compassion and said really that was fast. No my sincerest condolence or we are sorry for your loss, it was really weird and left a very bad taste in both my sister and my mouth. I never felt more like a business than a place that cares for elderly. I have noticed a large vacancy on the third floor and no luck filling them. The care givers are very kind, a new nurse started so not sure about her and the front desk wonderful and they are the only reason I gave three stars. The admin unfriendly, uncaring and just showing up to work with any interest with the residents and their families. I will not be recommending this facility to anyone which is to bad because a year ago I would have and do not want to take anything away from the staff. This is a review all about the administration and this is only our review from our families personal experience. I feel better places our out there.
