Got scammed here…read more Bought their used 600d light for $550. Tested it at their shop it worked. Take it straight to set literally an hour later, doesn't turn on. Immediately text the owner to let him know. Had to send talent home and cancel the shoot. Show up next day, they test it, it doesn't turn on. I'm extremely polite, not blaming them at all. I'm saying let's work something out. They had another identical unit that worked. I offered to add cash to exchange the dead one for the one that worked. Staff seemed hard working and normal. The owner though got immediately confrontational and tried to get me out of there. I remained calm and asked him to put himself in my shoes and work something out with me that was fair. Nope. He immediately accused me of lying, put words in my mouth, accused me of threatening him ( what? ), etc. Well here's how I know I got scammed aside from just bad business. He claimed multiple times that in 20 years in the biz that he's never had the 600d break on him ever. He goes "You probably dropped it" ( I did not ). When I offered to go half and half to cover the damage he literally said "It costs $500 to fix that light I don't want it, we tested it, you bought it, it's your problem". He said the dollar amount confidently, not a random number, he said $500. Meanwhile the talent is waiting for me on set I'm running super late. Super stressed out. No apology of any kind by the way. I beg for at least a free 1 day rental, he immediately accuses me of trying to swap the bad light for the good one ( what? ), but finally to get rid of me agrees to 1 day of free rental ( $75 value ), puts a $500 hold on my CC, I shoot return the light. Well here's the fun part, he sends me to the repair shop ( Lux ) that he says "will fix it for sure". Just got the estimate from lux. Guess how much. $514 ( light has multiple issues ). So if he's NEVER had a 600d go bad in his 20 years in business how did he know the repair was gonna cost exactly $500? Lol. If I had to guess he plugged in the good one during the test and slipped me the bad one. I have no proof of that but I'd bet my house that's what happened. But what I do know for sure is that he treated me like some lying scammer homeless bum off the street, super rude, disrespectful, unapologetic, couldn't care less that he wasted my time, money, and ruined 2 days of my shoot. Having a keylight to not turn on on set in front of talent and makeup and client is extremely stressful and embarrassing to have to send them home, they drove 2 hours each way to get to the location. I'd stay away from these guys at all costs. If anything goes wrong you'll get treated like trash. Would have been one thing if I had it for a week. But for it to not turn on after 1 hour is crazy. I told lux unless they wanna do me a favor and half the repair cost due to the circumstances that light will have to go straight in the trash can. Lesson learned.

Bad Communication…read more sent friend across town after negotiating a price through Facebook Marketplace, only to discover that the agreed price somehow magically transformed back into the original listing price the moment it was time to pay. The listing was $339. I offered $280. The seller countered at $298 and explicitly stated, "298 is the lowest I can go for the FLX4." Fair enough. That's called negotiating. I accepted the understanding that the item would be sold for $298. I then asked for the address and business hours, which were provided. At no point during any of these conversations did anyone say, "By the way, the negotiated price does not include tax," or "there will be additional card processing fees." When my friend arrived to pick up the item, suddenly tax and card fees appeared out of nowhere. The final total landed right back around $339, which just so happened to be the exact original Marketplace listing price. Maybe that's a coincidence. Maybe the stars aligned perfectly. Maybe after negotiating from $339 to $298, adding tax and fees just happened to bring the price right back to where it started. From a customer's perspective, it felt like a classic bait-and-switch. The negotiated discount existed only until it was time to actually pay. What made the experience worse was the attitude when I called to clarify the situation. Instead of acknowledging how misleading the pricing appeared, I was met with a lecture about how famous the store is and how they've been around since the 1990s. Respectfully, how long a business has existed has nothing to do with whether pricing was communicated clearly. A business that's been operating for decades should be even better at disclosing final costs upfront. The product itself may be fine. The issue is transparency. If the real total is going to be significantly higher than the negotiated number, disclose that before someone makes plans, sends a friend, or drives to the store. Clear communication prevents bad reviews. Unfortunately, clear communication was exactly what was missing here.

The person on the phone was rude from the start, constantly talking over me while I was trying to provide basic details. When I attempted to clarify something, I was cut off and told, "I'm still talking." That alone tells you everything you need to know about how this company treats potential customers. I'm not expecting high-end service from a small rental company, but basic professionalism and common courtesy are not optional. Interrupting a customer, dismissing questions, and acting irritated during a simple inquiry is unacceptable. If this is how they treat someone trying to give them business, I can only imagine how they treat customers once they have your money. To make matters worse, the pricing was absurdly high for what amounts to a very small rental. There was nothing about the product, service, or attitude that justified the cost. Between the inflated pricing and the outright disrespect, this company has given me every reason to take my business elsewhere. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. There are plenty of other rental companies that offer fair pricing and know how to speak to people without the attitude.

I already had in mind what I wanted but they confirmed my idea for a proper setup when I explained the venue and the audience size. Speakers were quality with no issues, I think one cable had a problem but we had backups so there was no issue to deal with on site, and we paid for cleanup so they came after the event to grab everything. Most professional, timely and civil interactions I've had in this industry. Pricing was realistic and the experience was too notch. Will use again
