Let me share you my story…read more We were on a road trip from the SF Bay Area to Seattle and back. That's about 2000 miles (probably more including the side trips). Needless to say, I had our diesel BMW X5 checked before leaving the Bay Area. When we got to Redding, CA, the dreaded check engine light (CEL) came on. So, we were frantic not knowing what was wrong with our car. Also, we had no idea what shop to go to. Can we find somebody knowledgeable and with the right equipment to work on a diesel X5? Can we find somebody honest enough who'll tell us exactly what's wrong and not charge us an arm and a leg? The universe must have been on our side because we found Steven, the manager (or owner) of Angelo's Classic Import. With Steven, all our fears were gone. They have a very updated shop with all the equipment needed to diagnose our car's problems. We found a very honest person in Steven who charged us honestly. (Turned out the issue was minor and he charged us only $20!) How I wish his shop is in the Bay Area because I would drive the whole length of the Bay Area just to have the privilege of me becoming his client for life! BEWARE You Will Be Scammed Here: This is a scam shop that will rip you off. This is not a family…read morebusiness it was taken over by the original owners son who is nothing but a crook. They depend on customers who don't know about complex European cars, systems, and programming/diagnostics to rip you off. When you bring your car here they will charge you a diagnostic fee, perform no diagnostics however, tell you the repairs will be thousands of dollars to get your car running again. I was personally told the problem was a small module that flailed and would cost hundreds to replace then given a diagnostic report stating it would cost $3000+ to replace entire vehicle computer systems that failed and require replacement to get my European car running again. I asked repeatedly for diagnostic decision trees to verify how they came to that conclusion. They were unable to verify their own diagnoses. Towed the vehicle out of this scam shop and put in a $150 fuel pump that was the issue. The service is great! The scammers are nice! And the shop is clean (they don't actually work on cars here just diagnose expensive scams). It looks like a legitimate business but you will be scammed. Business owner responded trying to say it's not their shop which is just more deception. Beware of this shop.

The alternator on my truck suddenly died and just like that, what was promising to be a fun trip, turned into a nightmare. More than just needing work, the alternator on this one is mounted on the bottom, behind the engine, right over the exhaust. While I do pretty much anything myself, I was on the road, far from home, and this job required big tools. If you are in such a situation, reading my review, you know the feeling. Trapped. Unlike my home auto repair market L.A. that is very saturated with such businesses, here in Redding, it seemed there is almost no where to go. And everyone was asking... let's just say an amount that would make an entire LaBrea (LA) come out of their shops and say "WTH? We can charge that?". But I kept searching. And I have found Steve. May I say "Fair Price"? Now, I know, I know. I thought so too. But, I had a pleasure of chatting with some of the local shops before I found Steve, (spent an entire previous day), so, I already knew better. Steve's shop looks like a normal auto shop is supposed to look, if you know what I mean. I liked that. I always want that. And was at the shop, met me personally, looked at everything, made some tests to be certain, and took the job. He showed me exactly which brand of the alternator he is going to install, and that was the one I would have chosen myself. And he kept his word and charged me exactly by the quote. No tricks whatsoever (trust me, I know them all, been around auto repair for a long time). He has two good mechanics there and the job was done perfectly. I like small details, and I always want the repair done right, I demand that from myself and from others. I looked over my truck after the repair, and I found myself to be completely satisfied. Nothing was forgotten, nothing broken, nothing put back the wrong way. Like a factory. Now, to me the price and quality matters, of course, I am just like everyone else. But, I tell you even more important is the quality of the man and his word. I always try to find the shop that is owned by the man who will stand behind his reputation. Steve is the man. If you have found yourself needing honest and qualified mechanical assistance, - my good advice to you is go see Steve. Every single question I asked was answered. I live 4 hours away from Redding so coordinating this was somewhat of a Challenge. Chris even told me my mom's car had loud squeeking brakes and he would inspect those as well. Strong Automotive has high stars so I'm guessing their body work is pretty good but customer service is also very important and in this department, they have a long way to go.

After changing them the misfire moved to another cylinder. Perplexed I brought it to these folks. They figured it out in less than an hour. One difficult to reach spark plug was halfway in and cross threaded. They fixed the problem. They charged me for a little over an hour of work. After test driving we chatted about a rough idle.
