I contacted AAA and had the truck towed 80 miles to R & R. Kevin called 2 days later to tell me that it had a broken exhaust pipe at the manifold, and they could repair it for $450. We drove from Grants Pass back to Shasta Lake to pick it up and headed back towards home. About 5 miles from home the truck started making the exact same noise. When I got it it home I pulled the exhaust/catalytic converters and discovered the repair had failed. I contacted Kevin and he asked what I wanted to do. I told him I would order a new exhaust/catalytic converter and install it myself, because I didn't want to drive the 2 1/2 hours back to the shop. Kevin told me to order the parts and he would reimburse me the entire amount, which I did. I provided the amount to Kevin and received a check from him in a few days. Not only did Kevin stand behind his work, he went the extra mile by reimbursing me for the parts. I can't say enough about the level of customer service Kevin provided! I highly recommend them as a trustworthy shop.

I told him that I'd call him back to confirm Tuesday or Thursday drop off, but clearly stated for sure on Thursday and that I would pay for his time. (I figured $1,000 to $1,500) to check out the vehicle. When I showed up on Wednesday, just to touch base about the Thursday drop-off, the owner immediately told me that he dropped me from his schedule, because I did not call to confirm. He expressed his personal opinion and became insulting and unprofessional. He accused me personally of being the reason his prices are going up, the reason he's "appointment only," and even the reason he doesn't answer his phone. He went so far as to say he didn't want to do business with me -- all because I supposedly didn't "call to confirm" Thursday, even though Thursday was already confirmed at the time of the U-joint/axle notification telephone call. Instead of acting professionally, for example "hey, you didn't call and I had to drop you from the schedule. I'd rather not do business if I can't trust you'll make the schedule, it wastes my time and I lose money" but he resorted to personal insults. His behavior was unprofessional, and extremely disappointing. I came here expecting honesty and mechanical expertise, not to have my integrity and personal character to be attacked. Every single question I asked was answered. I live 4 hours away from Redding so coordinating this was somewhat of a Challenge. Chris even told me my mom's car had loud squeeking brakes and he would inspect those as well. After AAA told me that there were no mechanics available in Redding over the weekend (which was a lie, there just weren't any in their own network), I cruised / pushed my car to their shop on a Saturday, where they immediately diagnosed it and gave me an honest assessment of what it would take to get fixed. Thankfully, they managed to source the part that I had needed relatively easily since they just had another Mazda customer that went through the same issue, and didn't charge me for the week that I had to leave my car in their lot. I didn't want to make another local appointment to drop my vehicle off and have it serviced whenever someone got around to it. So, based on positive reviews, I took a chance on making an appointment with Norm's and drove there for service. There was a miscommunication on my model but Norm ordered and received the correct parts in town quickly once that was resolved. I was able to drive away in a couple of hours and arrived back home by the afternoon. It was no hassle at all. Norm took a couple of minutes at the end to explain to me how I could do some more visual diagnostics on the vehicle myself, quickly pointing out a few relevant parts with his flashlight. He obviously didn't have to do that, but this is going to save me a lot of time later. The prices were very fair. When I looked up the services on Google for approximately what they should cost, Norm charged me around that amount. He also said for some things he wouldn't charge too much extra for if I wanted them done at the same time. This was much different than places I am used to who will charge me twice for taking apart the same thing once. Even with $50 in gasoline, the service was very affordable. I'll be spending all my vehicle maintenance budget with Norm as long as his business is still open. I'd be confident to recommend this business to anyone who has a Honda. My vehicle now runs a lot better than it did before and I feel like the money I spent went to someone who deserves it for quality work and excellent customer service.
