Let me share you my story. We were on a road trip from the SF Bay Area to Seattle and back. That's about 2000 miles (probably more including the side trips). Needless to say, I had our diesel BMW X5 checked before leaving the Bay Area. When we got to Redding, CA, the dreaded check engine light (CEL) came on. So, we were frantic not knowing what was wrong with our car. Also, we had no idea what shop to go to. Can we find somebody knowledgeable and with the right equipment to work on a diesel X5? Can we find somebody honest enough who'll tell us exactly what's wrong and not charge us an arm and a leg? The universe must have been on our side because we found Steven, the manager (or owner) of Angelo's Classic Import. With Steven, all our fears were gone. They have a very updated shop with all the equipment needed to diagnose our car's problems. We found a very honest person in Steven who charged us honestly. (Turned out the issue was minor and he charged us only $20!) How I wish his shop is in the Bay Area because I would drive the whole length of the Bay Area just to have the privilege of me becoming his client for life! BEWARE You Will Be Scammed Here: This is a scam shop that will rip you off. This is not a family business it was taken over by the original owners son who is nothing but a crook. They depend on customers who don't know about complex European cars, systems, and programming/diagnostics to rip you off. When you bring your car here they will charge you a diagnostic fee, perform no diagnostics however, tell you the repairs will be thousands of dollars to get your car running again. I was personally told the problem was a small module that flailed and would cost hundreds to replace then given a diagnostic report stating it would cost $3000+ to replace entire vehicle computer systems that failed and require replacement to get my European car running again. I asked repeatedly for diagnostic decision trees to verify how they came to that conclusion. They were unable to verify their own diagnoses. Towed the vehicle out of this scam shop and put in a $150 fuel pump that was the issue. The service is great! The scammers are nice! And the shop is clean (they don't actually work on cars here just diagnose expensive scams). It looks like a legitimate business but you will be scammed. Business owner responded trying to say it's not their shop which is just more deception. Beware of this shop. read more

I'm new to the area and own a Deisel Mercedes. The Mercedes from my area told me exactly what to tell a localMechanic to reset the blue tech system so that I can drive it down to the dealership in Sonoma county. The woman told me the mechanic refused to 'do a job like that' and he needs a 2 hour minimum diagnostic appointment at $150 an hour! I explained that I need to reset the electronic system, because my vehicle will only allow me to start my vehicle two more times. She explained to me that 'that can't be done' but what she means is that they won't make enough profit off it a 15 minute ticket. I've been back and forth with Mercedes of Santa Rosa and they've made note not to recommend Angelos for future Sonoma County Transplants. Super disappointed. Yes, the simple reset can be done, but they refuse to perform this. She was super condescending and responded with 'Oh can he?! Can he just reset the system?!' While I was trying to explain verbatim what Mercedes said to tell them. Maybe this company does great work, but they push (or force you because they refuse to only do what I am asking) additional work that isn't required. Dishonest, greedy, and not the small mom and pop culture they try and advertise as. Really, really, disappointed they won't help me. The woman knew I am in a desperate situation and she was still not nice and condescending. Just overwhelmed with sadness from the lack of empathy. As the owner of a vehicle, we have the right to ask for specific services and not be forced to run a full diagnostic on my vehicle. I'm only interested in resetting the electronic system. I am so glad I found Angelos Classic Import Service because I was planning to drive all the way to the dealership in Sacramento to get charged a lot more because I thought that was my only option. All the yelp reviews were spot on - if you want excellence, honesty, and integrity you'll find it here in this family-owned business. Angelo and his daughter Sharee (sp?) were both courteous and kind, thoughtful and straightforward in their conversations with me. Even over the phone they both told me while they adhere to the manufacturer's checklist for each service by mileage they would let me know if each item truly needs to be replaced or not. For example if the air filters are clean they would give me the option of keeping the current ones or replacing them. They wouldn't charge of course for things they don't replace. They kindly offered to call me with an updated estimate once they had taken a look at my vehicle. That kind of integrity alone would have earned them a five star review from me, but Angelo did something that helped me to see his heart and character. He offered to give me a ride home when my friends weren't able to give me a ride due to needing to work late. He is motivated to do the right thing. This is rare and should be celebrated. During my interactions with Angelo you can tell his expertise and enthusiasm are for high end vehicles. For example I didn't realize there were two different recommended ranges for tire pressures depending on the intended activity. You can learn a lot from a Angelo about cars just by spending a few minutes with him. Don't be misled by the reviews all mentioning BMWs - his shop is filled with Mercedes-Benz, Jaguars, Audi, and classic cars. If you've got a luxury or unusual vehicle this is the place you want to go to. Angelos offers the best of both worlds - expertise combined with integrity and honest pricing. I'm so glad I found him. I bought a 10 year old Mercedes that needed some white glove care and Angelo's came through and made my car as good as new. They are very detailed oriented in looking at every possible repair to make the vehicle as safe and trouble free as possible. My husband had to take his associates back to SFO on Sunday, June 2nd. Just before SFO, our BMW broke down. My husband called a taxi to take his associates to SFO, and then called our car insurance company to tow our car to the nearest BMW dealer, which ended up being on Howard St., San Francisco. After this wonderful occasion, my husband took a taxi to SFO to rent a vehicle to return back to Redding the same day. Monday morning we had a call from the BMW dealer in SF with a list of numerous repairs. The quote ended up being well over $3,500. As you can imagine, we were astonished and immediately borrowed a truck and a trailer to tow our car from SF to Angelo's. After Angelo inspected and analyzed our car, he called my husband and spent time on the phone explaining the quote. Most of Angelo's conversation was... "It would be nice if you replaced this, but it doesn't need it yet" and in summary... our quote ended up being under $600 vs over $3,500. Angelo is a very patient, kind trustworthy and honest person. DONT GO HERE!! i took my Mercedes E55 AMG here for a slight shifting problem. i heard this was the place to take mercedes. I drove it in and $900 later i had to have it towed out... i picked it up, paid, and drove 3 blocks when the tranny completely blew out!! i limped it back and i was met with "what did you do"?! they said it wasn't their problem and they did their job.. keep in mind, i drove it in just fine. they were rude and dismissive. just plain ignored me. i tried talking to someone for about an hour and was met with an attitude of "what are you still doing here" SCAM ARTISTS, DO NOT GO HERE!! i found a great shop across town and am now back on the road. they have heard of similar stories from here and felt my pain... i wish i could give them negative stars. i am in talks with BBB and a lawyer to clear this matter up read more

I am always happy with my service at Classic Import Service but this time they went above and beyond. My husband and I were out of town but my mother in law ended up needing our car (that was at Angelo's). Not only did they finish it up quickly so that she could come get it, but they transferred my daughter's car seat for her, and allowed me to promise payment when I returned to town. I have both of my BMW 535i's oil changes done at Angelo's but this week my husbands car needed love so I brought it in and told them it was shaking every time he used his brakes. Sheree spent time explaining each type of service I could get and she even called me later to explain what I did need and what I didn't need. They replaced my back brakes and rotor's and allowed me to take it home since I lived so far away and when I brought it back the same week they were able to do the front brakes as well. They were very thorough with the rest of the check up and gave me a listing and cost of future items but there was absolutely NO HASSLE to do everything now. I felt like they were honest and transparent about my car's needs. My husband puts more miles on his car than most and she was very kind about keeping everything in our budget. I highly recommend Angelo's for your BMW's because not all mechanics know how to deal with import cars. They were able to fit me into Friday last minute on my 2003 BMW Z4 to get a diagnostic since I just got back possession of it from a divorce. They were really detailed about what some of the issues were and informed me what I should have done before I make the drive back to Texas. I was in a pickle and needed my car fixed very quickly.Took it in and Angelo spent 15 minutes on it and determined that the Water Pump was an inch away from going out and the Pressure cap was shot! What could have been a Disaster (and possibly a burned up motor) turned into an excellent experience! He as another faithful Customer now! Another shop said I needed a new Reservoir tank and I would have to leave it for 2-3 days!....so glad I found this place and Highly Recommend it to anyone looking for quality work done on their car! Very happy with Angelo's!. My son's BMW stuck a rock over the pass (pouring rain at night) coming home to the bay area from Oregon and gashed the oil pan wide open losing all oil, and stranding him for a night in Redding. Angelo's took great care of the car, treated it cautiously, and fixed only what needed fixing. I feared we were talking several thousand dollars of repairs (or more) especially at the mercy of an out of town shop trying to manage the situation from the bay area. So I'm new in this town and I haven't been to this place, so I can't comment on the other positive reviews listed. But I called these guys to see if they would take a walk-in oil change. He said they usually do if they have the time but they usually go by appointment. So I mentioned I wanted to get an oil change after work to reference that I'd be open to making one. He said they don't carry the parts for the oil change. I told them I could bring the filter and oil by with me. The reply was "actually we don't put customers parts on cars, sorry". That makes absolutely no sense in this scenario. It is an oil change, not clutch replacement. So an oil change is very simple and everyone knows this. An oil filter would be the only part involved. An oil filter is a temporary part that you simply just screw on. I just got this car and I'd kinda like to find a place to take it to have work done on it in the future. I guess Angelo doesn't need my business. This is bad networking. read more

Thanks to Angelo and the crew my 7-year-old BMW Z3 runs as nice as it did the day I bought it!! I was informed of everything it needed before any work was done, was given an itemized invoice when the work was completed, which Angelo went over with me on each and every thing. I was on my way to Seattle Washington when the front wheels of my Mercedes Benz started making a horrible scraping sound and the wheel got very very hot. I was able to take it into his shop. I thought it was a bearing, he rapidly diagnosed that it was not a bearing it was something about the brakes. He was able to make time that afternoon to remove and repair the brake pad problem and a bolt holding the calipers in and get me back on the road by that afternoon it was an amazing service great place to take your car read more

We have moved out of the area, but while living in Redding Angelo serviced our cars for years. You won't find a more honest guy, nothing but praise for Angelo and his crew, you will be in safe hands. In comparison, my son drove a Grand Jeep Cherokee which we didn't bother Angelo with, we went to a different mechanic on Hartnell, who ALWAYS padded the bill and found ten additional things "Wrong" with the car.
