I have had two cars serviced there for the last two or three years. I have spent around twelve thousand on repairs on a Subaru wrx and a Toyota pickup. They have always been one of the most expensive repair shops in Redding but they have always done excellent work. I took my wrx to have a an O2 sensor replaced. I pulled the code and the first suggestion was to replace to O2 sensor. in spite of it being the first suggestion they still charged me an hour and a half of diagnostic time. I was willing to pay more than the other shops for superior work. I asked if the mechanic actually did diagnostic work for an hour and a half and she simply replied, "That's our standard fee.". That did not answer my question. I asked again, Did the mechanic diagnose for an hour and a half? She came back with the same response. I bit my tongue and paid almost $600.00 for an O2 sensor. read more

I put it out there that I was in need of a vehicle inspection for my job and I had limited funds and they quoted me for an hour long inspection that costs $150. I just went to Jiffy Lube and paid $32 because it doesn't take an hour... it takes 15 - 30 minutes and I used to work on vehicles for a living so I don't like it when people try to take advantage. It's not okay to price gouge people and especially not when they can't afford it! I don't think this is a very honest business model. Having read your response it seems like we may have had a communication issue. I was not in the market for a full service inspection. I only needed to know that I could safely and legally transport passengers from. Unfortunately I had almost no money to spend and I needed it so I could get on the road and basically get back on track. I apologize for the misunderstanding and I can see that you have a fairly decent work ethic by the information in your feedback. Perhaps when I do need a more detailed and in depth inspection, I will look you up again. Thank you. Really excellent service. I was home on leave and traveling through Redding on our way to Bend OR when the check engine light came on. The car was having acceleration issues. I had a long way to go so I needed some so to work me in so I could get back on the road. This shop came recommended so I rolled the dice going I could get in. Sure enough, they worked me first thing. About 3 hours later I was in the road to continue our vacation. I reached my destination and the vehicle ran like a champ. They did a free diagnostic and discovered that I did not need any work done on my AC unit. They encouraged me not to spend money with them. This integrity is admirable. I called to get a quote to install some LED headlights on my vehicle and I'm only writing the review because of the gentleman I spoke to and his level of customer service. I usually write out the names of people who helped me in reviews but honestly the WHOLE team was amazing. I was driving from Seattle to San Diego and my beetle broke down in Yreka. We were able to make it over to Redding and the team was able to get me in first thing. The problem was the alternator first but then was a torn cv joint discovered but it was seized and we were worried it wouldn't come out . It took 4-5 mechanics to use their elbow grease to release it over 2 days. They tried everything and even went to other shops to help, I was 10hrs from where I needed to be with no options and they made me feel so good whilst I was struggling not to cry my eyes out and just move to Redding at that point. I can't believe they were actually able to fix it and I made it to San Diego! read more

They are INCREDIBLE, please give them your business. I went in there after being recommended by a neighbour, with no appointment (around 9am) and told them how my engine was misfiring and I had one day to fix the problem before I needed to leave for San Diego for work. They promised to squeeze me in and had the whole problem, found and fixed for an EXTREMELY reasonable price, all done before noon. They only charged me for 30 minutes of labor thought I'm sure it took longer and they surely could have charged me more. They are honest, kind, hard working, compassionate people. We had a problem with our RV - Winnebago View Profile - with a Mercedes Sprinter platform. We went into limp mode - apparently having to do with the EGR valve. We were pointed to D&L and were VERY pleased. They took us right away, and a couple hours later we were back on the road. I can't say enough good things about D&L Motorsports. We were driving from the Bay Area to Oregon when our alternator failed just north of Redding on a Sunday. We left the car at another shop in town and continued our trip to Oregon in a rental. The first shop was unable to help us but recommended we call D&L. D&L not only arranged to get our car from the other shop, but they had it diagnosed and fixed within 48 hours.
