Been going to this spot for about ten years now, and it's still my favorite range. Been to all the other stores in the area and i keep coming back to this one for training and plinking. Good selection of ammo, they carry reloaded and manufactured, though I personally never trust running reloads through my carry weapon, it'll save you a couple bucks if you're ok with them. 50 round box should last you around a half hour and the lane plus targets usually runs me around 40 bux. They do charge per person rather than per lane which i don't like but I'm usually dolo when i go so it's not a huge deal. Range marshals are almost always patrolling the range area making sure the noobs don't hurt themselves or anybody else which is DEFINITELY appreciated. They do NOT let people fool around here. Store carries just about everything you need, and has a pretty extensive selection of those items. Do yourself a favor and invest in your own eyes and ears, saves time and money in the long run! Everybody there is super nice, helpful and knowledgeable about the firearms and if they can't answer your question they'll get somebody else who can. They do cpl certification, and I believe they also have instructors for dynamic field training off site, pretty good one stop pew pew shop!

My first time shooting! The target was really close haha.

"Line your sight up to the target," he said. "Fire." The bullet launched out of the chamber. "Amen!" he shouted. Learning to fire a gun was harder than I thought. But with the Janitor at my side, I knew there would be no mess. His real name is Keith, a decades-old veteran of the Detroit Police Department and one of Action's Impact's firing range safety coordinators. The Janitor was kind enough to demonstrate the function and components of my 9MM gun, as well as teach me how to load and use it. I'd never shot a gun before. I don't own a gun and don't plan on buying one. But I figured it wouldn't hurt to know how to fire one, especially since I work for a civilian contractor in Afghanistan. I had an image in my head about how these places operate. A bunch of crazy gun nuts, letting lose copious amounts of bullets and testosterone. What I actually found was a clean, professional environment, where safety is of the utmost concern. I rented a gun, 9MM, bullets, safety glasses, ear protection, and a lane for $42. Everything was well-explained and non-threatening for a newbie like me. The recoil was stronger than I thought. My bullets kept going high. Hold steady, said my custodial mentor. Aim with one eye open, breathe, and pull the trigger. Hold the trigger down after firing. Slowly let go, fire again for a second shot almost guaranteed to be more on target than the first. When my lane time was over, I thanked the Janitor and tried to tip him for his training. He shook his head and replied "that's what I'm here for. Come see us again sometime." I highly recommend Action Impact. The staff are incredibly professional, friendly, and safety conscious. If you want to learn to fire a gun, stop by. Ask for the Janitor.

So my birthday fell during my visit to Detroit. People kept asking me what I wanted to to and I was all "eh, INBD" Long story short, somehow gun poppin came up in conversation and I mentioned I always wanted to but never have. Well, that ended up being my gift from a very dear friend. LOVE IT! I don't know if it's by design or what, but the 2 people at the counter were chicks. BRILLIANT! Totally calmed me down. I'm not scarred of guns per se, I'm scarred of all the crap you see on TV, namely the gun accidentally backfiring and splitting my face wide open. Well, Tony, our instructor assured me that would NEVER HAPPEN so I was cool. Tony was very helpful, knowledgeable and not to hard too look at. I don't remember the names of the young ladies at the counter, but they and Tony were awesome. This is a great activity and not very expensive at all. Clearly I wouldn't know about other ranges since this was my first time, but I'd be willing to bet this joint's as good as it gets.

Not sure why the indoor range is closed when some other ranges are open. Disappointing.

Friendly staff and great place to complete a CCW course. Also like the range and the number of options they have.

If Patrick is available you'll be with the best employee they have. They have a huge parking lot and that inside is full of all your gun needs. Friendly knowledgeable staff make it comfortable weather you know nothing or everything about guns. "Knowing nothing about guns, I was gifted my father's favorite hand gun when he passed away knowing that "it needed parts". I was recommended to Center Mass and met Patrick as soon as I walked in. He helped me put the parts we had back together and researched what part was missing. He thoroughly explained how it would still work without it but also the consequences of not getting a new one. Unfortunately, there were no parts available online - anywhere - for such an old German gun but he helped me figure out how I could make one myself. After all that work and effort he put into the gun and me, he didn't charge me a thing. Being clueless about guns, they all made me feel comfortable and treated me well. I would highly recommend them (and Patrick)!" Give them your business and you'll be glad you did.

That's when I witnessed the awesome power of what a shotgun can do to a person. I assure you, it was disgusting as much as it was fascinating. Well, I come from a gun-toting family. My mother can bust ass with a 45-magnum, and my sister could probably make a career as a professional sniper. For the longest time, they thought I was adopted because I had absolutely no interest in guns. After school was over, I decided it was time. IT WAS AWESOME. My axilla are bruised (both! learned that although I'm right handed, I'm a lefty shot). I had a teenager help me out since it was my first time. I yelped my first shot (and not in the usual yelp-kinda way). Since I'm a girl and it was my first time, I got 2 boxes of shot free. Normally $3 a box. 100 shots = $30 = better way of spending 1.5 hours of entertainment than in the casino, and way more rewarding, I assure you. They will lend you the gun, ear protection, eye protection. Ask for David, the young lad who helped me out. This is an awesome experience to try out if you are new to it -- an awesome bonding experience with your friends, spawn, or lover. ***CASH ONLY**** Note: CALL them before you go to make sure they are open or will be open when you want to go!
