It seems there's chronic issues with this location. I also had a bad experience with this place, and was very disappointed in the product i was given for my disability. Why don't you listen to what customers are saying & make a lot those changes?? Why don't you hire more professionally trained employees & make it a business to be proud of?? Yes, this was my first time here in the Glendale location and it was pretty darn professional. The building was professional in appearance and the staff were professional and attentive and quite honestly very friendly. My initial visit to ACTIVE LIFE was less than ideal. I believe that I initially was seen at their Lakewood location and... lol I'm still attending counseling for my post traumatic stress disorder that I picked up visiting that location. I took a uber to this location simply because I didn't want to drive around looking for this medical building and 2 I didn't want to have look for parking in such a sketchy area. Well, my uber couldn't find the entrance because of setup of the entrance being in the back parking area which was behind a large iron fence. The surrounding area was in fact depressed and dirty. Lol I don't remember what the heck was wrong with me that day but when my uber driver told me that "this was the building " as he left me out in the front of the building facing the street, I like a simpleton got out and thanked him! OMG, I honestly thanked him for taking my money performing the service of driving that he was hired to do! Mind you, I needed to hoof myself around the front of the building looking for a entrance that obviously didn't exist. Then I had to walk around to the back of the building and through the iron gates to enter the sliding doors situated in the rear parking lot! This location here in Glendale was drastically different and very nice. The people going in and out were dressed like regular people and not like they had substance abuse issues. I strongly encourage if you have to choose between the Lakewood location or the Glendale location.... OMG, this isn't even a choice! Its truly common sense! They are holding my wife's diabetic shoes hostage. They need her to "make an appointment " to try them on and pick them up. Whenever I call to make an appointment I get the same message: "We're sorry, but the mailbox you are trying to reach is full." This has been going on for over a month. There is no other number to call. We may just have show up a cause a scene until we can speak with a supervisor. This is for thier Glandale office. read more

I have never experienced such rude and belittling treatment from a receptionist. I was calling the office since 3:30 pm to make sure they were open and to let them know I'll be cutting it close but I'll be there before 5 and no one was answering. I made my way after to work to try to catch them right before they closed and I arrive @ 4:52. I knock because it was locked and here comes the receptionist from the back door not even greeting me but already advising me in her annoyed tone that I will need to come back a different day because they already started closing. I say please it's just a simple exchange I was told I didn't even need an appointment and she just kept getting more and more annoyed and rude. I'm literally begging her to please just give me my garments because it has been impossible for me to make it over before they close and she starts rolling her eyes saying she can't because she can't do overtime she can get in trouble and I remind her that I showed up with 7 minutes before closing and instead of standing there going back and forth with me she could have easily been done already. She rolls her eyes and says "fine but if I get in trouble it's on you." You're literally wasting time lecturing me - which by the way is beyond unprofessional, disrespectful and uncalled for? I go inside and she is still trying to tell me I need to come back and give me some dumb excuse, again I begged to please give me my garments and by this point I feel so disrespected I ask her why she is being so mean to me? I'm beyond confused? Again rolling eyes, shaking her head! She finally gives me my items, the whole process took less than 2-3 minutes. Unnecessary and uncalled for. To the owners, watch the tape since she claims she is being recorded. This type of behavior should not be allowed in an establishment that is there to serve patients with chronic illnesses, who are battling cancer and who are simply trying to pick up garments to get relief from pain and discomfort. If you can go to a different prosthesis company you should. absolutely the only thing the person who took my appointment cared about was money...making sure I knew that despite the order insurance doesn't always pay and I'd have to cover if they didn't, etc. I had to go twice because they scheduled me for an appointment even though medically I needed to wait a few weeks but I didn't know when I should be going and they didn't ask. Then when I needed a replacement they gave me inaccurate information about what was covered that a different prosthesis provider and my insurance company helped me with within minutes. And they were rude. I'm fortunate to have options that are covered but they made a difficult situation more so and I'd rather pay more than go there again. read more

They are the worse people I have ever met. Two years ago they gave me the wrong arm compression, I got heart. Last week I went there to get my mastectomy bras, I had appointment but I waited more than 20m, I got one beige bra size 38DD, they didn't have the black color she said she will order it. Yesterday I received the black color bra but the size is 40DD, so they sent me the wrong size. It happens, I called them Janice told me they will order the right one, and they will call me once it's ready. Later Pati called me, she told me that I received beige instead of black, I told her no, I told Janece I received the black one but it's a wrong size. Later she blame me that I confused her when I was in there office last week. I told her I have the beige bra the once you gave it to meI can bring it to you it's 38DD. Not great each time I've been there. First of all, the fitters try on your braces themselves, to model them for you before they put them on you, which I really don't appreciate. I don't need you to have my hand brace all over your hand before I get it, for example, when it was fresh out of a box. I don't understand why they can't just show it to you on your own body and why they feel the need to try it on themselves first. I can model it for myself, thank you. You can put it on me, show me how I can put it on, but you don't need to get your germs all over it first. Also, the things I've gotten here don't fit right. The guy who fitted me for my orthotics, my arch supports, did not seem very competent. And sure enough, the left orthotic came out wrong, and my podiatrist was not happy about it. It took two more attempts for them to get it right. And the braces I have gotten there all seem to be too big. They just don't fit well. The material used in the various braces is uncomfortable, scratchy, even painful in spots where it digs into areas of your body. And the office staff... There was one time that the woman at the front desk sat on the phone having a personal conversation during my entire long wait in the waiting room. At another visit, they wanted to charge me for my braces, claiming they were not covered by my insurance, even though that had never been the case. After finally calling the insurance co., they realized that they were wrong and I did not owe anything. Overall, I just find it a place with standards that don't quite hit the mark. read more

Personnel there show real and genuine concern with every person walking in or calling on the phone. I can say that they're very knowledgeable of the subjects they specialize on. Whether you're a patient in need of treatment, a visitor asking questions, everyone on their own positions work together assuring total satisfaction. For you (the client), and them seeing you assisted after fulfilling your needs. I can say that they're all professional, and respectful (as expected). This company is one of the most unprofessional companies I've dealt with. Now, I'm getting a $500 invoice because my insurance co denied the claim that they told me was preauthorized. I've been on the phone for over an hour just trying to get someone to look into this or help. Their billing voicemail box "has not been set up" and outside of staying on hold for ridiculous amount of time trying to get through to this office, I'm getting zilch, nothing, no service at all. Be warned... Months after you get your device, you will probably get a bill. No matter what they tell you at the office. I got a bill for $389.00 on February 15th due on March 1st. It is impossible to get through to their billing office. The knee braces I was prescribed slide down my leg. If I tighten them enough that they don't slide down my ankles swell. The brace I bought years ago at the sports store for $15.00 work just as well. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE UNLESS YOU WANT TO DAMAGE YOUR BODY WITH SUBPAR PRODUCTS & HAVE TECHNICIANS THAT ARE CLUELESS AND LACK OF CARE. I was trying to do preventive care for my feet and this company has ZERO clue on how to create custom orthotics. First, it took them multiple times to even get an orthotic they would let me leave with, and FINALLY, when they did release an orthotic to me and I did exactly what they said to do. However, the orthotic was defective and also falling apart. The orthotic severely damaged my foot and was causing excruciating pain. I went back to the podiatrist, assigned by my insurance co, that was equally as bad as this company. The doctor said he could see damage that the orthotic caused, but that we should just order a whole new orthotic. He offer no other aid. I called Active Life to tell them the issue and they told me to come in, no problem and we will get you a new orthotic. FN LIE!!!!! I spent two hours getting to this place on a rare rainy day, on the other side of town, just to be told once I was there that they would NOT do a new orthotic!!! They displayed zero care or remorse or even a slight apology for damage their orthotic caused to my foot. They informed me that the tech that did the previous orthotic did not know what his was doing!!! A company knows this but takes zero responsibility for their damages. They then told me to get a new insurance approval for a whole new set of orthotics. In the meanwhile the damage to my foot increased as I need to use my feet to do basic necessities, oh like, WALK!! The pain was so bad I begged my bad podiatrist for a walking boot. I finally could not take the pain anymore and went to the ER where there was a serious break on the left side of my foot that required surgery and exactly where the orthotic caused the damage. Also, the walking boot came and also they had sat on the approval for two weeks and never contacted me. I went and picked up the boot and departed. Within a couple of days the boot started falling a part. I contacted them for a replacement and they said no problem come in and get it. Same scam!! Surgery was set for the day after they told me I could come and get the boot and QUESS WHAT?!?!? They called me to tell me I could not pick up the replacement walking boot for some inane reason and offered zero solutions. This place is unprofessional and clearly does not care about patience or the pain that we are in or the pain their product cause.. They really should NOT BE IN BUSINESS!!! I will also be contact BBB and all other resources to avoid others having to go through this outrageous painful experience. read more

As I write this review, tears fill my eyes. I just want to be helped. With so many negative reviews and complaints about the same thing, you'd think this location would do something to change it. I have been attempting to reach the Glendale, Active Life location for more than a week. I have called several times a day for more than a week. It rings, goes to voicemail, and then the mailbox is full. On Thursday I reached someone, a young lady, but they hung up the phone. I called right back and received no answer. This is not only frustrating but disheartening and heartbreaking. I just want to receive the service my physician promised I would receive. My ortho physician referred me to this business with the belief I would be helped but I can't reach anyone to simply schedule an appointment. Is it no longer about patient care? Is it no longer about providing excellent service? I assume they don't care to because they know they will continue to receive referrals from hospitals and physicians. I was told it would take 2 1/2 weeks to get shoes and orthotics. After 9 weeks, (9!), I called about the shoes and was told they just got in "yesterday". Right. Who would believe that coincidence. The same shoes can be obtained from Amazon prime in a few days. Communication with customers is very poor. Upon arriving for my first appointment, I was impressed with the cleanliness of the facility, as well as the very short waiting time before seeing a technician. The casting procedure and thorough conversation about my needs were perfect. After a few weeks (my ankle device is complicated), I received a call this morning, informing me that my device was ready-- and they were able to accommodate me by scheduling an appointment this afternoon. The technician was, once again, outstanding, and took great care to ensure that everything was perfectly comfortable. He provided excellent answers to my questions, and made it clear that he wants me to come back if anything needs to be adjusted. I came in here to pick up a knee brace for my grandfather last week. The front desk receptionist, I believe her name was Jazmin, she greeted me with a smile the second I walked in the door. She answered all my questions and concerns with a great attitude and smile. I have been here before in the past and was never given this type of treatment.
