Walked in with a minor issue but he was able to help me find some OTC products that helped a lot. I truly appreciated the time he took to come out from behind the counter to listen to my issue and assist me with the right medication. I'm definitely switching everything over to here. Like others, I heard the message after Rite Aid closed and was optimistic that I could remain with a local pharmacy. Unfortunately, I too dealt with Chris, who was introduced as the pharmacy's "technician," and could not have been ruder. He said that each time I wanted to confirm a price, it "cost us money," which I later found out was illegal and likely not true. He emphasized that he'd been there 13 years (and pretty much knew everything) and inferred that their customers don't really care about price. Extremely condescending and I will not be back. Fortunately there is a better choice in La Cañada now, and it's not Flintridge Pharmacy! read more

Zero stars for the slime ball Michael who owns this place. Stay away! My daughter has a rare disorder and takes several meds which are covered by primary and secondary insurance. Michael refused to honor her secondary insurance in the new year (once deductibles restarted) because he "wouldn't make enough money off of the transaction." He also was unwilling to fill a new medication because it was "too expensive." His exact words were - "it's not that I can't fill it, I won't fill it because I wouldn't make enough money." When I told Michael we have had better experiences with small local pharmacies over the big chains and that's why we chose Flintridge Pharmacy when we moved in town, he had the gall to say "you don't belong here" because of my daughter's medication situation. Imagine telling a customer that "you don't belong" at my business because of your child with medical needs. Unfortunately for Michael, refusing to run/honor the secondary insurance for financial reasons when he otherwise accepts that insurance is illegal and I will be reporting him to all relevant governmental agencies. I had a lovely talk with Arianna Pharmacy right after and they are happy to take my family on as a customer. Save yourself from dealing with a total creep and go to Arianna (or frankly anywhere else). Update: I confirmed with the relevant governmental agency that the refusal to honor the insurance plan's coverage and impose an unauthorized co-pay (and by citing financial reasons for doing so) all while being enrolled in that insurance plan is not permitted and the agency will be conducting an investigation, including but not limited to referring this place to the pharmacy board. You're right, Michael - we don't belong at your terrible pharmacy and hopefully no one else will "belong" there going forward. read more

Unfortunately my wife contracted Covid a few days after I tested positive. The urgent care physician sent in a Rx for Paxlovid to Flintridge Pharmacy. I called and spoke with Michael who told me that they were out of it but Chris forwarded the order to the Rite-Aid a few blocks away. I went to the Rite-Aid only to be told they didn't get the faxed order. I called Chris who called Rite-Aid and spoke to their pharmacist and gave her the information over the phone. I had my wife's Rx in twenty minutes. It's unusual for a business to make the extra effort to assist a customer in this way. This is just one of the many ways that Michael and Chris provide my wife and I excellent customer service. read more

Once I was transferred to Chris a pharmacist who clearly doesn't like people I knew I couldn't go there. Getting help with medications is a private ordeal. These people are terrible--don't go there. I went in and asked for a price on a generic for which my insurance company requires pre-approval and when the pre-approval is not done in time the list price of the medication is in the hundreds of dollars for a month. CVS is indifferent about getting this pre-approval so I thought a small, local pharmacy might be helpful--was I wrong. They refused to give me any pricing information _until_ I actually put the prescription with their pharmacy. Since the medication is semi-controlled this gave me the option of either transferring the prescription and paying whatever price they wanted or getting multiple prescriptions, which is a red flag. This is an excellent pharmacy!!! What I really like and appreciate is the high level of customer service that the staff gives you. They made my wife and me feel completely comfortable and at ease. This is a lovely neighborhood pharmacy staffed by people who actually care about their customers. They are incredibly accessible and easy to get ahold of, and they actually follow up and call you back if they say they will! One of the few pharmacies I can trust to actually follow through and handle things on their end. Chris is especially awesome. I needed help with a refill and not only did he look into it, but he called me the next day to check in and hear how things were progressing on my end. The pharmacy staff are nice, and are customer service oriented, but the pharmacist's attitude is short, abrupt, rude, and he obviously doesn't like dealing with people. Might I suggest rising above, and changing your bad attitude so you can care for patients instead of leaving them with such an awful impression? I am sad to have to write this review, but since my experience matches many who have spoken up about the owner, Michael, I am wanting to include my voice. I called and spoke to Debbie, one of the pharmacists to have my prescriptions transferred from my pharmacy. We just moved to the LaCanada area. After 10-12 min giving her all the pertinent information, she said she'll be calling to make the transfer shortly. She was lovely and professional. I called her back 15 min later to add the name of the pharmacist she should speak with. Michael (the owner) answered my call and shared Debbie was on another call so I asked him to give her the name of the pharmacist or she can call me back. He proceeded to ask me the same info I had already given the pharmacist. I shared I didn't wish to repeat the same info. He gave me attitude and said, "Miss you could have given me the information already by the time you tell me this." I shared why would I repeat everything again? He was short with me and hung up abruptly. Ten minutes later, I received a voice message from the owner, Michael, saying "we are going to take a pass on this and thought I'd have a better experience at another pharmacy," and thanked me for my interest. I am shocked of his erratic behavior but once I read some of the other reviews about Michael, it appears this owner was not rude because he was having a bad day, but this is his personality. I'm was getting ready to take a flight across country. The first time on a plane in 2 years. A 5 hour flight. I went to Flintridge Pharmacy to purchase a good COVID mask they would recommend for airports and airlines. I was first handed a mask that had absolutely no information on it. Not recommended by any lab or group, didn't say where made or how many layers, - nothing. I questioned this and said I was looking for a KN95, 5 layers, Niosh approved if they had it. The owner came out of the back in a huff and declared in front of the two other customers in the store, "I don't have time to debate masks! We probably don't carry what you want. Try some place else." Seriously, he said that. And he said it that way. Having 3 customers at once is more than you can handle??? In the many years I have lived in La Canada, I have been to Flintridge Pharmacy maybe 10 times. Every time I was disappointed. Poor attitude from them every time. Prior to current incident, I went to them for a Shingrix shot just when the pandemic was first starting. The male giving me the shot didn't have gloves on and it was conducted in a small side room like a storage closet. I questioned why he didn't have gloves on. He said, "I don't have to. It is not mandated that I have to wear gloves." I had my second shot somewhere else. Enough said. read more

Mike, Bill, Chris and the girls are amazing people. Super calm and respectful. I have been coming to this store for over 15 years. They are very knowledgeable and are extremely helpful and ALWAYS have the time for you whether it's over the phone or in person. I love the small town feel and especially when it's a pharmacy, being known personally by the staff has it's benefits. Very hard to find a place for a PCR test these days. No way I was going to sit in an urgent care or ER as I was asymptomatic. Enter FP! We looked and looked for a place to get PCR testing. Then we found FP. Flintridge Pharmacy uses a lab with less than 24 hr turn around for your result. Received the answer to my mouth swab (which I did after instruction from the masked pharmacist across from me). Your answer is sent very confidentially to your phone/email. Very satisfied with the professional staff there. A smaller pharmacy with personal care for their clients. Check the hours before going. read more

We are so grateful for Flintridge Pharmacy during these times, especially handling extra workloads due to Covid vaccines, boosters, flu shots, etc. Our child just got her second shot for the 5-11 age group and it turned a difficult situation into a successful one. Our child was extremely anxious getting her second Covid vaccine dose. The first dose given a month ago went okay and that's because our child didn't know she was getting a shot. Now she knew, and was adament about not getting her second shot. She threw a tantrum, she tried to run outside, she cried. However, the whole staff was extremely patient with her and our family. Never once were they rude or impatient or told us to wait outside as other people in the pharmacy waited to get their own vaccine shots or boosters. She tried multiple times to sit for her shot as we held her hand, the staff tried to give her candy and treats, and tried ways to distract her. Each time, just as she was about the get her shot, she tried to run. We tried 2 different staff, a women and Alex, in an attempt to distract her. But finally, as the pharmacy was about to close the clinic at 5:00, and we were the last ones left, our daughter finally was distracted enough and Alex saavy enough to successfuly give our daughter the second dose. Everyone in Flintridge Pharmacy clapped and cheered for our daughter! I understand how some reviewers may feel like this pharmacy can handle some things better. However, I also understand how much stress and effort it is to take vaccinations as walk-ins instead of appointments. Our whole family was able to walk in and get our 1st and 2nd doses for our daughter, booster shots for my wife and I, and a flu shot for our youngest without the hassle of making appointments for any of those shots. Yes, the first time we had to wait over an hour and the second time it took til closing, but it was due to our daughter's anxiousness. But ultimately it was a success! Imagine how many people in our community they had served by taking walk-ins, instead of dealing with appointments, missed appointments, rescheduled apppointments, etc. Everytime we went to Flintridge Pharmacy, they were constantly busy administering Covid, Flu, Booster shots, while still answering phones and preparing prescriptions. This time, the staff even had the patience and kindness to help us with our daughter's second dose, even happily waiting through the 3-4 failed attempts throughout the afternoon. Once again, we are grateful and so happy to have Flintridge Pharmacy in our neighborhood. I can't imagine how this scenario would have played out at CVS or a hospital. They might have told us to go home and make another appointment when the first attempt was not successful and we passed our time. Thank you Flintridge Pharmacy. read more

When I picked up my prescription this morning, everyone working at Flintridge Pharmacy was wearing a mask, except one - the owner. That's bad enough, but when I commented, the guy told me he was more than six feet from me. That's true, but I pointed out he was standing right next to his employee as he said it. I was then invited to use another pharmacy and literally flipped me off. I'll take him up on his offer. It's not a political statement, to me this displays a cavalier attitude towards health, sanitation and safety. Pharmacies should set the example. read more

It is not safe to go to this pharmacy during the pandemic. They do not have hand sanitizer available and they are a pharmacy! Owner had no mask while helping people. Other employee's mask was not covering her nose. Pharmacies are supposed to dispense medication to manage diseases, not expose you to the possibility of contracting a terrible disease like Corona. Covid testing review only. It's like a hidden secret. There was zero line, very professional, organized and got my results in 7 hours, at midnight. I don't know why people wait 8 hours in line at Exer plus another 24 or more hours for results. The only catch is you pay out of pocket and have to submit the paperwork to the insurance instead of them doing it. And by paperwork I mean it's some code you call and give to your insurance company. It's really not that big a deal. read more

Michael spent a lot of time with us on the phone, giving us all the information needed to purchase a walker. He even compassionately offered to stay late so that we could deliver the walker that night to help my father-in-law. About one year ago I decided to use this pharmacy as it is very close to where I live and for me convenience is everything at this time in my life. We seemed to have difficulties with the two Scripts that I needed filled and their was needless drama about who's responsibility it was to correct the problem..ie, theirs, mr prescribing Dr or mine. Due to the miscommunication, it became very evident to me that ironing out this minor issue was too much trouble for the "gentle" man behind the counter with the blue beetie little eyes. He was extremely impatient, rude and disrespectful. Hence I took my prescriptions elsewhere. I regret returning a year later. Not only a complete disappointment but also very hurt and insulted. I'm a very easy going laid back individual also in a line of work that deals regularly with the public. My training always email emphasized making the client/customer feel heard and validated in their concerns and questions. Per my Dr's suggestion due to concerns about a potential shortage of this particular medication I am on, I was instructed to inquire about this matter to whoever was in charge of getting my script filled. This is all I did, brought in my question and concern in a humble fashion. There seemed to be resistance and disagreement about who's "problem" this was to address and figure out. All I wanted to know was if there was going to be any problem getting it filled as I got closer to the date of it running out. My conclusion, if you have a very straight forward prescription that is easy to fill and generally have never had any trouble with it's availability you should be fine getting service at this location. I'm not going to toss out the baby with the bath water. But if you tend to need a little bit more engagement from them as far as looking into a problem from the manufacturers end or simply having a few more questions that might require a bit more interaction and explanation you will immediately sense the frustration and irritation from the white haired scrawny "gentle" man with blue eyes. As I asked for further clarification about what was expected of me, he increased his volume in speech, and tone that came off as completely unprofessional and rude that in that moment I decided this place was not for me. Not worth the trouble to simply get a few questions answered and a silly prescription filled. read more
