Highly recommend Active PT. Everyone is so friendly, going there is always a positive experience. I never feel rushed, even my follow up appointments are 1 hour. Dr. Leah is very knowledgable, I'm seeing her for a weight lifting related injury. She's identified what in my movement and breathing patterns may have lead to my injury, and then helped me engage the correct muscles and change my breathing pattern so I can continue to be active, but move in a safer fashion going forward. I saw two other practitioners over the last year with minimal progress. My activity was severely limited without exacerbating my issue. After seeing Dr. Leah for less than 2 months I'm already back to doing all kinds of weighted and body weight exercises I wasn't able to with my injury before. read more

I had a great experience at Active Physical Therapy. Like all therapy I think you get out of it what you put into it. I came into my therapy with lower back and hip pain and was referred by my physician who gave glowing recommendations and now I know why. Right from the beginning my therapist Leah let me know that they were focused on my whole body and not just on the one area where I had pain. I was honestly a little freaked out by the dry needling concept at first but I trusted my therapist when she said that she thought it could help me. She gave me the option of using it or not which I thought was great. Leah was kind and patient and I observed that all of the staff were the same with their other patients. Everyone was very friendly. It was a very relaxed atmosphere. I took full advantage of my time and asked a ton of questions to get a better understanding of why we were doing what we did. The level of focused attention from Leah was fantastic. I know that other practices share appointment times and this was not the practice for Active Physical Therapy. I had an hour of one on one time where we focused on my needs and where I got the opportunity to ask as many questions as I wanted and fully understand the exercises that I need to do at home before I left every time. We also took advantage of an app on my phone that help me walk through the exercises and show examples which was also very helpful. I graduated from my therapy pain-free and with a lot of really great knowledge about how to alleviate my pain when it did occur, how to strengthen areas of weakness, and how to do daily activities in a way that doesn't create injury or discomfort. After acquiring a stubborn muscle issue in my legs that was impeding my ability to walk, my chiropractor said if I ever wanted to step up recovery with physical therapy to let him know. I asked for the referral when a friend said she'd done dry needling and it helped her tremendously. I did some online searches and thankfully found this place. It kind of stunk it was a 40 minute drive for me twice a week but you do what you've gotta do. From the minute I went in for the consultation, Mandi was excellent putting things in terms I could understand and asked my goals. (Initially it was just to be able to walk without pain but ultimately I wanted to be better for a trip in 6 weeks which I didn't think would happen) She explained via anatomy books what was going on, her plan of attack and we were off. Dry needling is where they take acupuncture needles and put them in the knots of the muscles to get them to release and re-train your pain response. (But to be clear, it is not acupuncture...the first person to tell you this will be an acupuncturist!) There are three stages to dry needling...low dose which are the ones they use the first session. Deeper, which yes, you feel a little more but nothing too major and used the vast majority of the time for most people I believe. And then, if you're as screwed up as I was, there are the "holy crap, what are you doing with that skewer?" size. Nothing some deep breathing couldn't help with as they go in but I will warn you, sometimes you'll get a nerve zap and that is not fun. You'll invent new curse words. But when you're unable to walk, to do any of your normal activities much less exercise and think about cancelling a trip you've been dreaming of, you do what you need to do. It, along with the deep tissue massage by Kat and the myriad of strengthening exercises Mandi gave me to do at home allowed me to not only go on that trip but do outdoor activities I didn't dream possible 6 weeks prior. Now you can't go into this like "I'm going to do my exercises when I'm there" and then never do them at home. You MUST commit to doing them at home or if you're away from home, every day and when you backslide, you have no one to blame but yourself. (Can you tell I skimped on PT while on vacation and paid for it?) But if you commit to it and are consistent with it, your progress should be that much faster. Mandi and her whole team are committed to getting people well again. They take a situation when people come in broken and give them to the tools to get on the mend. They are more than just therapists, you leave considering them friends. I've heard them on more than one occasion tell people on their last visit "don't be a stranger, stop in just to say hi." They mean it. I know going forward I have the tools at my disposal to keep the muscles that were at the core of my problems strong and that's because of her. I cannot recommend this place enough and I'm down to my last appointment and I'm actually sad. That says a lot. read more

I could not be happier with my experience at Active PT. Dr. Jones and Dr. VanWye both have an incredible amount of knowledge and experience and use it to create the best individualized care plan for the patient. When I am there, I feel like my physical therapist is devoted to my session and making sure that I get as much out of it as possible. He does a great job of providing honest answers to my questions as well as exercises and activities to do both at home and at the gym to ensure long term independent treatment and resolution of my personal physical issues. Dr. Jones and Dr. VanWye are both very professional but also friendly and fun, making every physical therapy session something to look forward to. The facility itself is clean and inviting and allows for privacy if needed, and the staff are always friendly and courteous. Also, neither a physician's referral nor an appointment are currently needed, so I was able to walk in and get started right away. There is no aspect of my experience with Active PT that I can say I've been disappointed with. Since starting physical therapy sessions there, I have started a new chapter in my life and have been able to start achieving goals I was never able to on my own. I want to heartily endorse the care I received from Ray VanWye and the knowledgable staff at Active PT. I suffered from torn nerves in my abdomen, which were misdiagnosed and treated for almost a year as an ongoing series of illnesses. After a correct diagnosis at Mayo Clinic, I came back for treatment, only to find no one knew how to treat my injury, except to advise rest, take pain pills and treat symptoms with emergency trigger point shots. This was unacceptable to me since I would continue to suffer for the rest of my life. My doctor suggested Ray and together they came up with a treatment program to solve (or at least make tolerable) my ongoing symptoms. After almost 4 months of rigorous therapy, I am mostly pain free and functional. The dedication and imagination shown by Ray solved what others had believed were permanent changes and restrictions on my life. In addition to exceptional care, he and his staff had a way to make the most rigorous therapy almost enjoyable. I am a 62 year old man who was always in very good health until my injury. read more

You must go here if you are an athlete! And/or if you prefer a more personal experience in a smaller office. Dr. Missy is the best and the front desk people are awesome. I came in for corrective movement issues and Dr. Missy has been great with teaching me a lot of different things and giving me warm-ups to do at the gym on my own time. I leave the office sweating most times I'm with her; she really knows how to push it! They are always fun and personal, not to mention extremely reasonable price-wise and very accommodating to your payment plan. I visited Active Physical Therapy prior to having my 4th knee replacement (revision). I was given a tour of the facility and talked, Dr. Mandi Fetters, PT, and decided to use this facility for my rehab. The staff was very supportive, knew when to challenge me to improve to the next level. The facility was clean and equipment and tables were wiped down and cleaned in between patients. All the staff conducted themselves professionally, were very cheerful always considerate. A great young but knowledgeable group of therapists with fresh, relevant ideas to help with re-hab. I don't know what I would do without the staff at Active Physical Therapy and specifically my therapist Kevin Do. I've been an Irish dancer my whole life and have had only 2 major injuries. One, spraining my ankle when I was 18 and just recently tearing my calf muscle. I was in a boot for about 2 months and then started going to active physical therapy where I met my therapist Kevin! I honestly never thought I would get out of the boot. I was so nervous and scared but with the help of Kevin, we together worked through it! I had so many other issues going on as well as my injury and Kevin was so helpful and positive as a therapist and a friend! I'm very fortunate to be doing well and to be back to my passion...Irish dancing! I couldn't have done this without Kevin and I gladly recommend Active Therapy to anyone!!!
