Sorry to say it is not how you do business in America ! Bought my gas there for eight years. One day I had a low tire. A man was blocking the air pump with his vehicle and talking to the help. I asked the man in charge to please ask the man to move his car so I could inflate my low tire. The boss replied "YOU ASK HIM TO MOVE ". Took my car over to Action Auto Tech yesterday due to the rear hatch of my CRV no longer closing... I had been driving around with it strapped shut and really needed to get it working again. Called over to AAT and they said "Sure, bring it on by, we'll take a look." When I arrived, the owner Vinnie was incredibly quick to figure out the issue and with a few twists of a screwdriver and strategically swung hammer blows, it was back to latching and locking again with a push of the key. Whew! When I asked how much, he waved his hand and said "Don't worry about it, this was an easy one." Was totally impressed with not only his customer service, but how he went about diagnosing and solving the problem. It's a small little shop at first glance, but looks can certainly be deceiving and based on this simple encounter, I plan on being back. Thanks Vinnie!! read more

Been going there a few times for oil changes, tire air leak, etc. small stuff. Friendly guys, nice, helpful. Have a friend who likes the mechanic. Asked mechanic about replacing my clutch - he quoted a price 33% above what I had it done for elsewhere. Went back for an oil change today. Here is where the crap begins. While I waited a few minutes for my turn for the oil change, they asked me to move my car to a particular place, since I was partly blocking the air pump (not really) "in case a customer comes that needs air." I moved it, and continued to wait. Within 2 minutes, same guy asked me to move my car or give him the keys, since now I am blocking in a car. Duh. Apparently I was too slow to hand him the keys, since when I held out the keys, he pulled back his hand, asked me if I wanted to move it myself "since I was taking my own sweet time". "I dont care". "I dont care either!" and he walked off, and I drove off, never to return. Say good bye to your customer, and I hope to several more. This is a fantastic place. Xander is always friendly and has gone out of his way every time. Today I went in for brake work and was told it would be a 2 hour wait. My 4 year old daughter and I walked across the road to CVS and did our best to burn 2 hours. Upon returning, it wasn't ready, or even started. "Well, that sucks!" I thought. I have a super busy week and this is taking forever. I called a friend to come pick me up and finally went back home. I got the call that it was finished. Instead of replacing my calipers, they cleaned them very well and saved me money on parts. My bill went from $890 to $615. That!, That is how you treat business that you want to return. read more

I've been going to Acton Auto Tech since I moved here, over 20 years ago, for all my inspections, oil changes, and other minor work. And over the years my kids have taken their cars for oil changes, etc. I've always gotten to know the guys that work there....good guys, friendly, and good at what they do. I've also occasionally used another repair place in the area for all those years...another good guy, friendly, good at what he does. In more recent years I've had newer vehicles so repairs have been very infrequent and/or warranty work. Last year I got an inspection, as usual, and was told the breaks would need replacing at some point, but there was still some life left in them. About 6-7 months later I had the brakes done at the other repair place...I hadn't given him any work in over 2 years so I decided to give him the work. Recently I was told by Vinnie not to come back because I'd had the brake work done somewhere else. Seriously!? If I don't give you ALL the work then you don't want me back? Vinnie has been a friend to the town of Acton (he helped bring in the 9/11 memorial) and to his customers. He gives a good price on repairs, and does a good job. He knows his stuff, and he is training the younger mechanics well. I have been there for repairs probably 10-15 times on both of my Japanese cars. They are not experts in all makes of cars, and the very expensive dealer might know more (or have a better specific computer), but for an older car, it makes sense to go to Acton Auto Tech. I've been happy with the results. The reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because they don't really check for routine maintenance. They fix stuff. If you want all your fluids checked and do a 70,000 mile checkup to be proactive, then go to Jiffy Lube or a dealer. But if you want a good repair at a good price, go to Acton Auto Tech. read more

We've been taking our vehicles to Vin and the guys down at Acton Auto Tech for about 7 years now. I commute 160 miles round trip 3 days a week and they have definitely kept my mini-van on the road. I work down the street from Acton Auto Tech and have been taking my car there for the last couple of years. Unfortunately I haven't done all my repairs there because my car breaks down in random places and I was too busy being swindled by Good Year of Lowell (see my review). Anyways, Vinnie is your man for an auto mechanic. All his repairs have held up and he gives you a good deal. He doesn't try to fix shit that isn't broken or screw you with expensive parts. A couple of times he's done very minor work for free, like grounding my wind shield wiper motor after my girlfriend installed it and we didn't understand the wiring. My first experience at AAT was failing an inspection. I was like "screw these guys and their insistence that my car actually have a working exhaust system!". But then I just realized that my car is a piece of shit and got it fixed by a friend. If you live in Acton, give these guys your business, and screw Good Year. read more

I took my vehicle into Acton Auto Tech (or Acton Pro Tech) just recently. I requested a simple oil change and left my vehicle at the shop. I came back an hour and a half later to pick up my vehicle and paid $35.00 for the services. The owner of the shop said everything looked great. I drove my vehicle home and to work the next day. Once I got home that evening, I checked my oil as to make sure the oil level was up there and that I had new clean oil in my engine. The oil was brown and dirty much to my dismay. I took it to another mechanic who agreed with me that it didn't look like they changed it at Acton Auto Tech. Prior to my dealings in Acton I had my last oil change at the car dealership where they only use the manufacturer's genuine parts. I called the dealership to confirm what brand of filter to expect to see in my vehicle had the local Acton shop not changed it. Sure enough, when I took my vehicle back in for an oil change, a couple days later, the filter installed back in April at the dealership was still in my vehicle! I went back to Acton Auto Tech and put them on the spot and asked what type of oil filters they use... it wasn't the brand that was still in my vehicle! I busted them and they knew it. They gave me my lousy money back on the spot, but that's pocket change compared to a blown engine. I hope residence of Acton and nearby heed this warning and stay away from this shop. read more
