So not only have I had an unpleasant experience with this company, but they continue to send me bills for the one and only appointment I've ever had with them. As they continue to attempt to double-bill me for $79 (and I really have no idea where they've come up with this amount, because my co-pay was $10 and paid in full on the date of the visit), I will continue to update my negative review of this eye care provider. My third notice arrived the other day, and I immediately reported them to the Better Business Bureau. These are fraudulent charges, as my insurance company has paid their end of the bill (and I have proof, repeatedly sent to their office), and I've paid my end with the co-pay. A customer service representative for my insurance has also confirmed this, twice. I wish I had never had an eye exam here, and you will too -- particularly as they seem interested in extorting money from dissatisfied first-time patients who dare to express their opinions on Yelp. Well, guess what, West Coast Eye Care? I'm not paying you another penny, and I certainly won't stop posting these updates until you remove these fraudulent charges from my account! read more

So my glasses just broke... the arm broke at the hinge. I have been using the little plastic rubber circles that keep the glasses' arms tighter against the sides of my head so they don't fall off. I am not happy that I need to go back there, I don't like this place. I'm sure they will tell me there is no warranty or that it's my fault for using the little rubber circles things to make my incorrectly sized glasses stay on my normal sized head. I wish I could give them negative stars. This place is highly overcrowded, unorganized and unconcerned with patients. I verified that my daughters insurance was acceptable when I called and provided all of her information. When we arrived they said it would be a 30 to 45 minute wait. After waiting for 15 minutes they called me to the counter, asked me if anyone had called to advise me that it was self pay because they didn't accept her insurance. When I indicated that nobody told me and I had verified when I made the appt she did not apologize or even seemed to care. She asked for a payment, I told her we were leaving. I had so bad experience with them I ordered ayeglasses and I choose the frame after two months they called me and told me it's done , and they give me the wrong frame. They did not accept my money back, so they asked me to choose another frame, so I had to choose a second frame that I did not like, but I no longer had another choice because the rest of the frames are very expensive. And I paid extra money on the new Frame that I had to choose. I waited for about two months and I called them and they told me that it was still incomplete and that every time they put their Reason in Corona virus.I will not order eyeglasses from them again. read more

The doctor's assistant was nice the doctor himself wasn't. He just went into the room and said well "it's always been there so you need glasses." To my mom whose eyesight change drastically overnight. When we came here to check if it was her medication causes the issues. He did zero tests on her to determine what he said. The staff then kicked me out of the room when she left for 5 seconds to get water, just to put another patient in the room when my mom wasn't even done. The wait time is overly long. The place is over crowded. I wear glasses and my appointments take 30-45 minutes with exams and everything in IB, but here it takes over 2 and a half hours and we are still waiting. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Don't read the first part of this review without reading the second. Dr Patel is excellent as far as I can tell. I'm not an ophthalmologist and I haven't sought a second opinion on his work; the optical dispensary, on the other hand, is a rip-off. I asked them whether I could get glasses for under $100 and they assured me I could. But when I mentioned that I had $100 eyeglass insurance coverage, they raised the price to $200. I will never ever even consider buying glasses there!!! read more

These people are crooks!!! They got my prescription wrong, then I was leaving for India a couple days after getting my glasses made and I called to tell them before I left how frustrated I was to now be on a long journey without the right glasses. They then tried to charge me another exam fee upon my return to straighten it out! I told them no way. I'm DONE. This office is horrible! Alpine and El Cajon, which is really more like the SS office with nothing but long waits and loud chaos. Run!! Go to real doctors who get it right the first time, and certainly don't charge u again for their mistake!! Wtf. Who does that??? This place is a joke. Hard to believe that a medical facility does not even bother to clean the front door. But they do not. Gross! Makes me wonder how much effort is put into sanitizing surfaces in the exam areas. Did not look very clean in those areas either. They need a new cleaning service or retrain staff. Over crowded, and poorly organized as well. No privacy and using very old looking equipment. I would be embarrassed if were a Doctor here. read more

Horrendous! Took a month to get a pair of plano glasses made. No power even! I'm sure their doctors are good folk but the lab and their business stinks. Rude counter folks too. When you call, they make it sound like something's wrong with you for calling to find out why your glasses are late for over two weeks. First and last. read more

Giving them a 3 because of the staff they have a very nice and do everything's they can. But I'm upset because my eye doctor can not give me the right prescription my 90 days are up so she made me pay again $39 I don't think it's my fault that for some wierd reason my eyes are not working out with the prescription I get. I see blurry with my glasses but not my contacts, but my contacts hurt after 4 hours... I've done everything she told me. :( hopefully this time everything comes out good. I don't want to keep paying and getting no results. Another thing, they are super bad with app. If you have an app you will wait a while, so be ready. read more

I've always been treated well when visiting West Coast Eye Care and Dr. Andersen has always been so very helpful. Dr. Andersen is the best and so very nice and personable! I've always been treated well. The only drawback is sometimes when picking up glasses or contacts, what should be a quick stop turns out to be a half hour or more wait, but that's not every time, and I'm not sure if that's an optical, front office, or just plain miscommunication?? My husband has been going here for many years, and recommended them as my eye dr doesn't take our new insurance. The doctor who saw myself and my son was very patient with him (6 years old) and did a good job with me as well. I am a caregiver for an elderly woman who has trouble speaking. When we arrived I was told that Dr. Patel was running behind about 45 minutes. We decided to patiently wait. To our surprise we were called in after less than 15 minutes. I was so impressed with front staff and nurses. They all jumped in and worked together as a team should. The staff was not only efficient but truly compassionate at the same time. I was very impressed by the team that I witnessed today. I had originally went to the El Cajon Blvd office to see Dr. Katzman was going to order glasses but I was helped by the rudest lady. Her name was Bonnie. She didnt listen to anything I was telling her. My daughter who is a patient of Dr. Dyers took me to the El Cajon City office. Melanie helped me and she was GREAT!!! The customer service at this place is HORRIFIC. I do not recommend ANYONE to go here. Stay away at all cost!!! I placed an order on March 21st for a pair of glasses over a month later (May 2nd) they still had not contact my insurance company to get the ball rolling. The Customer Service associates in the front of the building are EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. They will have arguments with the DR's right in front of you and have no sense of urgency. The one positive thing I can say about this place would be the DR's are great. But it's just not worth the trouble with the service you receive outside the DR's room. DO NOT GO HERE read more

I am a caregiver and my clients appointment was at 1130am. We checked in at 11:20am. It's now 1220pm and we're still sitting here. Another patient that was here before us I overheard her at the front ask how much longer the wait will be. The employee said the Dr had a patient that took up extra time but that patient is done and the Dr is now speeding up. That patient has already been here an hour and a half. When walking in, the office is full of people. All the chairs are full & people keep coming in with no where to sit. There's elderly people standing with walkers because they are behind and have to many people in the waiting room. The staff seem irritated when a customer asks how much longer it will be until they will be seen. There is no personal privacy when checking In. You can hear every patient checking in on what there here for, what Insurance they have, there pharmacy and how much there co pay is. This office is very unorganized. I understand the employees getting frustrated with patients asking how much longer but when they use a loud rude "I'm tired of hearing this" rolling there eyes attitude isn't acceptable. read more

I ordered my glasses 3 weeks ago and barely had a chance to pick them up this week. I ordered three pairs. One distance, one for reading, and a sunglass and I love all three. Melanie helped me pick out all three and was very patient with me. I was worried about out the price but she even gave me a discount on two of them. When I picked up the glasses Sandra helped me. Melanie remembered me and exactly what I ordered. It made me feel even better about my purchase. While Sandra was adjusting my glasses Melanie even fixed my husbands broken glasses. I would highly recommend these two ladies. Even if you dont have an exam there you can order your glasses and will be well taken care of. Great customer service. read more
